I don't know about anyone else (of course), but I was far more moved by their meeting, where Min-jae offered to be a real brother to H-K, than by what happened when Hyun-kyu dumped Hye-ran. I already knew that was going to happen (and for the record, his meeting with H-R's mother was very affecting). But here was Min-jae opening himself up, really for the very first time, as an effort to help Hyun-kyu with whatever his problem was. It was incredibly sad. I think I was weeping so hard the guy fixing the roof of my building stopped work to see if he needed to rescue someone. Stupid Hyun-kyu. I know that's how drama has to work, but still. Stupid Hyun-kyu.

I'm trying to figure out what could possibly have been his reasoning for refusing MJ's help. He obviously doesn't know what to do.
And that this is what irks me: Hk's always willing to stick his nose in when it is not necessary and usually with awkward results (necklace in front of Yujin, giving MJ cash) and now that he obviously needs help (even if it is just someone to hear him think out his thoughts out loud) he rejects it and makes it nearly impossible for a future reconciliation.
What a "pabo". (phonetically spelling out 'fool' in korean)

I too was very affected by the near revelation scene between the stepbrothers. It was heartbreaking how Hyun-gyu who has just been blasted by this bombshell he never could've anticipated that's rocked him to his core and is now costing him the love of his life and is dealing w/ all of it completely alone rejected the chance to unburden himself to an older brother he has recently grown closer to and who might be able to offer him support and comfort. We know he wanted to tell him...we heard him think it out loud...but somehow he couldn't allow himself to reach out to Min-jae who certainly would've lent a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on, if nothing else.
I cried at the scene too and agree it was extremely moving... and I agree it was much more moving than the meeting in the coffee shop between HG and HR yesterday.
As for why HG is reticent to take MJ into his confidence on something he really shouldn't be handling alone when he rarely shows concern about butting in places, that's really the reverse isn't it? It's one thing to feel free to stick your nose where it's not been invited and meddle with things that don't concern you, and quite another to let someone else into your own business.
I agree he's acting a fool...but perhaps a lot of that can be attributed the shock he's in right now. I hope he'll wise up later when all of it has had a chance to sink in and register with him.
