I'm sorry to say my vcr skills failed me. Can someone fill me in on what happened in the Saturday night/Sunday morning episode? Better yet, would anyone who taped it be willing to loan me the tape?
Just as a general note, it's helpful when asking for info on an episode to tell us what you "last saw"--which, I assume, was Jang-geum discovering the theft of the records and, mixed in with them, her mother's notebook.
Also, I believe JP and Walter both tape all the episodes--it said so a few posts back.
That said--Here's what happened, if you care to read it.
1) Lady Choi looks at the books and records and sees they are only books and public records--I'm not sure what she expected, but maybe she thought they'd have listed everyone's nefarious deeds in particular. She tells Young-ro and Keum-young that the notebook is only Lady Han's old notebook that she kept when she was a worker lady.
2) JG goes to the kitchen and tells her friends the books are missing. Lady Han asks them what's up, and they tell her (JG omitting her mother's notebook). Lady H says, the books will be returned, because people are only nervous and want to know what's happening.
3) Young-ro returns the books and is caught (not quite red-handed) by JG. She denies she took them. JG looks through the books and demands to know where the notebook is. YR denies knowledge of the book, but in the yard, she sneaks it out of her sleeve. She thinks it's Lady Han's notebook and that JG was cheating by having this knowledge, so she's going to read it. JG's friend discovers YR reading the book and takes it; they play keep-away until Lady Han takes the book away; she demands to know what it is, and YR realizes it's not Lady Han's book--she says she 'found' it. Lady H reads it and realizes it's the book of her friend, Park Myoung; she takes it back to her room to puzzle; meantime, JG is going crazy.
4) YR goes to Keum-young to whine. KY drags YR to Lady Choi; YR tells Lady C the notebook is not Lady H's, and maybe it belonged to another kitchen girl from her youth. Lady Choi realizes whose notebook it is. She is so stunned, she just sits there remembering all the stuff that happened when KY was trying to hide the amulet and JG got caught, also that her brother told her Myoung had died and that Myoung had a son, but it must be a daughter--JG! KY tells YR to observe JG; then she comes in to Lady Choi and demands to know why she's upset, and Lady C tells KY how she destroyed Myoung. KY tells Lady C that Lady H and JG obviously don't know each other's true identity, or Lady H would have banished YR when she found the notebook. RELAX! she says. We'll handle it.
5) Jang-geum tries to decide if she should give her mother's sealed letter (which she's never opened) to Lady H (she goes to dig it up and look at it); then she decides her mother's friend (remember, she left a letter for her with the buried persimmon vinegar) might help. She looks at the vinegar, but the letter's still there; she decides to search the kitchens for the vinegar to see if she can find the woman that way. We see a hand reaching under the pavilion and stealing JG's letter.
6) The King is having a fit about all of this waste and corruption because the kingdom is on precarious financial footing. He wants Sir Choi's monopoly broken and more oversight. Sir Oh tells his minions that's okay, he'll fake the whole thing so he still get all the pickings. However, he figures out (with some help) that Captain Min is behind the investigations. He says that guy must be eliminated. YK finds this out, goes to Min and says if he does not stop this, he will be killed. Also, she says that she personally will denounce him and JG to the authorities, so Lady H will be deposed and JG will be killed, because those are the rules. She also blames him for the fact that she has turned evil, because she is jealous of him and JG. He gets his superiors to send him to a rural province, but he's really still on the case. Sir Oh decides to let him wait awhile for his fate, but take care of the problem in the kitchens.
7) Surprisingly
, it turns out Y-R stole J-G's letter. She gives it to YK, who reads it and almost has a heart attack. YK gives it to Lady Choi, who also has palpitations. They go to Sir Choi, where YK finds out about what's in store for Min (see what she does under 6 above) and Lady Choi tells him who J-G is and shows him the letter. They tell him JG and Lady H don't know about each other yet. He is infuriated and plainly terrified. Lady C says, they "have no choice" about what to do with Lady H.
8) Lady Han calls all the kitchen head ladies together and scolds them about the book cooking. However, she'll cover it up just this one time, they'd better not ever do it again. She has won their loyalty and admiration.
9) YK tells Lady Choi that she will take care of JG and Lady H all by herself.
10) Lady Han runs out of the persimmon vinegar when she makes a table for the king. The king acts like he's had the stuff before, and she is puzzled. While she's gone, JG discovers the empty vinegar jar and recognizes the vinegar, but none of the young brides know to whom it belongs (which is odd, because they'd certainly know Lady H). Lady H goes back to her kitchen and gets the vinegar jar to fill it. JG feels under the pavilion for the box with her letter and thinks the letter is still there; she asks her mother (mentally) for permission to tell Lady Han, since she can't find her mom's friend. JG comes in the kitchen and discovers it was Lady Han's vinegar jar and runs out to find her. Lady H discovers the letter and realizes who JG is, and runs through the yard. The last scene, both run into each other, crying, and bow. "Jang-geum-ah" says Lady H. "Mamanim" says JG.
End.
This is not in exact order, as you probably can tell, but I think I covered everything that happened.
