The Korean name for this show is "Pure Nineteen". KBS-America calls it "Pure in Heart". KBS Global Marketing calls it "Hearts of Nineteen". Will the real drama please stand up?

That was hilarious, Soapygrams. Here in Philly, I believe it started as "Pure in Heart," but the TV Guide scrawl listed it as "Hearts of Nineteen" this evening. Since Korean Wiz lists our characters and features their ages, this suggests to me that age may perhaps indicate levels of purity. I have compiled the list and rated each character's level of purity:
Gukhwa (19 years old) = PURE! Ugyeong (29 years old) = HEADING TOWARDS IMPURITY Yunhu (29 years old) = HEADING TOWARDS IMPURITY Yunjeong (Yunhu’s younger sister) (23 years old) = PURE, BUT SLIGHTLY TURNING Sinhyeong (29 years old) = HEADING TOWARDS IMPURITY Youngkam (Ugyeong’s grandpa) (70 years old) = NOT A TRACE OF PURITY Mungu (Ugyeong’s dad) (51 years old) = = WELL OUT OF PURITY Okgeum (Ugyeong’s mom) (48 years old) = WELL OUT OF PURITY Uncle Punggu (45 years old) = WELL OUT OF PURITY Usuk(Ugyeong’s sister) (21 years old) = STILL PURE, BUT LESS PURE THAN 19 Hyesuk (47 years old) = WELL OUT OF PURITY Mr. Koh (45 years old) = WELL OUT OF PURITY Dongguk (Yunhu’s dad years old) (53) = WELL OUT OF PURITY, BECOMING QUITE UNPURE Myeunghye (Yunhu’s mom (56 years old) = QUITE UNPURE Yunji (Yunhu older sister) (33 years old) = HEARTILY SHAKING THE HAND OF IMPURITY Gwangman (Yunji’s husband) (38 years old) = INVITES IMPURITY TO DINNER Nari (10 years old) = EXTREMELY PURE
Where are YOU on the purity scale... I'll never tell!!!

Lol Teresa. How is Ugyeong heading towards impurity though? He's oh so very incredibly shy and sweet. I don't see him as impure in the least bit. and Yunjeong? She's definitely not pure. From the previews it appears she comes back home drunk. Only a man can solve her problems apparently. I don't think marriage will soften up that girl.

Oh, I most definitely agree, BAE. As a matter of fact, I think our 70 year-old grandpa has a kind of purity about him. I was just amused by the fact that the show's title focuses on the "nineteen" aspect. Combined with the listing of the character's ages, I dreamt up my silly Level of Purity Scale. (plus I get a little foolish late at night!)
I really like Ugyeong. I'd like to see him and Gukhwa as a couple!

I bow down to the purity scale Teresa. I certainly agree with you about the gpa. He seems so stern and inaffectionate when he really is soft on the inside. I think losing his wife and his youngest son have burdened and saddened him as well. ugyeong and gukhwa are very similar, very PURE in HEART, they would make a good couple. but it might be boring, as with Hae-in and Suk-hyun. There's no dynamic in a relationship if two people are too similar to eachother. But i think the writers will etch it in that storyline soon. Why is Ugyeong still carrying around a picture of Gukhwa??? hmm.....

"Nineteen Pure Hearts"??
Sounds like a flush with a pinochle deck ;D

AND, playing pinochle is a very pure thing to do on a Saturday night, Soju!
It occurs to me, in better keeping with the silly bent on the purity scale, I really SHOULD have categorized young 10 year-old Nari as:
Nari (10 years old): a pre-PURE-bescent!

are most viewers of this show Korean? I have never been to Asia but totally got hooked on the show and Korean culture. I find myself watching Korean news even though I do not understand a word and try to match the words with the pictures they are showing. Are there other non-Asians like me who have been swept away by this show and the culture? Enid

ENID- I got hooked on the Korean culture 10 years-ago (and I'm not Korean) all thanks to the former group H.O.T. and that's how I started watching KDramas.
