dued - I'm afraid you won't get much help posting that here, as we are all just fans, also. I think the station management barely knows this board exists, if at all. The only person from the station who is involved with this board is Michael Han (he set it rolling), who does the subtitles for JG, but, sadly, he seems to have less influence at the station than he should. You probably ought to contact the station directly to ask, but I don't know if it'd do any good. I can definitely see the problem of English subtitles obscuring the explanatory Korean subtitles. This also happens in 'The Age of Warriors', where I would like to be able to see the characters' names when they appaer onscreen, since there are so many that I find it hard to keep them all straight The only alternative I could see would be closed-captioning, which not every TV set is equipped for, and is rather ugly, as well. Since I think it's doubtful that the staion would re-run the show, I think your best bet would be to rent it on video, although that costs money, so it's not an ideal solution either.

Dued, you're out of luck. I second Soju's recommendation of renting video from your local Korean video store (most of Korean grocery stores have video rentals inside). Relatively speaking, renting Korean video is cheap! (4 videos = $ 5; whereas in Blockbuster it's about $3.75 for 1 video).

I think the pros to airing the dramas with subtitles outweigh the cons. I agree with Soju's recommendation about renting the videos if you'd like to rewatch the drama. Like Michael said, renting videos from a Korean store is cheap. Also, most video stores carry a large selection of dramas and shows. You can rent videos for stuff, including SBS dramas, that KBC doesn't air.

dued, Who cares what the Japanese said. You can get all the episodes on DVD in Korean. The only chance we gringos have to enjoy this terrific show is with the sub-titles graciously provided by KBC28. Don't be so greedy. Sandra

Sandra, we could learn to speak Korean. . .
Easier said than done, though.

Actually...I've learned the more that you watch Korean television, certain phrases and terms you start to pick up and understand, even if you don't watch the shows with the subtitles, you'll start to pick up on whats going on. thanks to the subtitles however,,I know what these phrases mean:) But I have been greatly encouraged to study the Korean language and I'll be picking up the course next semester...Thanks ch28!!!!!!

So true! I'm not Korean, and here in Honolulu, our wonderful Korean station airs DJG without subtitles (they figured no non-Korean would want to watch a historical series about the trials and tribulations of Korea's first female royal physician--they are so, so wrong! ). They didn't know I graduated from watching Yeoin Cheonha (Woman's World/Ladies of The Palace) which was also unsubtitled, so yes, I do know how to cuss and act nasty a la a royal concubine in Korean! ;D
