Always like these kinds of lists..... I had forgotten that I had watched Coffee Prince, thanks for the beautiful reminders (pictures)--Did you ever watch this? Great music in this drama, too.

I did see "Coffee Prince". I didn't love it but liked it enough to finish it. The lead guy did nothing for me and the lead girl was a leeeetle too convincing as a guy (though I loved her in "Goong").
you know, I don't remember the music from this drama at all. Wonder if it's because it was one of the earlier ones I watched? You see, when I first started watching K drama the music meant nothing to me. I literally could not understand anything in a song other than the basic " I love you" or "don't leave me"... But I was amazed to find just a couple of months into watching K drama I could actually understand like half of a song I was hearing right away!!! Now I understand almost all of a song after hearing it a couple of times. It really is amazing.
I'm learning Korean language through K drama!!!

Now.... don't take this the wrong way, but after reading your other posts, if you actually finished Coffee Prince you must have liked it a lot! LOL. I can't say how much I remembered the OST from this drama, but when I went to the H-Mart store there was a store there selling a bunch of Korean (and other?) stuff and after walking around a very small store with a very nice store manager I felt like I needed to buy something. I asked her about music and OST's and after reading a bunch of drama titles (that were in Korean) to me, this was the only one that was familiar that I didn't own, so I bought it, and I do like it a lot. A couple of weeks ago, I took my mom to a doctor appt. and I had my BigBang, G-dragon, Taeyang, Super Junior, Jung Joon Young, Tablo, CD playing in the car and she even asked me what we were listening to because she like the music. I told her that I know what they are saying with the lyrics because I listen to the songs on the computer with English subtitles.

Hee hee, you're so funny! Yes, I've bailed on many a drama. When a 2 hr movie is not good, well, it's only two hrs you're wasting. But when K drama is not good it's like 16 to 20 hrs you're wasting... No, can't do it, especially when there are so many good ones out there. Just for fun here is a list of some of the dramas I had to ditch. I don't mean watching just half an episode and bailing. I mean watching good 3 to 6 episodes and am no long able to tolerate it. Here goes.
Full House - could NOT, I mean could NOT stand that Rain guy!!! Prince's First Love - could not bear to watch the lead girl (whom I adored in "Hong Gil Dong" even though she wouldn't love Jang Geun Suk, damn her!) start falling for this Prince Jerk Level 7 Civil Servant - started out fun but then my dislike for the lead girl kept growing until it beat out my like for the lead guy. Sad. Coffee House - I just didn't like this one. Kept watching for some reason until I finally asked myself "why???" and then bailed. Secret Garden - the relationship between the guy and girl seemed somehow fake to me, never got into it... To the Beautiful You - the lead girl was just so unappealing and the lead guy didn't even look Korean!!! Heartstrings - no, no, no!!!! Go Mi Nam belongs to Hyungnim, not Shin Woo!!!! Never, never, NEVER!!!
I know OST refers to drama music but what do those letters stand for?
i looked up BigBang the other day and... Wow, you are a wild girl, Bird!!! They are out there!!! What kind of American music do you listen to, do you mind me asking?
And also do you mind me asking how well do you speak Korean? I speak like a 6-year-old, just about or so my mom says. You should hear us arguing. Her Korean is better than her English so she immediately switches to Korean when we go into fight mode so we end up doing this bilingual fighting. My husband dies laughing everytime because he doesn't know Korean so he understands only my side.

