Well I missed the first eight minutes of episode 5. Channel 13.2 is right back to their old tricks again of starting shows nowhere near when they say they're starting them, so I missed the first five scenes of the episode. And then I set my VCR timer for the rerun but something went wrong and it didn't pick it up. And unfortunately there isn't an English subbed version on YouTube yet.
So, truth or anybody else, can you tell me basically what happens in the first few scenes?
--the end of the dinner, what does the king tell the councilors (beyond what we already heard in Ep4)?
--afterwards, the eunuch has some sort of problem
--Lee and Ryu have a long conversation
--Jeong and Yun have a conversation
--Consort Kim seems to be giving the king advice
After that, I've got it all on tape. I just need to know if anything significant to the storyline happened in any of those five scenes, and then I'll prepare the summary for the entire episode. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help.

1. They say yes to Seonjo's suggestion from Episode 4. Seonjo says let's drink. 2. Eunuch is happy about Seonjo showing his greatness as a king. Seonjo calls him a Shi Changshi for flattering. Eunuch says "You just look after the people. I will look after you." Seonjo says "I wish they(the guys he just drank with) were at least half as loyal as you." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Attendants (Shi Changshi) 3. Lee isn't happy about the king. Ryu says he wishes king was more independent rather than just following what the adviser says. Lee asks "Are you referring to me?" Ryu says "Of course not. If the king chose a path, we should be guiding him through that path." Lee says "what if he chose the wrong path?" Ryu says "We have to fight." Lee "Are you saying we as king's subjects should be fighting him?" Ryu says "Of course, it won't be a real fight. We are like the shield of the people. Even if we bleed, we shouldn't let the shield go from our hands." Lee "But even that shield is handed to us by the king." Ryu "Yes. But the king gives us that shield to prevent a king from doing the wrong thing." Lee "You're not wrong. But you're too idealistic." Ryu "You know what I'm most worried about? The government has to worry about the people, but the people might have to worry about the government instead. Let's stop fighting each other as government officials and put faith in the king." 4. It's not Jeong and Yun having conversation, but Jeong and Seong. Jeong says "The king changed too much." Seong "We should delay choosing a crown prince." Jeong "No. This is a very important matter and I'll talk with Lee and Ryu about it. 5. Consort "You gave a sword to one side, so you should give a shield to the other side." Seonjo "Shield? What kind of shield should I give to Lee and Ryu?" Consort "You should make Ryu a Minister of Interior(sort of like Human Resources Manager)." Seonjo "He's already a Third State Councilor, are you telling me to give him another position?" Consort "Yes." Seonjo "If he gets that position, then he gets all the power to hire people he wants." Consort "You have to balance out the slanted scale(referring to current Westerner centered gov), right?" |

Thanks so much, truth...nothing that would have killed me to miss but it's a load off my mind to know for sure.
I'm a little behind on things this week; I'll have the summary for 5 posted on Thursday and then 6 by Saturday. As much as I appreciate 13.2 showing the odd-numbered episodes at 10:20 p.m. instead of later, the Sunday-Monday schedule is going to make it difficult to post the summaries promptly. Stupid job I have to go to! But I'll figure something out.
