Episodes: 195 213
Writer: Kim Young Gon Director: Pyo Jae Sun
Broadcast Date: Apr. 2~ Dec. 28, 1973 Cast: - Kim Young Ae as Empress Myeongseong (1/4)
- Jeong Hye Seon as Dowager Jo
- Kim Seong Ok as Heungseon Daewongun
- Jung Wook as King Gojong
- Baek Il Seop, Yun Yeo Jeong, Kim Hye Ja, Park Gyu Chae, Park Jeong Ja
While Daewongun '72 was popular, this show was even more popular, and this is one of the four times Kim Young Ae's played Empress Myeongseong (the other times were in Imperial Prince Ui (MBC 1980), Wind and Cloud (KBS 1982) and An Jung Geun (SBS 1996)).

This one got me scrambling...daily drama judging from the run dates and episode count. Into the timeline.
Didn't have the Prince Ui series in the timeline, turns out it was only 3 episodes but in it goes too.
An Jung Geun, not in the timeline and can't turn up anything online about it in English. Can you clue me in on it at all? Much appreciated, as always.

Are there any differences with that and the KBS special on YouTube? Or are they too similar?

I think the two shows are based on the same source material - the director and writer are the same, and SBS was in the habit of remaking stuff at the time.

Further look into the newspapers indicates 213 episodes, but I'll have to check across multiple papers to see if this included recap episodes like KBS' King Sejong did at the time.
Edit: None of the newspapers were counting the episodes like they did for Sejong, so I guess 213 is our new number!
