I was up late last night and watched a crime drama-style show on channel 28.
In it, some guy kidnapped a girl (while she was taking a bath!) and kept her in an apartment and, as far as I could tell, just handcuffed her to different places in the apartment to keep her from getting out while chatting with her like a psycho would. His sister discovered it after seeing the woman's face on the news as missing and connecting it with the face of a woman she'd seen in pictures her brother had taken. When his sister talked to the police it came out that their father had left their mother when they were younger and that their mother had blamed (and abused) the brother and, eventually, drank herself to death, for which the brother blamed himself. Apparently the kidnapped woman was his boss's daughter. When the kidnapper first met her, she was a little kid and I think he was just starting out in his job, and she looked so happy to him that he became obsessed with her, following her around to take pictures. Anyway, at the end of the drama, there was a trial where he was found insane and locked up in a nuthatch.
Plot aside, there was one scene in the drama where the insane kidnapper tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrists in the bath, and his sister discovered him. But when they showed his arm (with the slit wrist) they blurred out his wrist so that the viewers wouldn't see the cuts. It seems to me like that was added afterwards by kbc, but I wouldn't really know. Is there some law in Korea (this was an mbc show) that doesn't allow wounds like that to be shown? Maybe this was added in later by kbc, but if so, why? It was shown late at night (about 2 am) so it seems odd that they would censor something like that.
