Hi all There have been numerous queries about technical issues on this board. Some of the questions were asked on differeent threads and you have guessed it, when you need to find the answers to these questions you simply couldn't find any of these threads...so, a dedicated thread could be the solution! ;D So my friends, if you have any technical questions, please post them on this dedicated thread ... Areaso?? The first 2 queries are: 1. How does one download a movie clip from YouTube? and 2. How do I upload my avatar picture?. 1. Yes, you can download movie clips from YouTube, because the movie format is in Flash (ie not mpeg) the movie files have to be saved as flash files (ie .flv file format) To play a your movie.flv flash file, you must have .flv flash movie player. This can be downloaded free of charge. The procedure: 1. Click this link to go to the Movie Downloader site: javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php# 2. As you will see from the illustration below, certain information my be entered or selected: To view movie clip, right click and select flv player as shown. The graphic below shows how you can after the first play back, move the "handle" left or right to go to the part of the video you like. ______________________________________________________________________________ Question 2. How do I upload my avatar picture?[/ size]
Step 1: Select "Profile" at the top of the home page.
Step 2: Then select "Modify Profile".
Step 3: Scroll down the page to the "Personal Information" section. You will notice there is a box for you to enter the URL of your avatar graphic. NB: Your avatar graphic must be on a website - or you can create your own, signup for a free graphic hosting account from www.photobucket.com, upload your graphic, then copy and paste the URL onto the box - see illustration below.
Tip: Create your avatar measuring 100 x100 pixel , make sure the setting is set at 100x100 as well - see illustration below.
Step 4: To complete the procedure, scroll down the page and click "Modify Profile".
Phew! now it is your turn ;D

My turn? Anyone want to know how to sew a dress or paint or somethin'? LOL. Thank you, ukfan. I'm sure this thread will be well-used and referenced.
A word of warning--I plan to delete from this thread any posts (except mine of course LOL) that do NOT have to do with technical matters or questions. So post those things elsewhere.

I have a question about the flv player. If you want to go back to a certain part of the clip, how can you do that? Is it possible?

I have a question about the flv player. If you want to go back to a certain part of the clip, how can you do that? Is it possible? The answer to your question is YES, there is a slider underneath the time bar which you can using the left button (click, hold and drag left or right) and the click PLAY to continue. Hope that helps ukfan PS,. I have added another graphic above to illustrate how to go to the part of the movie clips you want.

1. i'm in singapore, which time zone am i at? i thought western australia should be the same time zone, but they are one hour ahead of us? spfan/ hanbok, which time zone did you choose?
2. ukfan, what software do you use to capture screen (such as the above, e.g. you capture the computer screen, and also add in the nice red lines/words)?
thank you, minty

Then after you answer that, I got questions for video clips Hi lifan, I assume you are referring to capturing screen shots from your DVD play back? If so, then I would suggest you use a DVD Player software (WinDVD 7 - the Gold version would do) that has a screen shot capturing tool - see www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jspThis is the software I use. The Windows "Print Screen" feature is not designed for this job. Also, there are dedicated software for capturing screen shots off DVD play backs but I have not come across one that is user friendly...yet. Anyway I hope I have answered your question, and if you or anyone else have any technical questions, post them on this thread and either myself or someone on this board would be delighted to help. ;D Minty: I am glad you have finally uploaded your avatar..well done! ;D ukfan

Hi Minty
1. You can use the Windows "Print Screen" feature to capture static graphics..this is quite adequate. But, I use SNAGIT a professional piece of software to capture screen shots (you can google to get more details on this software)
2. I guess you can ask any technical including Blogs as well. I think! Bo, could you clarify this please?
3. Time zone? I guess you are referring to the time set on this board. Well, minty...the time zone set for this board is that of Chicago if I am not mistaken because this is the Chicago Korean Drama Club - am I right Bo?
Time zone: Singapore's is the same as that of Western Australia (Perth) but it is one hour behind eastern Australia (Sydney).
4. Photobucket? No, is the answer, as long as the graphics you are using are on a website somewhere then it is fine. I mentioned Photobucket , because it is a free service and of course you do need to host your own graphics before you can copy and paste the URL.
That's it isn't it? ;D

As for the capturing screen shots of a movie player, I would recommend ALShow Movie Player that I'm using now. You know, Koreans are not only making decent dramas but also providing good softwares for free nowadays. ;D Yes, It's FREE. It can play back any video format, avi, wmv, mpeg...... even ram, mov. Simply pressing F9 key will capture the screen shots that you are seeing into the designated folder. FF/RW, volume-up/downs are all controlled by arrow keys, and play/pause space bar. It also has so many other handy features that infamous Windows Media Player has never dreamed of. See what features this ALShow has... www.altools.net/ALTools/ALShow/tabid/57/Default.aspxAnd if you like it, download it here.... www.altools.net/Downloads/tabid/81/Default.aspxGood luck to lifan.

There you have it lifan!...our Korean friend "Visitor" has come to the rescue..check out the software and give us some feedback.
Thanks "Visitor" I did not know the existence of this product as I am only familiar with mainstream software. How is this product being promoted?
