My first Korean drama was Dear Encounter. Man, that show had me glued to my t.v. It wasn't even a action packed historical drama either. I think it was in 1999 or 2000. It was a modern drama but the characters were just great. I almost cried when the grandmother passed away. That's the closest I ever shed a tear for a T.V. Drama. Not even the death of Ages of Warrior"s Yi Ui Bang or Yi Ui Min caught my heart like that scene.

When we moved out to the 'burbs from the city, we had to wait to get our satellite dish network installed. So, we had no choice but to watch our dinky little regular-antenna t.v. set for about a week.............and thank goodness for that, because we stumbled upon "On the Green Prairie" and the rest is history!

Mine were "Secret" and "Housewife's Rebellion" - (JANG JIN GOO!!! - you'd have to see it to understand...funny, funny show) - both of these were on in 2000.

The First Korean Drama that I saw was Emperor Wang Kon (Wang Gauhn) somewhere of March 2001. That's the only one that I know.
In the 90's when I was a kid, I only watch Chinese and Japanese Dramas that deals with history or stories from the past. The most favorite ones that I enjoyed were that 80's dramas: Dream of the Red Manisons and Journey to The West (Monkey).
Some years later, I watched some Historical Japanese Dramas because I like the samurais, their swords, etc. One of them that I remember was that story of the rise of the first shogunates in Japanese History.

Mines was Yellow Handkerchief, I started watching it when Hye Tae Ran's character (Ja Young in YH or Hanna from WML) ran away while pregnant...I remember thinking 'Wow, she's beautiful' and I've been in love with her since ;D
