I believe ajk is reacting to the news that David Letterman is retiring in 2015.

David Letterman is my neighbor. well actually, he lives about 15 minutes away in this very ritzy, private estate, as you can imagine. I live in a normal neighborhood. But my husband did see him out jogging one time, or at least he was pretty sure it was him...

Don't feel bad, ajk --- your reaction was similar to mine when I read about DramaFever changing the way they did subtitles on April 1st--- before I realized what day it was

I say, knov1, good catch old man! I never would have figured that out from "Oh no!" no matter how it was spelled. LOL.
PS - Apparently I'm British today. An old, British clubman.

Bo is right, that was well remembered since I forgot the clip. Very smart.
Sort of figured that the contract he signed last year would be the final one, so this isn't exactly a surprise. But hearing it for certain...yesterday was a rough day. I go through withdrawal when these longer Korean series end after 100 episodes or so. I've watched 5,800 hours of Letterman, so...yikes. I went to New York to see it once, and on another show a Viewer Mail letter I had sent in was picked and read on the show and used for a comedy bit. (And got lucky because they reran that show a few months later so I got it on tape.)
He certainly has earned the right to retire when he wants to. And frankly the show hasn't been nearly as good lately as it used to be. Especially the last five years or so, the effort just hasn't been the same. And he pretty much admitted that on the show yesterday. So as hard as it is to admit, it's the right time. But it will be a very, very tough adjustment.
If I disappear from here after that, it's because I threw my TV out the window and became a hermit.
