My first one was Chang Nok Soo. I might have spelled it wrong so please forgive me. I was going to fashion school at the time so I was intrigued by the costumes, I just love historical costumes as well as folk costumes of Asia. There was also another drama on around that time but not a historical one. I can't really remember the name of it and I tried checking koreanwiz but I am not sure of the title to begin with. As well as I am not good with names of actors. I do recall one woman that was in it she was the lead and I noticed she was in the last historical drama I saw around 1997 and was called West Palace. She played a mother of Gaetong (I remember the mother asking the monk why she should name her child dog sh_t) .
This actress in this first drama (modern at that time) was the lead in it. I didn't get to see many episodes and remember her struggling to do something with her life besides be a housewife that her husband and his family wanted her to be. The title had something to do with poetry and wind. I barely remember it.
I do however wish I could see Chang Nok Soo again. If any of you have a subtitled copy of it I would love to borrow it. It had such beautiful costumes and great story line.

Korean dramas are new to me. I was channel surfing last year and by chance came across a drama on Channel 28 and noticed the English subtitles, so I stopped to see what was happening....I have been hooked ever since. My first one was To Be With You, now I'm watching Yellow Handkerchief. No one I know watches these dramas, so I was very excited to learn of this website. Great idea! I am definitely enjoying it. Just out of curiosity, I wonder if anyone knows if this website was requested of Channel 28 by viewer(s) of the dramas, who saw the need for it?

;D I would have to say in 1998, there was this amazing korean drama about two sisters who liked the same guy and couldn't ever get along. One was nice, the other was mean. It was titled "Love and Success." The show has etched itself in the corner of my mind. It was just awesome. Although I am the kind of person who would prefer something like "BodyGuard" of Korea or "The Last Samurai" here in the US, I liked "Love and Success." I can't remember if it ever aired on KBS because that's where I think I saw it. :-XBut...

My first drama was Nok Soo as well. I found it very compelling and though there was a lot of legend around the main character I found her a very believable female lead.

My first drama was Tender Hearts. Weird story that was borderline incestuous.

Old thread, but mine was Wang Guhn. I first picked it up just as Kyun Hwon's sister was leaving her parents, and the hopes of lovesick Park Sulhee behind. Kyun Hwon was about to undertake his third, and first successful attempt at capturing the fort at Daeya.
I was glued to it within the first ten minutes and the k-dramas have never let me go since.

My first drama was "To Be With You." I missed a lot of episodes from the beginning though. My parents actually got into Korean drams first. My dad was flipping thru the channels and he stumbled across "To Be With You." So with the subtitles, we got addicted to the show and to Korean dramas overall ;D!

Hey, hannah, thanks for kicking this forward.
My first drama was "Tender Hearts" but I could not figure out the schedule so I only got to see about 15% of it, I'd guess. (It took me forever to figure out what the title was!) Fortunately, I was able to follow the story and was able to see the very last two episodes. (Which was by accident, and provided a shock because I did not know they ENDED.) I can't remember--wasn't that one hourly? And didn't it run twice a week?
I thought Kyun Mi-ree was brilliant on that show, and until I found this board, my main criteria for deciding to watch a drama was whether she was on it.

Well as for me, the first K-drama I watched was "On the Green Prairie" and it was purely by accident. I was flipping through the channels, ended up on channel 28, and since there was nothing good on tv that day I started watching it.

hey, cool!
My first was "hourglass" (hence my name, moreshige) and "dawn of the pupil" way back in '92-93. Before then, I hated korean dramas because my parents like all korean parents were addicted. But now I'm addicted...lol
