Really enjoyed this one. There weren't any scenes or moments that stood out in particular, but just as far as telling us the real historical story of what happened during the second invasion, it was very interesting. Also emotionally moving to see the terrible trauma that was inflicted on the country and its people. All of the villages being abandoned and everyone having to flee into the mountains to try to survive, it's awful to think about.
"Take Choe Yangbaek with you." Seriously? So obviously Choe U never got the lowdown on Yangbaek's knuckleheaded screw-up.
Hey, Subeop! Been a long time. Wish we'd seen more of his travels. Just from his talking we got some valuable perspective on what's going on out in the countryside.
Okay finally we get an attempt to show the Ganghwa layout. Was that so hard?
Sartai: "No one will survive, not even a puppy." Does that mean he's stopped fixating on the ants?
Well knock me over with a feather. So they didn't just let the Wola thing turn into a dead end after all. Sure would not have bet on it resurfacing after all this time. I don't really care for this plot twist--kinda silly that a Wola doppelganger just suddenly shows up in the middle of a war zone; what possible good will this add to the story?--but give the series big-time credit for having a plan and sticking to it.
Sartai: "How typical. Everywhere we go there isn't so much as an ant." Never mind.
KJ: "Why wasn't the Tripitaka moved to a safe place before this?" THANK you.
The king, showing up at Kim Yakson's home: "I was curious about Ganghwa so I dressed down a little." There was a Hangul caption during this scene with a number 23 that suggested a date. Was this recorded as happening in real history?
Songi: "So the little schemer was asking after my husband? I know she was trouble from the start." Yeah first impression isn't good, is it.
Choe to Park Songbi about Yakson: "Stop making excuses and make a man out of him." Just a suggestion, you could start by taking away his pink robe.
Choe: "It's my fault. For not giving in to Songi." Wow there's an eye-opener, to think his opinions of KJ and Yakson have changed so much.
Getting awfully tired of the evil laughter.
Sartai: "Raiding villages, taking their women...Those were the days." Yeah dude, good times. Sheesh. BTW Keumgang really did kill Sartai in real history so good for the series for depicting it that way. You get the feeling that they're going to burn the Tripitaka out of vengeance for his death, and I'm not sure there was a direct connection (Anybody else know?)...but maybe so. Anyway here's the narration:
So we're halfway through! A few problems here and there but on the whole it's been wonderful so far. Hope it keeps up.

A singular event indeed. Sartai died at the hands of the monk Kim Yunhu. Sartai, who twice invaded Koryo. Sartai, who led a vast army, rode out alone with his generals one night only to meet the warrior monks of Koryo. And so the second Koryo-Mongol war spiraled into chaos."Spare me. I'll give you anything you want. Spare me." Not sure Sartai would really beg for his life like that; wonder if it's more of the stereotyping to go along with the evil laughter. But either way, didn't it seem like this may have been a mistake by Keumgang? Maybe the killing didn't happen like this in real history but at least here in the storyline, if you can take the top enemy general hostage, try to get some information out of him, use him as a bargaining chip, whatever...Maybe not but it feels like a missed opportunity.
So we're halfway through! A few problems here and there but on the whole it's been wonderful so far. Hope it keeps up.
