Does anyone know if there will be any more English subtitled shows coming up? My only recourse is to learn Korean, and believe me English is my first language and I'm still learning that. ;D

I've watched two major period/historical dramas W/OUT subtitles and it is too much WORK! Besides, there's a waitlist to get into the Korean language classes--it's run by this lady who thinks she is the reincarnation of Confucius (with Shiseido make-up! ;D).

Pretty sure Korean is taught at some Jr. Colleges in Chicago metro areas. Try Wilson for one, right at edge of Little Korea neighborhood.

If you're talking about Truman College, it's not at the edge of Seoul Drive. It's about 14 minutes Southeast of there. Now, if you're in the neighborhood of Uptown, let me know---i can give you a tour! (shameless self-promotion:) www.uptown-chicago.com

Last year I did some searching for Korean-language classes at community colleges. The only ones I could find were offered by Oakton CC, at their Des Plaines River campus, and only weekdays, during the day.
Mind you, this is just what the catalog said. I once wanted to register for a Beginning Japanese class at Wright CC, but wa told that even though the course was listed in the catalog, it hadn't actually been given for years.

I would say even THINKING of learning Korean quickly is an hallucination. I woudl think 2 years of classes to understand a lot of the soaps as QUICKLY.
Some years ago the Russian immigrants at a job were MAD I did not want to teach "one" English and could have gotten a daughter-wife (18-20 year old). Just teach her English.

Darned universities, lying to people again! Just proves the innate worthlessness of the elite literati! Down with education! Gimme some cake! Bo

I learned ASL (sign language) in one semister but you have to PRACTICE all the time after that and LEARN.
TRY reading fast sign as if listening to Korean.
I DID NOT want to use it at work and the heck at NIGHT!

Aren't they on the same street? Devon has everybody. Bo No, not everybody. I think Devon has mostly Indian, Pakistani, orthodox Jews and secular humanists <pun intended>. Korean-American community is quickly realizing that Koreans don't really make a Korea town as Chinese do for China town. Koreans are scattering across the Chicagoland. Lawrence Ave. used to be known as "Seoul St" some time ago, but it is no longer a Korean street. Some say Golf-Mil area, a northern suburb, is becoming next "Lawrence" but we'll wait and see.
