I just had to re-watched the last episode of I'm Sorry, I love you and it just reminded me how much I loved this even though it was so sad. The scene where his mom cooked for him was priceless-- it is just a shame people could not have been more truthful with each other. As far as "Arang" goes, you are right, Fiona -- it was creepy, I was totally expecting that lady to get a great big grin on her face and show vampire fangs-- and if she did I think I would have dropped the drama completely! I don't quite get the whole "I need a pure girl" bit, but right now at least it is not too "cartoony" which I think her showing fangs would have made it. Yes, I am liking Lee Joon Gi.. As far as JIS goes, yeah he's mine-- but I think I would like to adopt Taeyang of BigBang-- he is so kind, considerate, hardworking-- He did a interview recently in English and half way thru switched back to Korean, and the interviewer said something like, he wanted explain himself so well that he had to use Korean in order to show his true feelings. That guy has got a real soul..... Hopefully will watch another episode of Arang tonight......

I don't quite get the whole "I need a pure girl" bit You know, it's that old "sacrificial virgin" thing. No one wants "tainted" blood... Guess what? I just watched episode one of "I'm Sorry, I Love You" again. Maybe I'm a masochist... I talked my husband into watching with me this time. Because I really want to talk to him about it and I can't if he hasn't seen it. So he agreed to watch with me. This is exactly what happened with "49 Days" - I watched it first, was dying to talk to him about it so we watched together. He really loved it and he hasn't watched another drama since. Well, we started a few together but never stuck with them (usually my fault), but he measures all other K dramas to "49 Days". anyway, he really liked the first episode and said he could do this drama one episode a week no problem. That's fine with me, since it's second time for me. If it were my first time I would've left him in the dust. It took me just three days to watch this drama the first time. With my husband - 16 weeks... Oh my lord!!! But it was lovely to watch it on the big screen. (I usually watch all my dramas on my iPad.) I hope you're enjoying "Arang", Bird. Tell me all your thoughts. I'm very interested, please.

I watched this series back in 2004 so it's been a while. His mother doesn't find out Moo Hyuk is her son. I believe he returned to Australia and that's why he was buried there. Omg, I wish you hadn't told me that. Now I'm gonna have nightmares tonight. Why, why, why didn't he just tell her? She deserved to know. I would've wanted to know, even though the pain would've been unbearable it would've been worth it to just be able to hold my son in my arms. I tell you I was really hating Eun Chae's father for a while, especially when he didn't say anything to Moo Hyuk when he saw him crying in front of the gate and screaming that he's her son too. He told him that his mother didn't abandon him eventually but it took way too long (I know it was to make it all more dramatic but still I don't care!) The mom thought MH died at birth. MH was dying so she would have learned the truth only to lose her son again. I believe they wanted to spare her from having to go through that again. Wait a minute. If he returned to Australia before he died, how'd they get his heart??? Oh, I didn't remember that. Maybe he died in Korea then. Like I said, it's been nearly 10 years since I watched the series. SJS has a history of playing characters that die in K-Dramas and movies. You kinda get used to it after a while and come to expect it. I'm pleasantly surprised when he's still alive at the end of a series.

I agree that she would have suffered tremendously but i still think she should've been told the truth. I would think as a mother she would think nothing of her own pain and suffering if she could bring her son comfort at the end of his life. That would've been the healing power for both of them. I know that I would definitely want to know the truth. And then the other thing that bothers me is - okay, so because everyone wanted to protect her they never told her MH is her son. That means they can't tell her about his twin sister and her son. So this poor woman is gonna go through her life not knowing she has a living daughter and grandson??? When everyone around her knows??? That is an unusually cruel punishment, I think. Regarding SJS's tendency to die in K dramas and movies... First of all, "Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!" *screaming head off* I just purchased Rough Cut, A Company Man, and Always on Amazon. Is he going to die in all of these movies? ? Don't tell me!!!! Guess I'll find out soon enough...

Sorry, this is the quote I thought I had put in above, but it had apparently gone horribly wrong, like Moo Hyuk's life...

I can not believe it took me ALL day to watch episode 6!!! Between running errands this morning, doing laundry, answering the telephone and the neighbor stopping by to borrow tools, I was going nuts!! Don't people understand I just HAD to find out what was going to happen!?!??!? About a third of the way into the episode things started clicking, I started thinking: Maybe the creepy lady was the Magistrate's mother, maybe the magistrate and Arang were brother and sister, maybe Arang was able to come back to life not only to solve her murder but to bring attention to all these pure souls dying?!?!? At one point, when the magistrate was investigating around the grave hole (I don't know what else to call it), he mentioned that there were no ghosts around and it dawned on me that ever since Arang was around he wasn't seeing any ghosts anymore-- I actually had forgotten that he was seeing ghosts in the beginning of the drama! I really really like the actor who plays the great King Jade. He is so cool, calm, just awesome. I like this drama, the story although made up (right?!?!? ) is interesting, the female lead is a strong female, there are multiple characters that interact with each other, there may be sparks between the magistrate and Arang but it's not taking over the plot. At one time I was going to watch this and chose to watch something else, so thanks Fiona because of you I have found another drama to watch..... hopefully time tomorrow for more than one episode.....

