Few details I wanna ask... Dunno if it's been asked before though... ;D Hope you can help! 1) While Lady Han and Jang Geum were coming out of the palace (on the way to Jeju Island), Lady Choi and Geum Young were there watching too... Were they tearing? Why would they? Since they hated and feared Lady Han and Jang Geum, why did they send them off? Is it guilt or what? 2) Previous one leads to this question... When Right Prime Minister reported to King, he asked whether to execute LH and JG, and King said yes.. Hmmm but before that didn't Left Prime Minister find Right Prime Minister and I think sorta "threaten" to expose his dealings with Choi family or something unless he agreed to send LH and JG to exile? So why did Right Prime Minister still ask King to execute LH and JG, and after that send them to exile instead?... The chronology of events is rather confusing... 3) 1st episode--> Queen Mother given poison... I don't really understand why... The soldiers kept saying she was evil or sth along that line, that's why the King ordered to kill her... Can someone enlighten me? That's all for now! Will come back for more! HEHE.. Thanks in advance ;D Cheers, spfan

hi spfan,
Geum Young is not evil and she was a friend of Jang Geum for a long time. And Lady Choi, although she seems to be a bit more evil, she was a friend of Lady Han (and of JG's mom) when they were younger. Even if they did not enjoy the competition, they didn't want to see their them sent off like that. Once a long time ago, they were good friends.
I don't know about 2 and 3, I was a little confused myself. I am under the impression that the order to poision the Queen Mother was politically motivated to reduce her influence. Looking forward to seeing the answers to these questions.

I will try to answer the questions as best as I can.
1. KY was teary and LC had a sad look on her face. As the story is later told, even LC never wanted to participate in Choi family's evil ways. KY and LC were forced in the Choi Family's ways by their family tradition and her brother Choi Pan Sul. KY was a younger version of LC and she still had little bit of her innocence left in her. KY was JG's friend from childhood and perhaps that's why she was crying.
2. King had given orders to execute LH and JG but Minister Oh backed off after having been threatened to be exposed of his irregular business dealings. He made a deal with MJH's superiors to exile JG and LH instead.
3. Queen mother that was poisoned was a second wife to the king. She however was a very influencial queen and expressed her views on almost all state matters. Her family used her position to gain wealth (this is not told in the drama however). Naturally her strong position as a queen created many enemies within the palace and eventually she was removed. To prevent her ever from regaining power, those that opposed her propped up charges against her and killed her. This is the way I understood the story, hope it helped.

Thanks lifan and guest =)
I was wondering about GY and LC cos actually they really were nice people... But sometimes when the scenes which show them being evil comes on screen, I really really wonder about their integrity...
One more thing... 4) That vegetable "poisoning" incident, who set fire to the village?

There are a few confusing times in DJG. Some are historical and the assumption that "we" all know Korean history and a lot of the confusing things for me where the explanations that I missed since I do not understand Korean... had to have the wife explain a few things.
Later, Gman

5) How exactly did Main Doc set up his death? Cos when all his family members and servants were mourning, there was a body beside his clothes... Was it a dummy or sth? ERR how can it be? Unless his family members and servants were in it too?

I have no proof, but I believe it was a dummy. I do not think the family and servants were in it because at the end the main doc was banished from the palace and left with Yeo-I to go somewhere. I believe those two had some kind of relationship and I'm thinking the banishiment was as good excuse to leave his family and to settle down with Yeo-I.
Anyway thats my two cents. Please correct me if I am wrong.
