I don't know, but it seems that the writers were hinting that In-young would have a miscarriage. It was so, so sad because In-young deserves so much happiness in dealing with her husband's dysfunctional family.
It's just strange that Jae-min happened to be in the store at the mall when In-young began having pain. He was the one who took her to the hospital. It seems that Ki-joon is more concerned about how his mother will react. Poor In-young has to apologize to her MIL for the miscarriage.
Her MIL brought In-young some kind of soup tonight, but I think it's her attempt to make In-young strong enough to conceive again. In-young's gifts for her MIL, who is supposed to be going on a trip, won't make a difference once In-young is back on her feet. Once she finds out that Jae-min took In-young to the hospital, she'll accuse In-young of cheating on her son.
Maybe In-young will start to have thoughts about Jae-min who seems to be there for her. Ki-joon just seems to want to make his mother happy. I see In-young in perfect harmony with Jae-min and his motherless son.
Ok-ja will have twins, must to her sister's dismay.

I found it so totally disgusting that the sister in law said to IY "you're really taking this too far" she just lost a baby HELLO??? And the idea that the m-i-l is bedridden by depression over this more than the woman who suffered the miscarriage is ridiculous.
I can't wait until the fast forward alluded to in the "FINALLY" thread.

Jin-ah is so inconsiderate. What the heck is wrong with her! She is the worst sister-in-law ever! IY comes into SM's room and Jin-ah just gives IY an evil look and say, "You're going overboard." What the heck?! Jin-ah should have hugged IY or something and say, "I'm sorry about what happened. But we're all going to pull thru together as a family" or something like that.

I think it is horrible that happened to In-young. She didn't deserve it. Her mother-in-law didn't deserve a grandchild through In-young though. I think it's her fault In-young had a miscarriage in the first place. SHe constantly stressed her out and made her do hard labor while she was probaly in her first weeks of pregnancy. So she shouldn't blame In-young she should blame heself.

I can't believe that the MOTHER IN LAW's feelings are what everyone's worried about. Sheesh! And Lovely, Jin-ah showed herself to be an evil, small person with that comment. How selfish and mean do you have to be to criticize your SIL for being sad after a miscarriage? About the seaweed soup, that's traditionally eaten (in Korea) by women who have just given birth. Ok-ja is very kindly carrying out the tradition for In-young by serving her the soup. I read a news story that women in maternity wards in California who see their Korean American wardmates getting seaweed soup are now demanding it, too. Doctors have determined that this traditional soup is in fact good for the post-birth uterus. It has iodine and something else that stop bleeding and restore muscle tone to the uterus. Same benefits apply after miscarriage.

Wow, Lucy, you are a font of wisdom! Ok-ja is so sweet. How'd she get related to that foul harridan, Ok-jin, anyway? Perhaps she is adopted.
Which might explain a lot.

I wondered if Jin-ah's comment "You're going overboard" meant that ScreechMom was going to push her off the plank of the family ship now that there isn't any baby, (because IY wasn't in hysterics, so how could she be accused of overreacting.) It shocked me how SM had zero concern for her DIL. Until the next day, when she did seem affected by IY's gift of a camera--then she dished up the soup for IY herself. Wonder if SM will hug IY today? Probably too much to expect.

as much as we'd all like to see some spot of goodness in Jin-ah's coal black heart ginnycat5, we can't. and i do agree with you about SM. She was caring enough to take the soup to IY. Which makes me wonder, will her old ways change because of this unfortunate event, or will poor IY have to suffer all over again?

Well, can leopards, tigers or polka dots change their spots, stripes, dots ... can an MIL who only cares about her DIL getting pregnant actually change and exhibit human feelings for her DIL? hmmmnnn - do we really need to think hard about the answer???

well you can wonder as much as you want, but yes, Ok-ja feelings changed due to the fact that In-young was having a bay. Thus making the long awaited arrival of making her a grandma. But keep in mind in-young didnt want to get pregnet yet....it was MIL who wanted her, so if you force something like that, it just wasnt ment to be.

That Jin-ah, I'd like to slap her silly every time I see her smug face. Poor In-young goes through this, yet SM is in bed, sick to death because this is happening to her. Only Ok-ja really has compassion for In-young. SM's only hope is that In-young will produce a grandchild for her so that she can boast to her rich friends that she's a grandma.
I was surprised when In-young's real Aunt told her that she should have taken better care of herself. Only her grandfather and father were, more or less, accepting of the fact that fate just happens.
Lucy, that is very interesting that seaweed soup has medicinal properties for post-partum women.
