Enid, I'm not even a trace Korean but I've been swept up in the Korean wave since Age of Warriors... and now I too try to noodle out what the heck they are talking about on KBS "Nooose" using the images as a cue. My favorite was an apparent wild boar problem Korea had about, oh, six months ago. The broadcasts featured this terrific graphic of the map of Korea (I think BOTH North and South) with wild boar spottings dotting the map. My other favorite was my first witness of mass production of kimchee (a treat of which I was not yet familiar). I was positively aghast at assembly lined ladies donning heavy industrial gloves, immersing them in thick reddish/green goo and putting it in tankards... and then people EATING the stuff and smiling! I've been watching for quite some time now and I still haven't figured out who "chatting guy" is. I don't know if he is featured on KBS News in Chicago, but in Philly, he's in every news broadcast with an extremely fake bookshelf backdrop and he chats on and on about something -- I'm thinking he talks about local Philadelphian Korean things, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, Enid, enjoy the wave, and like Bo... who is H.O.T?! We have to know!

If you're registered on Soompi, you can read the thread about them here. Most of the post are various combinations of "OOhh! I love H. O. T.", "They were the first K-Pop band I ever heard". and "It's been so long! When will there be a reunion?"

ENID- I got hooked on the Korean culture 10 years-ago (and I'm not Korean) all thanks to the former group H.O.T. and that's how I started watching KDramas. Christi, what does "H.O.T." stand for? And what was the group about? I'm now officially curious...LOL. Bo PS - You're not Christi Kim, the subtitler, are you? PPS - Stupid me. You said you're Not Korean...sorry. LOL. H.O.T.,High-five of Teenagers, they were the BSB of Korea (and they were popular around the same time as BSB too.) My sister was up one night and flipping through the channels and there they were. Since then, I was hooked. No, I'm not Korean. Only when I watch the KDramas is when I am. Joking. ;D

My mom and sister have taken to joking about how I'm "first-generation Korean" and how amazing it is that I speak English so well. LOL. They ask kindly question about how "my people" do things, for example. ;D

I think it should have been called "Pure 12", because that's how she acts most of the time.
Makes me laugh out loud a lot more than BB though, so that's a good thing.
I think I saw Grandpa is Seoul 1945 on Sunday. Mean Boss and Hyesun were both in Mr. Goodbye last night. It's getting hard to keep up with all these actors as different characters…

Hi BAE,
Yang Gukhwa, she makes these funny faces that look like she's 12, not 19. As someone mentioned, I'm guessing it's for effect so that if she does blossom into a sophisticated woman by the end, they can do flashbacks for comparisons.
I like how Mean Boss keeps calling her "Farm Girl" and the puzzled looks he keeps giving her are priceless. Too funny.

But it's what makes her so cute. She and Yun-jeong are really quite alike. Both of them have this childlike nature to them, among other things. But this aspect of their characteristics really shows how vulnerable and sweet both of them can be. Each character on this show is, in some way, like a child. Hye-suk, trying to get back at Ok-geum like a 4-yr-old that got her doll stolen. Gramps running after Hye-suk like a lovestruck little boy. It's so fun to watch.
