Wow that thing burned real good. Shoulda just killed him and hidden the body, Youngsil. Oops.
They are really milking this thing for melodrama. I suppose it’s helping the series do better in the ratings but I don’t care for it. Bad, mean bullies, all right already, enough! And that whole first confrontation with Kim Hakju, it was just too forced. Certainly Songhwi would have been able to handle it calmly and diffuse it, since he’s Youngsil’s father. Didn’t like that scene at all.
On the other hand, I enjoyed the scene where we saw the clock diagrams as Songhwi described the Song Dynasty clock. Very interesting. The clock’s name is “Suwoon Uisangdae” and I not only found a Wikipedia page about its inventor:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Su_Song
I also found a video recreation of what his clock looked like:
vimeo.com/43772707
Both are well worth checking out.
One thing in this episode totally confused me. The Ha Yeon they introduced in this episode, am I supposed to assume this is the Ha Ryun from GKS and Jeong Dojeon? Or is it someone different? In GKS Ha Ryun was an elderly man...which was correct because he was born in 1347...and if this episode takes place in 1418, well, Ha Ryun died in 1416. The actor here, obviously not dead and nowhere near elderly.
Oh and as much as I hate to say it, Sejong is supposed to be 21 here. It’s fun to see the actor again but he’s too old for the part of a 21-year-old king by now.
The heck with the fictional princess reciting poetry. We all know what this thing needs right now: Queen Wongyeong!