OST-- means original sound track Now how do I answer your other question?!?!? Thanks to Knov's music thread I discovered BigBang last year. Never did I think I would listen to anything like this. With kids ages 24, 20, 16, I would think I'm not the average BigBang fan, although I have seen videos on YouTube of parents critiquing their music and liking it! I really, really like their music videos the most-- they really tell a story with their songs and that I like. The MV's are not just dancing but acting out the lyrics. One of my favorites is "Haru,Haru" and it tells the story of a girl who breaks up with her boyfriend (a BigBang member) because she is dying, at the end of the song the new boyfriend calls the old boyfriend (another member) and tells him to quickly come to the hospital because she still loves him...it's a sad but beautiful song. I love G-Dragon's MV for "Who You" (very different) and "Crooked" -- nothing cheers me up after a rough day at work than listening to Crooked and thinking I would love to be that age and just be able to run "wild" like that. Taeyang's Ringa Linga is a great song, too. Taeyang has a "older" song called "Break it down" that I like, too. I can honestly say that once I discovered OST's and BigBang that is ALL I listen to. If you read the thread about Korean movies, you will find that I gave myself a Christmas present and saw the BigBang member T.O.P. in his movie "The Commitment"- didn't really enjoy the movie-- too much shooting-- but LOVED seeing T.O.P on the big screen! (it was a really enjoyable day if you read the thread) (can you tell I love talking about BigBang!?! !?!??!??!?!?!??!) I do not speak Korean at all, just know words I have picked up from dramas. (Although I do my best attempt at singing along to the music when I am listening to the music! ) I wish I had the confidence in my pronunciations to say Hello to the people at work in Korean, because I think they all think I am strange for listening to K-Pop so I would really like to drive them crazy! I work with a girl who has relatives living in Thailand and sisters in Korea and every year she spends a month and half traveling there and I keep teasing her that one day I am going to jump on the plane and go with her! (she says "No problem"! but I think I would be missed around here if I left the house for that long (wow, this ended up being a realllly looooong post)

it tells the story of a girl who breaks up with her boyfriend (a BigBang member) because she is dying, at the end of the song the new boyfriend calls the old boyfriend (another member) and tells him to quickly come to the hospital because she still loves him... But why did she break up with her boyfriend? Because she was dying? Then why did she get herself another boyfriend??? I don't like stories in my MV, I just like lots of singing and dancing by my fave guy, like Jang Geun Suk in "Black Engine". You should check it out. It's such a feel-good video. Also his "Just Drag" is really cute too. He is such a good singer and dancer. Such a cutie pie!!! you know what I do at work? I have a clipboard (pink!!!) that I carry around everywhere. Way under all my work papers I have a collage of Jang Geun Suk and So Ji Sub's pix that I made. Whenever work gets a little too harrowing I just lift up my work papers and take a sneak peak at the collage and I get an instant treat to sweet eye-candy!!! A perfect pick-me-up, a lifesaver!!! so you're not Korean or you just don't speak Korean? You don't have to answer that of course. I sometimes get too nosy sometimes, just tell me to mind my own business. I am now on episode 8 of "Arang" and though there are some strange parts I'm still liking the drama. I just think Lee Joon Gi is so adorable - i love the way the dimple on his chin comes and goes depending on the expressions he makes and the way he narrows his already narrow eyes when he's thinking about something... How is it possible to be in adoration of three men at the same time???

You're right! Jang Guen Suk's song was really good- at times when he gave a small/smirky smile he looked like g-dragon to me! The song the beautiful, MV good, too-- more than just standing around and dancing. I didn't care for Just Drag as much--(don't get mad) it sounded/looked like a commercial for a smart phone! When time permits, I will be looking at more of his songs because he does sound good- so thanks for the suggestion. As far as the BigBang MV, she breaks up with the guy because she thinks if he hates her then when she dies, it will be easier on him, but when the end is coming the new guy changed his mind and calls the guy to the hospital to tell him that she really does love him. (this is what I read on YouTube posts) Love the clipboard idea! I use one at work, so I may just steal this idea-- but I will have to be careful I have a habit of dropping the clipboard and all the papers scatter all over, and then I will have to explain all those gorgeous smiles!! Don't worry about asking questions, I love exchanging ideas/comments/information on this board! I am not Korean at all, but have always been interested in the Asian cultural. I did a report on Japan in Elementary school, many, many years ago and to this day think the only reason I got an "A" and not a "A-plus" was that the guy who got the A-plus was Japanese! (think I am jealous!?!?!? It was no fair, he was good-looking AND got a A-plus!) My living room is decorate with Asian trays, a large fan on the wall, vases, even a set of Chinese Foo dogs. My love turned to Korea after discovering k-dramas. I even toyed with the idea of naming my daughter with a Asian sounding name--but didn't have the guts to do it, didn't think my husband would go along with it and didn't think it would be fair to her in the long run....

