Why in the world would Ji-Eun go along with the idea of marrying Eric, a man: 1.) she has maybe smiled at (halfway), twice 2.) she has never even kissed (until after she agrees to LIVE with this guy!!!) 3.) whom she reacts to robotically and shows almost no emotion for and frequently walks away from 4.) who unceremoniously dumped her two days ago by saying, repeatedly "I don't like you anymore." (Whether he meant it or not, where is her common sense and pride, for Pete's sake??) 5.) whose parents (the murdering father & Chairman Mao-wannabe stepmother) are evil (each in their own way) and have repeatedly verbalized and demonstrated blatantly hateful and disparaging feelings for her. (Geez, hello in there!!!) 6.) who knows that Ji-Eun still loves Will, but only avoids his love because her mother always despised Will and holds him responsible for her husband's death and their family's ruination? 7.) who knows for a fact that Will still totally loves Ji-Eun and never stopped loving her 8.) who is a man she doesn't really love, but apparently feels that if she marries him, she can in this way repay her mother and sister by restoring their family's loss of position and wealth?? ----And we think Mi-ran is crazy ? ?

I couldn't have said it better, FlowerLady! I can see that she really loves Will, and she anguished over how her father couldn't even try to like him when they were married 10 years earlier. She seems to be tring to accommodtae her mother and sister, since she feels responsible for her father's death.

,,, a man she doesn't really love, but apparently feels that if she marries him, she can in this way repay her mother and sister by restoring their family's loss of position and wealth?? I think that's what motivates her. She feels guilty for all the pain and suffering she has "caused" to her family, and boy, they never let her forget it, do they. I can see where she might want to alleviate those painful feelings and just forget See-hoon, the putative cause of all that. Bo

Can I just say that I can't stand Ji-eun and I wish Mi-ran were playing that role instead? Here's what Ji-eun is like, in my opinion (Warning: harsh judgment follows):
1. Is way too skinny and wan; looks like she's dying of malnutrition. 2. Looks down at the ground. 3. Walks at a snail's pace in any and every circumstance. 4. Passively accepts just about every comment and offers nothing in the way of conversation. 5. Is just generally a huge downer.
Why are two men in love with her? She sucks the life out of every scene. She is like a clinically depressed dishrag.
I just can't see her with Se-hoon, who is robust and needs a woman with a little spirit. And Eric--well, Eric saw her at what I consider one of her most notable moments: when she dragged her sister out of that club and earned her nickname, "Scary Sister." Maybe he fell in love with her at that moment, but she's done nothing interesting since.
That's my opinion, and I'm a-stickin' to it.

But you forgot her shrill voice whenever she cries or shouts. The actress who plays Miran could surely play JE well, but the same can't be said for the actress who plays JE. Now that I think of it, she kind of has the same "deficiencies" the girl from OMR had...what was her name? The girl with the Elvis lip? All the other points you made I agree with 100%. Maybe they can write in a part for an American woman traveling to S. Korea that is interested in purchasing J-River's debt from Seo-Lin Group and whom Jang Sehoon falls hopelessly in love with. BTW her name is galacticchick

So funny! I would pay to see that. And any acting skills you happen to possess would be icing on the cake; as we saw from the episode featuring the wooden American businessman, you don't really need 'em to be on "Phoenix."

But!!! I totally agree with the assessment of Ji-eun now, but I think that is what the actress was told to play.
Think back to the early days of Phoenix ... when Ji-eun was a carefree, happy-go-lucky, Eric-type of character.
Number 1 was still true but all the rest were the complete opposite.
And I like Mi-ran in her own role. Why would Ji-eun, the world's biggest martyr, be played by a girl who does psycho well? She's not psycho, just dead dead dead.

Because she's a good actress.

But then she wouldn't play Mi-ran.

True, and then where would we be without that delicious villainness?
Wasn't it great how she was looking up psychological symptoms to help her? I wonder if she was deliberately emulating Borderline Personality Disorder or if she thinks she's "doing" another one--because, according to the bit I know about BP Disorder, she's definitely got it, even if she thinks she's only pretending!

Ha Ji Won would've been perfect for the role of Ji Eun. Then again, I think she's perfect for every role. But hey .. we could've had a Damo reunion.

I haven't watched that episode yet but I can't believe her when I saw her give her little "performance" at Will's apartment. If I were him, I'd have left a little puddle on the kitchen floor. I would have been equally freaked out if I were the driver-"I'm not crazy yet". BTW, wouldn't it be fabulous to have Miran's super powers? I mean, one minute you're bloody & all scraped up, next you absolutely fine without a hint of a bruise.

Eep, yes, her looking up the mental illness symptoms was frightening. And, from the clues we've been given in the show, she didn't start that until Sehoon dumped her at the hospital. Which means, of course, that she was crazy as a loon before all of this when she went all bi-polar or BPD on both Sehoon and Jieun. And Eric, come to think of it.
I hope that she doesn't just keep cropping up in bit parts, because, while they're fun to watch, I would rather have her play a larger part in the drama.
Maybe she goes crazier and gets back at Seo Lin for their affront to her former friend, Jieun, thinking that will help atone and get her Will back, by buying their company and then bankrupting it by buying up all the cheese in the world. Maybe.
