Oh, you guys have dirty minds.
Really, I have been thinking about posts on this board, about how Min-jae might be an Oh and Ji-hoon might be related to the Lees and Mrs Oh the First might have committed suicide, and I think I'll throw in my (long-awaited, I'm sure) two cents. You're all looking at the evening broadcast now, so I'm free to ramble...
A) Min-jae is a Kang, not an Oh. In-huan and Soon-young are not stupid, they would know if this was possible, and besides, they are not people who would fool around before marriage.
B) Mrs Oh 1 was killed by a hit and run driver. His name is Park Tae-il. He should have stopped and helped her, but he did not, because he was a bloody coward. He went home, he told his wife exactly what happened, she witnessed the body and death. Even if someone had come along after him and hit the woman again, or even beat her head in with a rock, it's still his fault, because he left her in the road to be run over or whatever might happen. Whether or not he could have saved her life by taking her to the hospital doesn't matter, either, because he ran away and didn't even give her that chance.
C) Anything's possible with the squirt. We haven't heard the name of MK's aunt's husband, yet--he could be the mysterious missing father, hiding in America from all of his illegitimate projeny. The jerk.
I think Yellow Handkerchief (as was pointed out in a previous post) did a better job (timing and realism) with forgiveness and reconciliation. However, I do like how these OMR actors are carrying the story. Hyun-kyu did seem to have had a sudden turnaround, but he seems like that type of person. Maybe he was just ready for it. Maybe he needed Hye-ran (she of the fluid features ) to bring him around. One thing I never liked on YH was that Sang-min needed to get cancer to give up on his son. Everyone around him (except his father) told him he was being selfish and unreasonable, and I thought it would have been so much greater if he had that epiphany just because he learned something--how that would have truly redeemed him.
That said, here we have a situation where true forgiveness must be spread around to all concerned to have a satisfying ending. Here is my fantasy ending:
1) Hyun-kyu confesses to Mr Oh who Hye-ran's father is. After much soul-searching and talk with his faithful spouse, Oh goes to Hye-ran's father and after speaking with him, realizes that Mr Park is truly sorry and just a weak man who made a terrible mistake. Oh then goes to Hyun-kyu, and they both decide to forgive Mr Park, and they do, formally.
2) Hyun-kyu manages to convince Hye-ran that he just got cold feet and that he was afraid he'd hurt her or some such nonsense like that. (She's not that bright.) They get married, and Hye-ran never finds out what her father did. Oh and Hyun-kyu and HR's parents never tell anyone about it.
3) Mean granny has a dream in which Mrs Oh 1 comes to her and says that although she was miserable in life, it was all granny's fault for forcing In-huan to marry her. Therefore, in her afterlife, she has learned that if granny doesn't want to burn, she has to mend her ways immediately and reconcile to Soon-young and her son. (HAH. Top THAT.) Kwi-boon, being a coward at heart and deeply superstitious, immediately does so. End of problem.
I think Min-jae and Yu-gin will be happy and that Mal-bong will fall in love with MJ. Yu-gin is a pistol, she's determined to be happy, and she'll be the best thing that ever happened to Min-jae (after Mr Oh). I also think Yu-kyung and Hye-sung will end up happy and married, as will Soon-ok and Tae-ho, because when people are made for each other, what can get in the way? [That, of course, is a joke.] There might be trouble from Mi-joo's father, but Mr Suh can certainly handle that dweeb. Keum-ja will divorce Tae-il, and marry Ki-soo. I don't care what Jade thinks.
Now. Let's not have any West Coaster's insinuating any future info to me, or I'll sic Jade on them.