I didn't care for Just Drag as much--(don't get mad) it sounded/looked like a commercial for a smart phone! Hee hee, I think it sorta is a commercial for a phone... still, I'll take it. He's so cute when he does that "pump it" with his chest. And isn't he adorable when he gives what you call that smirky smile in "Black Engine", glancing into the camera, like he's saying, "you know you can't resist me"... It's true Sukkie oppa, you're irresistible!!! You shoulda named your daughter Asia!!! I knew someone named Asia in college - she was pretty and nice. I think I even knew a China. I definitely knew a girl named Sunshine - we called her Sunny for short. Sadly, she was anything but sunny... Omg, you're so funny about dropping your clipboard. My one deathly fear at work (well, one of many actually) is forgetting my clipboard and leaving it at the nurse station so that the night shift nurses will discover my collages and have a good giggle over them... it is rather teeny bopperish, isn't it???

Is that your clipboard??? That is so neat! I think I am gonna hunt down a few pics of BigBang and put them on the clip board at work. I listen to music sometimes at work and I keep hoping someone will ask me a bunch of questions so I can share Big Bang with others. I don't know, being able to lift my work and see Taeyang's "eye smiles" at me all day may be waaaaayyyyy to distracting for me. Love that you used the term "teeny-bopperish"-- I sure feel that I am to old to be fan girling over these guys, but Asian men have always had a corner of my heart and watching dramas and k-pop haven't helped that at all.

Asian men have always had a corner of my heart That's so funny because I was the opposite - I had zero interest in Asian men... until K drama. I grew up with only seven Korean men as role models - my dad, uncle, three male cousins and two brothers. As much as I loved them all, they did not inspire any romantic feelings, as you can understand. When I went to college I met quite a few Korean/Asian guys but I had no interest in them other than as friends. They felt too much like brothers to me. Now it's like hubba hubba, why is it I never realized how gorgeous Korean men are???!!! Wow!!!! And I also look at my brothers and cousins with different eyes - I understand now what makes them so popular with girls. Korean men have something that many American men lack - something about showing their feminine side and at the same time being very manly - it's powerfully appealing. I have spent all morning watching So Ji Sub stuff on youtube. Watching interviews and variety shows he's been on. He is so so so cute, and funny!!! You should check out his MV "Pick Up Line". I love it!!! Bird, I have to tell you, as much as I hate this, I feel SJS is trying to take Jang Geun Suk's #1 spot in my heart. (This is fantasy world I'm talking about; in reality my husband is #1 of course, you understand.). You're talking to a girl who had the same actor in her #1 spot for... what - almost ten years? Until K drama and JGS came along. I totally expected JGS to be my #1 for the following ten. What is going on??? It's almost like I wanna stop watching K dramas because I'm afraid I'm gonna keep discovering actors that are better than the one before... on duae!!! No more, for heaven's sake!!! I'm a one-man woman!!!! (even in my fantasy world!) - or I used to be... Am on epi 11 in "Arang". Very good. Love it now that LJG is starting to have feelings for the lead girl and is showing jealousy towards the 2nd lead guy. I love it when the guy starts having feelings for the girl but doesn't quite understand what it is... So cute... One of the things I'm really enjoying about this drama is that almost all of it takes place outdoors and the sceneries are just breathtakingly beautiful. Some of the nature shots are truly outstanding.

