Have you guys noticed how nosy Sung-ae's (Ji-hae's mom, at least I think that's her name) co-workers are? I mean they are always listening to her conversations and putting in their two cents.
That may be, of course, because they all seem to share one big room, but still. I'd be like excuse me this is a private conversation.

And she has no problem sharing her dirty laundry with them! You think someone who counsels other families would hide the fact that her own home is a mess. Doesn't it make her look bad? She seems to think it's all very funny.

She had no problem sharing it all with the TV audience, either. Maybe her co-workers' lives are so dull that they live through her vicariously.

It's not just the co-workers that are nosey.
Since when does a mother have to know their adult child's every move? I have to laugh everytime someone is going someplace. " Are you going out?" "Where are you going?" Who are you meeting and why?"
What's up with that?

...Since when does a mother have to know their adult child's every move? I have to laugh everytime someone is going someplace. "Are you going out?" "Where are you going?" Who are you meeting and why?"...What's up with that? Well, "What's up with that," is the reason we're watching these shows, isn't it. Cultural differences. It's part of their family dynamic. I don't expect Koreans in Korea to act the same way as do Americans in America, whatever their racial origin. The fact that Jae-min and Ji-hae's families let them move out on their own was shocking in and of itself, and the fact that the situation unraveled was not surprising. Ji-hae's mother is very odd. She does seem to think it's perfectly all right to tell stories on her family. Her sister, Hee-soo's mom, is a little odd that way, too. I wonder about their family, sometimes. Bo

seems to me she gets along better with her co-workers than she does with her family. she also seems to be more career-oriented than family oriented... doesn't even seem close to her family at all... hmm i wonder how sung-ae and min-sup got to be married at all... none of them seem to be very interested in each other except for sung-ae trying to get min-sup from hanging onto their daughter... where is all the love in the family?!
EDIT - oops i take it back... i guess she has a different way of showing it.. it was nice of her to write that letter to grandma... and she does love min-sup.. huh.. guess she shows it differently...
