I saw that the dad called while they were driving to the airport, and then I missed a scene or two. Ironically, I missed it in the re-run as well. That's what happens sometimes when you have a 2 year old to chase around! Can anyone explain? TIA!

The family did not want him to leave; the father wanted him to stay and so they told GP that there was a call from the US saying that he should stay in Korea .... anyway, the entire family wanted him to stay with them, including Aunt. When GP was saying that he would just go into a nursing home/retirement home, everyone in the family had tears in their eyes and said no. They insisted that he take In-young's room so he would have a room to himself. The entire family got together to clean and fix up the room for him. It was a truly happy scene and now GP will stay in Korea. Did you see the rest of this episode?

Oh, yes, I saw the rest! I also saw that the dad said something about a phone call. Fast forward and I saw the familiy saying he should take IY's room and that on Sunday they would clean it for G'pa, but I just missed the reason he stayed and, apparently, the scene in which they fixed IY's old room up for G'pa. Thanks so much for the explanation!
Cheers,

I think his family in America really didn't want him to return. Perhaps they wanted him to enter a "retirement center". It was confusing since nursing homes, in America, take in the very ill, disabled or elderly, at huge costs to the resident. If the resident doesn't have the money for private pay, he/she willl have to file for Medicaid.
Grandpa is still very active and alert, so I think it's wonderful that he will continue to live with his family in Korea. Grandpa has much wisdom and knowledge to guide his family. I still think he has some interest in his SIL's sister. It would be interesting to see them in a relationship.

I actually want Grandpa to stay in Korea. I think he and Young-soon (Mrs. Hen) are getting along better now? I hope they are. I always thought Grandpa was kind. It was Mrs. Hen that needed to open up and be more kind to him. I understand how weird it is to have someone just come live with you in your house and do what they want. But hey, it's family!
