And there was the way he looked up when his Dad made that remark about "Evil Mothers-in-law".
I wonder if anyone on this board is a Neurologist?

Remember, when they brought brother home from the hospital, they said that he had spoken and told the Dr. that he wanted to come home. Since then he hasn't spoken--selective mutism it's called and can occur for a variety of reasons, from severe emotional trauma, situational anxiety or just plain old "I don't wanna do it." Brother seems to be in the "I don't wanna do it" kind of mutism.
Another point that the writers may be making, is that the depth of understanding that victims with neurological deficits may have is often overlooked because the individual is unable to respond or remember in the ways we deem "normal." This actor is doing an incredible job--between body language, jesture, etc.
And, yes, I had the same fear about evil step mom doing harm to brother as a means to her ends. Sort of a Munchausen by proxy sort of thing (She gets reflected glory by how much she cares for her poo disaabled son, etc.) She may love this son, but her love is the most poisonous kind because she is also dooming him to the worst of his condition by not providing education and therapies.

what if jin-soo finally woke up a little bit more 'normal' than before and he realizes that his mother is doing some no good stuff and that he's thinking about his life and his mother's wrongdoings that he just dont wanna talk to anybody for the timebeing? ;D

On Friday, he said a mouthful, even if it was only two sentences. "Good but Dummy" Dad didn't even realize his son was giving him a warning.
ESM sure acted like it was just good that Jin-soo was talking more, but she's got to be thinking about all the stuff she's said in his presence that could come back to her.
Jin-soo better start talking to his brother!

I think that Jin-soo is better but hasn't still fully recovered. I think it's really sad that he truly hates himself that much that he cried like that and that even though he was sad he told Jin-kook that he was good and that he liked him. I think someone just needs to get him speech therapy and that once he recieves it he may be as good as new.

I felt bad for Jinsoo too. It seems to be that he really wants to be a "normal" boy and probably has dreams of having a wife and children of his own.
The vibes I get and the clues from the drama make me think that he's somewhat of a "secret". I didn't see him at the wedding ceremony, He-soo and her family only know that Jinkook has a younger brother and he's rarely talked about other than between the Ahns. Maybe he senses this and that only adds to the burden of not liking himself. Either way you look at it it's sad.
