WOW
i just saw episode 23 you guys...
all i can say is that the slow pace of the previous episodes to set up the characters is more than made up for by episode 23. the series is finally taking off in a style befitting the last four episodes that actually began the series.
Soon Shin returns to mijin's village with a gift for her.
Chun Soo leads the japanese to her village to show them who Yi Soon Shin is because wakizaka wants his head.
mijin fights a ton of the japanese (and does splendidly) until she is finally overpowered and Wakizaka takes a liking to her and takes her prisoner.
the japanese violently slaughter almost all the inhabitants of the village. Soon Shin's friends watch their loved ones being killed - some in their own arms
on the shore, wakizaka touches mijin's face and she spits in his. he is about to kill her when the men behind him are shot with arrows and soon shin comes to the rescue.
wakizaka then gets his cut and is stabbed in the side before escaping, but not before he takes mijin and another of soon shin's friends with him.
soon shin's martial arts master joins the fight, but is killed when two samurai jump out at him at the same time.
we meet the head eunuch who caused yi soon shin so much grief before he died. he meets the young sunjo while picking up fallen rice on the path. the crown prince takes a liking to him and tells him to continue.
the crown prince is about to eat when he gets mad that his meal for one is enough to feed several families
a great episode all around!

Yeah, the series become way more involving. I highly suggest you to watch episode 28. I have a couple of question and comments regarding to that episode.
1) Who are the people that look like mongolians? Wasn't the mongols losing their lands by 1500s? They couldn't have been japanese, could they?
2) Won Kyun is a beast. I don't know the reason of why he did what he did, but there is no excuse to do what he did.
(I hope that came across right. I can't spoil everything if someone acidently open this thread)
3) I felt so sorry for that lady. That Won Kyun is responsible for what happen to her. I hope the Admiral teach him a lesson quick.
4) What happen to Admiral Yi to make him change so drastically? Its only been 28 episodes, but the character changed so fast. On the teen epsiodes, he so jolly and happy. From watching ep. 28, he's like how he was in the first 4 episode.
Better yet, don't answer that question. I 'll wait to see for myself.
And isn't one of the mongolian type people the same actor who played suk-soong (the second in command in Choi Choong Hon clique) in AOW.
