I'm watching the DJG marathon on ANZ in L.A. right now and as a newbie I have a couple of questions regarding the cast:
1) Why is Hong Ri-Na (Keum Young) given 3rd billing on DJG - is she famous in Korea? I would think Lady Choi and Lady Han should be billed right after Jang Geum and Sir Min, after they seemed to have more screen time and far more challenging roles.
2) Have any members of the cast acted together in a movie or soap before/after DJG?
3) Is there a chance for Lee Young Ae and Ji Jin Hee to appear together in another movie/tv series?
4) How old would have DJG be when she and Sir Min finally got married and had their kid? What was the age difference between her and the king?
5) The MBC website states that Sir Min was a widower? Is this true? But this was never mentioned on DJG, right?
btw, i am thoroughly enjoying this board - even if DJG is over 2 yrs old, it continues to be active and posters here have been very helpful. Also, thanks to all those who have posted photos of the cast - they really look different when they are in street clothes. Lee Young Ae is very pretty and of course, Ji Jin Hee is a hottie!! ;D

Miswa, I know little bit about your question... 1. Hong Ri Na is a famous actress in Korea. I don't think she was ever a top tier actress but famous. She had a accident few years ago and injured her back. She had stopped acting for a while and she returned to DJG. She is now married and lives in the Bay Area of California.
2. Some members of the cast have acted together many times before. Some actor and actresses are regular members for the director of DJG. If you have seen the older movie, Hur Joon, you will see many of the same cast there. LYA and YMY are old buddies and have acted numerous times before.
3. LYA has only made few commercials and one movie after DJG. They did not have chance to act together after DJG but it may change in the future.
4, 5 . Jang Geum must have been in her 40's when she married MJH and in her fifties when she returned to the palace. And "yes" I was told the MJH was a widower.

hi miswa, From what I know, Sir Min was not a widower in the drama. Sir Min being a widower was the original plan, but the plan changed. As you say, there is nothing mentioned about him being a widower in the drama at all. If you read the "Dae Jang Geum" book, which was written by the writer of the drama, Sir Min is a widower there, but I'm quite sure he was not a widower in the drama.

I am SOOO glad Min was not a widower... anyways.. to your questions... 1) I don't think Hong Rina is popular in Korea... She is not talked about as much as Lady Choi or Han... but her character was verrryyy popular in korea because you couldn't really decipher if she was evil or pure at heart... 2)OH YESS..!!! LYA and YMK have casted in dramas ... and especially Lady Choi and Lady Jung... they are close like mother and daughter... Lady Choi calls Lady Jung "Mom" because they cast in the same dramas and usually, Lady Jung is casted as the mom. 3)I guess there IS a chance... but I doubt it, because JJH said that he was glad that the drama was finally over so now he could stop meeting the same people for over 6 months and get to meet new people... lol But it's something most of us wish isnt it? 4) JG and Min are 8 years apart... and I would think that the king would be much older than that... 5) Haha hard to believe. I read it from the DJG comic at IMBC... It said he was married to Geum Young before JG.. haha... no it's not true. I don't think the romance would not have been as good if he was a widower.. i hope this helps.. 4)

Thank you all!
I've never watched any Korean soap operas and DJG was the very first and it created quite an impression with me - and I am now addicted. Thanks to AZN channel - I am able to watch DJG reruns and did get to see "My Lovely Sam-soon" the past 2 weeks, which will be replaced by "Full House" tomorrow evening.
Like the Emmys and Soap Opera awards here - did DJG reap any awards for the actors and the series itself? I'd like to think that it would have won at least for best drama or something.

Lady Choi and the head court lady were in Who's My Love? as sisters, and Lady Jung was their aunt. I miss this show so much!!
