It is very rude of you to make such a stupid remark. If you are not interested in this thread/topic please don't waste you time here. If you have anything to contribute either find a thread you like or start your own, please don't go round passing childish judgement and ridiculous remarks! Speaking on behalf of all regular contributors on this board I think you should show some repect and manners! We all come to this board because of our appreciation of DJG and help each other out on any issues connected with this drama so manners please!!!!!! Evange: I did do a bit of research of how kimchi is made and there are tons of recipes online, so if I still can't find a supplier I think I will make some myself, and by the way if you didn't see any more postings from me you know why! ;D uk fan

Eh...PMP version has really horrible English sub...but its Chinese sub aren't that good either...i've to constantly switch between the 2 while watching DJG...haha~ Actually in Singapore, there are 2 versions being sold in the stores. One is by Poh Kim Video which until recently only has chinese subtitles but now they came up with one that has english subtitles. I watched the one with chinese subtitles and the subtitles were good though film quality was so so only. The other supplier is Bluemax which is selling a version by Asia Star International that has a choice of chinese or english subtitles. I bought that set to keep/re-watch as the quality of the discs was supposedly better than the Poh Kim version. The chinese subtitles are the same as the Poh Kim one and english ones seem OK though I didn't try (much prefer to read the chinese subtitles).

I have to look up the dictionary for this! ;D I'm very glad you got your DVD set and I hope your English friend would really appreciate it. ;D Yes, I will check out your film recommendations...thanks for that. I do know a fair bit about your country's recent history and North Korean being what it is, do they know Christmas at all? I really feel for them and a thought and a prayer for them I think! Anyway, because I live in a small town, my local supermarkets do not stock kimchi and there isn't any China town here either as there are only a handful of Chinese living in part of England. I guess I have to travel to Manchester to go to the nearest China Town - not to worry though, I will make some myself ;D All the best...and Annyonghi gaseyo and we all hope to see back on this board soon PS. Yes, it is getting cold here and apparently this winter is going to be the coldest for 20 years! And because it is a coastal town, we don't get much snow if at all so it can't be as cold as Seoul ;D uk fan

Just to check with you, does any of the 2 sets you mentioned had missing scenes, mine(labeled PMP from malayisa) had a 15min scene(Jang Geum had just joined the royal hospital and was about to be driven away together with Xin Fei) cropped off.

Do you mean the scene where both of them didn't agree to go to the party as subsititute prostitutes? The Poh Kim one definitely has that scene but the one I bought (the Asia Star one) I am not sure as I didn't watch that particular episode again yet. But the scene should be there as well.

Nope, its the scene where they were sabo by the imperial physician(zheng) by sending them to the lousy doc for training and then after the cockup pushed the blame to jang geum and xin fei, insisting they should go to the hui min shu

Is that the scene?

yessiong,
i'm in sydney and i was told by the video shop person (whom i bought my dvd set from) that there was only one supplier to aus who supplied a version with chinese, eng, malay subs. i was told it's produced in hk. it's a green box cover with red and blue dvd containers. the version is produced by 'two stars'.
anyway, i think that may actually be the PMP version (say PMP sold their rights to a hk company), b/c i version i have has a 10min cut in the scene you talked about plus there's about a 20 second cut in the scene where min jo ho overhears the king saying he wanted to appoint JG as his doctor, and turns to walk holding his resignation letter in his hand. in the real version, he walks for another 10 or so seconds with the camera zooming into the letter in his hands. in my version, as soon as he overhears the king, turns around, walks 2 or 3 steps, it's then cut to the next scene where the queen is in her room. you can tell there's a cut b/c there's an awkward jump in songs in the soundtrack.
i think they recorded the wrong song in the bit where JG is putting her letter in his adopted parent's home just before min ho guy overhears the king's appointment of JG. i've seen two dvd versions of the same scene and i think the songs in the background were diff, though i can't remember which song it was.
if my version is the pmp version...the eng subs aren't that bad. they made a few mistakes in the story line, the worst one being the bit where JG's real dad talks to the spiritual master and he says his life is influenced by 3 women. it subs the 1st woman as something like 'you didn't kill her but she died', which is completely wrong. there are a few spelling mistakes and a few things that are grammatically wrong, but you get a very good idea of what's happening. i would give the subs 7.5/10. it runs quite close to the cantonese audio, and if there are translation mistakes from the korean then i hope my learning of korean will rectify that! ;D
the screen quality is not bad...some parts are maybe a bit 'pixelated', but it's manageable for the eyes.