I watched the SJS Mv tonight-- very good, some of the looks were soo heart melting! Don't worry about the constant changing of # 1 spots of Korean actors/singers. The BigBang web site that I go to always has people constantly switching their #1 members. That includes me -- one day it is GD, then I catch a glare from T.O.P's beautiful eyes, then Taeyang does that wonderful "eye smile" ......they all have their strong points! I have to tell you I am watching Arang, I tried watching ep 1 last week and I am guessing I was too tired to really pay attention, so I didn't think it was much, but this afternoon I had some time to kill, so I decided to check it out and after the first episode I am going to stick with it. I don't know if I will catch up to you, but I will let you know how it goes as I get further along. One of the things that made me take a second look was your comments about it being outside and the views being so beautiful-- I just love the old-style buildings! This is one of the reasons I like watching 2 days,1 night-- because they travel all over Korea to do their challenges and I get to see the country from all over.

Am so happy you checked out SJS's MV and that you liked it! "Heart melting" is a perfect phrase to describe my feeling when I see SJS rapping in that video - love his scratchy voice. Love the way he looks at the dancing girls as if he's not sure whether he approves or not. I gotta tell you I totally fell for his personality in all the interviews I've seen today - he's definitely the strong and silent type. I like all types of personalities (it makes the world so much more interesting, doesn't it?), but I have a special weakness for the strong, silent type and baby, he is IT!!! So manly!!! How fast do you watch dramas? If you like I'll wait for you on "Arang". I just started epi 12 but I'll slow it down if you want. I'd love love love to actually have someone watch with me. My mom and I are never on the same drama for some reason. Right now she's watching "All About Eve". Wasn't that a black and white movie with Betty Davies??? She is dying to watch "My Love from Another Star". (My husband is dancing around the house like a goofball cause his UConn just won the championship I guess this drama's supposed to be very good. Doesn't look all that to me... Anyway, back to "Arang"... honestly, I don't know if I would've stuck to this drama if it wasn't for LJG. I am very actor-driven in my viewing. If I like an actor I'll watch anything he's in. I think I've decided to watch "I'm Sorry, I Love You" next. Get the Kleenex ready!!! (I might have to go back to "Ghost" too)

It was a "late start" day at work today so I watched episode 2 this morning. I could get thru at least one episode a day--quite possibly 2 if I am having a "good" day! It is up to you if you want to wait, since you are already on 12 it might take me a while to catch up. If you want you can post things you remember about past episodes that I have watched and I can post about them as I watch them and we can continue on like that...... I think you will really enjoy "I'm Sorry, I Love you" even if it is sad, I think Ghost might have been the first So Ji Sub drama I watched-- it was a little hard to follow, but good. Maybe I will rewatch "I'm sorry" when you watch it, just to see what I missed the first time!!

LOL - this morning I said to myself let me just take a peak at "I'm Sorry, I Love You" and that was pretty much the end of me for the rest of the day. I'm on episode 6 - I am so addicted to this drama!!! My husband came home, took one look at me and said, "Oh no, let me guess - K drama?" I had Kleenex everywhere and was bawling my eyes out because I was watching the bathroom scene where his sister is in the little bathtub and he asks where those men kissed her and that he would wash it all clean. Oh my gosh, that was such a moving scene. I really really love SJS's character. He is such a tragic figure and yet so sweet and caring to the people he loves. And of course it helps that he's super-cute!!!! And the lead girl is so likable too.
I'm so scared though because I know this canNOT have a happy ending... I am loving the drama but at the same time dreading what will come. But I have to suffer through it - how can I consider myself SJS's fan without having watched most of his works???!!!
I'll wait for you to catch up with "Arang" so you take your time with it. And if you want to watch "IS, ILY" again I'll watch it with you again. I usually watch a drama I really like twice in a row to really understand everything and for everything to sink in. Unless it's too too sad... Even "49 Days" I watched twice. That motorcycle scene - I don't think I ever cried so hard before in my life!!!
i think what I feared has happened - i think SJS has taken the #1 seat in my K drama heart!!! I'm sorry JGS ssi!!! I still <3 u!!!