The scene where his mom cooked for him was priceless-- it is just a shame people could not have been more truthful with each other. Something else that's so very moving in the mom's cooking meal scene is what Moo Hyuk says to her immediately before and after the meal. Before eating her cooked meal he says, "I'll eat it well" and after eating he says to her, "I ate very well". These are pat phrases that Korean kids are taught to say to their mothers. Of course other people can say them to the person who cooked for them too but it's usually phrases kids say to their moms. She doesn't catch on of course but he was behaving like a child would to his mother... Very sad and touching... Regarding "Arang": you know I just can't figure out that creepy woman. I know that she's the same woman as the magistrate's mother but right now the only thing that makes sense is that her body's possessed by the evil female spirit. I'm not giving anything away - nowhere in the drama do they say that, it's just my thought. Okay, it'll be fun when you reach episode 12 - we can watch together!!!

I wanted my next drama to be So Ji Sub's but not a sad one - I found the perfect one. Started "Thousand Years of Love". It is so good. I love Sung Yu Ri too so that makes it even better. So funny too. Just what I needed to lift me out of my depression caused by "I'm Sorry". SJS is hilarious in it! Has anyone seen it???

In Chul is different from the characters SJS usually plays. I don't know that I would consider it a happy series though. Well.. it's happier than Cain & Abel but not happier than Master's Sun.

I think it's going to be one of my faves too. When I start searching to buy the drama in DVD I know I really love it. I find this drama very happy compared to "I'm Sorry, I Love You". Haven't cried yet and laughed quite a bit There are some hilarious scenes, especially the mob boss and the gang of bumbling thugs and the wife (deprived of sleep) who lives next door to In Chul. As different as they are, I really love In Chul and Ari both. In Chul's personality is so fun, and I find his child-like temper very cute. Ari is wonderful as the brave, stoic hero - what a great actor SJS is - loving him more and more...

So I watched episodes 8 and 9. I have to say I was disappointed in Ep8-- all this falling off the cliff was a bit much. I know all the pieces will in time come together but to me it was a bit slow. I enjoyed Ep 9 much more. I like the way Arang and the Magistrate play off each other, especially Arang-- it's like she knows there is something going on between the two of them (like her heart racing) but can't quite but her finger on it. I love the way she stuck up for the Magistrate when he was called illegitimate! Although the fight scene is Ep 9 was needed for the story-- not sure of all the reasons, yet-- it was surprising to see the Magistrate fighting so well after falling off a cliff! I keep wondering how it will all come together, Will Arang and the Magistrate realize how they feel about each other?, What will happen with Joo Wal?-- I am thinking he must be "possessd" so he doesn't recognize Arang? When all is said and done, will Arang go back to the other world or could she possibly stay human? I keep getting the inkling that Arang and Magistrate are brother and sister.... gotta run to work, more later.....? (Fiona-- Where are you watching Thousand Years of Love?)

I'm watching "Thousand Years of Love" here: www.gooddrama.net/actor/191_so-ji-sub (scroll down for the list). They have a whole bunch of his works that DramaFever does not have, and it's free! Am enjoying "Thousand" so much. I just love SJS's actions and expressions in this drama - he is so funny!!! about "Arang": if Joo Wal is Arang's fiancé (forgot names it's been so long!) he doesn't recognize her because he hadn't really seen her when she was alive, he said that I think. And I really don't think the Magistrate and Arang are going to end up being brother and sister - there's no indication of that anywhere. I really hope not anyway!!! And Birdy, i also loved it when Arang stuck up for the Magistrate. I get really upset when the lead girl doesn't stick up for the lead guy or vice versa. The girl in "Level 7 Civil Servant" was sort of like that. She really got on my nerves after a while and i had to bail on the drama because of her. I understand that until they confess their undying love for each other they can be mean to each other. But when an outside force attacks they should stick by each other.

The reasons I was thinking Arang and the Magistrate would end up related is because they both have mentioned having issues with their parents (mothers?) and that usually means long-lost siblings and since Joo Wal is Arang's fiance then when all is right with the world again, they can belong to each other and that would leave the Magistrate all alone Can you elaborate on what you meant when you said that Joo Wal doesn't recognize her because he hadnt really seen her when she was alive-- if they were engaged wouldn't they have known each other? Or does she look different since she came back alive? Or is it one of those "parent-made" matches and they never knew each other? On to the next episode......

I think Joo Wal mentioned it himself, the marriage was a political arrangement between the two fathers and though he did see her once he admitted he barely got to look at her face. Back in those days it's not unusual for the bride and groom not to have seen each other until their wedding day. And the nanny who took care of her before she died also said she almost never left her room during her life, that her room was her whole world.
Finished "Thousand Years of Love". Ohmgosh, so loved it!!! But I have one gripe - starting around episode 10 the 2nd lead guy had waaay too much screen time. I was getting really annoyed as I found him quite creepy. And i missed seeing So Ji Sub ssi!!! Other than that I really really loved it. I can't find the DVDs to this though. Unless I want to spend $100 at Amazon I can't find anything.
Watched episode 2 of "I'm Sorry, I Love You" with my husband last night. The thing is he keeps making little comments - he calls Yune "mama's boy" and laughs at the clothes he wears. But I could tell he liked Moo Hyuk character, so that's good. I told him if this drama doesn't make him cry nothing ever will. (Nothing moves my husband to tears... unless one of his sports teams loses maybe.). He said what do you mean, I've cried at a movie before. I was like no way, which movie??? He said, "Gorillas in the Mist".
