I too am wondering what the connection is. Going out on a limb here, but I think Hye-Ran's father is somehow connected to Hye-Ran's mother's death. Didn't she die in a car accident? And could this also be the reason for Hye-Ran's father's disappearance ? Just guessing, always trying to figure ahead of the game. ;D

I agree w/you NiNi.. Hye ran's mother's connection to Min jae's father will cause a big problem.. And regarding Hye ran's father... I only know that Hye ran's father was hiding out from the mob guys that he owed money to. Apparently he has been gone many many years & the family has come to assume he is dead. It's possible that he is still living. I know Hye ran has ill feelings towards her father because of the situation her family is in because of her father's debt being passed on to them. You know it won't be easy for Hye ran & Hyun kyu to get together but my heart tells me that someday they will end up together. Just as I feel someday Min jae will find his way to Yu jin....

Sorry that should have read Hyun-Kyu's mother, not Hye-Ran's. Duh! Long day.

There are so many theories as to how Mr.Oh and Hye-Ran's mother are some how connected. I have about four of my own theories ToTo. I can see where you're coming from with your guess, but the way that Hye-Ran's mother reacted to hearing that Mr.Oh's first wife had been killed in a car accident makes me believe that the connection is more deeper than that. Homegirl almost jumped out of her skin when she heard that Mr.Oh's first wife was dead. As OMR continues, more clues will eventually come out. I just need a few more episodes to make my final theory , but until then I'll continue to give my other theories more thought. And I wish that Min-jae will come to his senses and go to Yujin and that somebody would put that old hag out of her misery.

;D GOOD NEWS FOR THOSE WONDERING WHAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HYE-RAN'S MOM (Yoon Yeo Jung OR YYJ) AND HYUN-KYU'S AND MIN-JAE'S DAD ;D :: ;D. WELL, IF ANYONE CAN REMEMBER BACK TO EPISODE 11, ???I THINK IT WAS, THERE WAS VALUABLE INFORMATION THERE WHICH EVEN I MISSED AT FIRST, BUT THEN WENT BACK AND TRIED TO MAKE THE CONNECTION. DURING THE TIME YYJ AND MIN-JAE'S MOM WERE PREPARING THE MEMORIAL FOOD, MIN-JAE'S MOM OFFERS YYJ SOME MONEY FOR COMING AT THE LAST MOMENT. SHE REFUSES AND SAYS TO THINK OF IT AS A "GOOD DEED FOR THE DEAD." THEN MIN-JAE'S MOM ASKS HER IS SHE KNEW HYUN-KYU'S MOM. UNCOMFORTABLY, YYJ DENIES IT AND GOES AWAY W/OUT TAKING THE MONEY. THEN, HYUN-KYU'S DAD COMES HOME AND HIS WIFE TELLS HIM THAT THE EX-MAID KNEW HIS LATE WIFE. THERE, I THINK, LIES THE TRUE RELATIONSHIP. I THINK THAT HYE-RAN'S DAD, THE ABANDONER, MIGHT COME TO THE FAMILY. I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT I HAVE A HUNCH. WELL, ABOUT WHAT nsheldon SAID ABOUT MIN-JAE FINDING HIS WAY TO YU-GIN. WELL, IN EPISODE 14 WE SEE THAT HYE-RAN REALLY LIKES HYUN-KYU WHEN SHE DOES NOT PUSH HERSELF AWAY FROM HIS GRASP. INSTEAD, SHE HUGS HIM BACK. SO.... THAT LEAVES POOR MIN-JAE ONLY TO YU-GIN. YOU SEE, THERE IS ALWAYS A PURPOSE FOR A CHARACTER, BIG OR SMALL. OH! AND IN THE OPENING SONG OF "OMR,"YU-GIN'S PICTURE COMES FIRST, THEN MIN-JAE. THEN HYUN-KYU, THEN HYE-RAN. YOU SEE, IN KOREA AND IN OTHER ASIAN COUNTRIES, THE WOMAN (BRIDE/GIRLFRIEND/WIFE, ETC.) IS ALWAYS TO THE RIGHT OF THE MALE. SO THERE MIGHT BE A FURTHER RELATIONSHOP BETWEEN MIN-JAE AND YU-GIN. I LIKED THEIR PAIR IN "SO THIS IS LOVE" AND WISH THEY WOULD GET TOGETHER IN THIS. HOPE THIS INFO HELPS SOME PEOPLE.

We've seen a couple of flashbacks from Kum-ja. First was In-hwan thanking a man, who then salutes him. Kum-ja sees this, and then watches In-hwan drive off. The man he was thanking does not seem to know Kum-ja. Then, Kum-ja has a dream where, in the poruing rain, a barefoot man is chased and beaten by a gang of thugs. Signifigantly, his face is not shown. Kum-ja awakens from this dream, and wonders,"Honey, are you really dead?" It's not clear whether the dream is something that really, or only might have, happened. In terms of chronology, it's been about twenty years since In-hwan's first wife died, and about ten years since Kum-ja's husband disapeared. What can be made of this? Not a lot, yet. But on KBS's site, in the OMR cast section, **** Not really a spoiler, but I'll put in some space **** **** ... rose.kbs.co.kr/story/cast.html , there is a place-holder for Hyr-ran's father, Park Tae-il, who will be played by Lee Cheong-gil, who played Hee-gap in 'Who's My Love'. A Babelfish translation off his background is typically incomrehensible (something about a "golden letter"), but this is intriguing: "... commits a fraud even from China and with help of the Korean woman who assists oneself where neither the situation which will go back becomes it becomes fixed and the Korean woman dies ...". Could that be In-hwan's first wife?

I didn't see any scenes about In hwan thanking someone & saluting??? I did see the man (assumed to be Hye ran's father) in the rain being beaten... I am quite sure he won't be 'dead' but in hiding due to the money he owes that group (mob)... I think we don't always get entire scenes & sometimes that causes confusion because even a little tiny event in a scene can clarify something. I know I've heard people indicate they can watch the show again the next morning & see scenes that were missing from the nite before... Think in CA there is no 'repeat' of the show (that I've ever known about).. I was very disappointed when YH left out important scenes at the very end ... Thankfully, people in the mid-west and/or east filled us in .....

It's in episode 7. Kum-ja has just gone to work for Mal-bong, when she sees a picture of In-hwan and Dong-po. She aske if it is In-hwan, and Mal-bong says, yes, and then tells how his first wife died in a car accident.
Upon hearing this, Kum-ja is visibly shocked, and drops her teacup. Mal-bok thinks Kum-ja had burned herself from the hot tea.
Then, while cleaning in the bathroom, Kum-ja has the flashback, to be snapped out of it by the sink overflowing.

i'm so glad you guys brought this up..i programmed my vcr to record the first episodes of OMR since i regretted missing the beginning of YH, but when i started watching them, i realized there was some type of mysterious connection between the families, and then proceeded to get weirded out because i was afraid that hye-ran and min-jae were some how related ..and because min-jae's grandmother treats him as she treats the help/daughter in law, i had no reason to think otherwise..so i turned it off (i also think part of me missed YH and its characters, and was probably just pouting )..i'm now slowly easing myself back in with the help of the message boards..so thanks everybody!
