I watch this show almost every Monday, between the daily drama and the historical drama. It gives a view of how ordinary Koreans actually work for a living (except that there is a star working with them ). Tonight they had Kim Hak-chul, AKA Park Sul-he in Wang Guhn, harvesting lotus root, what the Japanese call renkon. It was weird to see him with hair. They also had a man (I didn't recognize him; I think he is a singer), working at one of those food carts we always see. They showed how they set them up, how they prepare the food, and even wash the dishes. They don't have Durama actors all that often; usually, it seems, the stars are Pop Singers. They usually get paid about $30 - $50 (sometimes with an additional gift from their "employer"), and place their wages in a heart-shaped plstic box while astride a fiberglass unicorn. This is a good show to watch to see what it is like in Korea, without all the distractions of a drama's storyline.

I had seen this for years and was never able to figure it out! So that's what they're putting in the heart box! That unicorn ride always freaked me out.

I remember going on a horseback riding in Jeju Island nearly 2 years ago. The guy who taught me to ride told me to watch the re-run of the Monday channel this coming weekend because he's starring...!
Indeed the latest episode showed a female star (can't remember) learning how to feed Jeju horses, clean up the stable and all that.
One of the common criticisms of Korean dramas among Koreans are that some drama's lifestyle is portrayed too luxurious for many people to related to - mostly a rags to riches story starring Cinderella-ish girl and Prince Charming-ish guy.

I saw today's episode(well actually it's Monday night's re-airing)of this show and was pleasantly surprised...they actually had this show subtitled in English . I don't know whether it's going to be subtitled from now on, but I really hope it is.

It was on just before the rerun of YSS (before 1:30 pm). One of the famous actors was the second in command to the gorgeous Lee Seo Jin on Damo. I missed his part, tho. The second half had a woman working at a Folk Village. Her name is Hyeong yeong (something?) . She helped make a sweet by pounding rice with a huge mallet into a doughy mass, cutting it into bite-size pieces and rolling it in sweet bean flour/powder? They ate it immediately and enjoyed it -no cooking.

Yeah, she's also an actress, she was in a sitcom called Dalle's House, Kyung Mi-Ri (from WML & The Great Jang Geum) was also in Dalle's House...the quality wasn't all that great though, I thought at first that it was a re-run of something real old, but the two hosts was what gave it away, that it was a recent airing.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this show now appears to be subtitled. I saw the ones from last week, and it was subtitled. Called, "Famous People Roll Up Their Sleeves." Do check it out.

It sounds interesting.

Do you guys know about many of the English subtitled shows? A lot of shows are subed except News, dramas that playing long time ago, and music programs...
Well, sadly it's bad for Korean watcher because kbc made the screen shorter for english subtitle, and they just erased Korean subtitle that hard to understand even Korean watcher...
But I'm happy to see that many of other's country viewers enjoy the Korean programs.
