I see from the Korean Wiz site that there is a new MBC drama (comedy?) by this name starring Choi Sul Jong (Cha Tae-woo in "On the Green Prairie"). The pictures look very cute. Does anyone know anything about this? It hasn't been seen in the US, apparently, if in fact it's even begun to air in Korea yet.

It's now showing where I live (via TAN) and it's pretty good. There are a lot of characters I don't recognize. If you watched Yellow Handkerchief, it stars the man who plays Sangmin's father (the "actor"). He's not very likeable in this show. He's a man who left his wife many years ago to live with his young mistress who fathered his son. He's not divorced and his wife had to raise her 3 children alone. It's (so far) about the tensions of a split family and the "taboo" of divorce. HTH! Melissa

Thanks, Melissa! Now, did you mean that the guy from Yellow Hanky wasn't likeable, or is that the Green Prairie actor? It would be hard for me to believe Choi Sul-Jong, with those cute round baby cheeks, as an adulterer!

Sorry about that! ;D
It's the guy from Yellow Handkerchief (SangMin's father) who isn't very nice (thus far) in the show.
I just can't place anyone from OTGP in this show.....was Cha Tae Woong the guy who was sick? I don't see him in this show....and yes, Ireally liked him too...can't imagine him not being likeable!
Actually, the girl from Bodyguard in is it (the main bodyguard) and ..... most of the others are new (new for me anyway!).

Oops! Disregard! It's another drama that I'm talking about....sorry about that! This one I'm looking forward to seeing! I hope it's subtitled. If you find my brain, I really need it back! Melissa

OK, I gotcha--you're *not* watching Wars of the Roses, the Choi SJ vehicle. For the record, yes, Tae-woong (Choi) is the one who got sick and was married to Yon-ho (the very adorable Chae Rim, who, just FYI, was cute before but then had plastic surgery [nose job] and is now cuter than a basket of puppies). She had already had the surgery by the time of OTGP. And she and Choi together, IMO = cute as an Easter basket full of fluffy, peeping chicks.

Melissa You must be talking about the KBS drama 'More Beautiful Than A Flower'. I hope they air that here in Chicago. It's a good drama. It won the award for Best drama at the Baeksang Awards in March. I'd also like to see the KBS drama 'Only 18 years old'/18 year old bride'.

I think the show you're discussing (the one with Sang-min's father from YH, and Yu-jin from Bodyguard) is running in Los Angeles right now, but here it's called "Beauty Beyond Expression" (at least, I'm guessing it's the same drama - it has the same actors you mention). It has English subtitles, but even though it features gorgeous Han Go Eun (Bodyguard's Yu-jin) I've had trouble really getting into this drama, so far.
Also, the other drama Knov1 mentions ("Sweet 18 Bride") begins tonight here in Los Angeles - with English subtitles, they promise.
Sure hope they make it to Chicago someday (with their subtitles intact)!

YES! Thank you! Hmmm....I wonder if TAN isn't showing that other show "Sweet 18 Bride" because they "usually" have two subtitled long dramas (in addition to the daily) Monday thru Thursday. Saturday and Sunday we have the Pearl Necklace. Right now we have subtitled: OMR (M-F), Age of Warriors (M/T), Match Made In Heaven (W/Th), More Beautiful than a Flower (W/Th), Pearl Necklace (Sa/Su). (Jang-geum is the other drama on M/T but for some reason, they didn't subtitle it) I can't wait until Age of Warriors ends....not into it AT ALL! ;D Sorry Lucy! More Beautiful than a Flower.....Wars of the Roses.....Easy to see how I could get SO confused! Melissa

Yes, indeed! She’s the lead actress in “Sweet 18 Bride,” playing a kind of psycho-partygirl who’s determined to marry a straight-laced city attorney (the marriage already having been pre-arranged by the two fathers when she was a toddler).
And there are a lot of other familiar faces, too, including Sang-doo’s rival (the doctor) from “Sang-doo, Let’s Go to School!” (who plays the young city attorney) and the grumpy grandpa from “Who’s My Love” (who plays the city attorney’s ultra-traditional father).
So far, “Sweet 18 Bride” has gotten rave reviews from the L.A. crowd, and I have to admit that I’m among the show’s new fans. It’s a weird, quirky, comedy-drama that caught my attention from the very first episode, and I really hope it soon makes it to Chicago. I think you’d all really enjoy it.
