Just a quick note, I am up to ep 9 of The Snow Queen-- I wanted to watch more, but my eyes just won't stay open The father in this is the same actor who plays David Kim in Saving Mrs. Go-- so that was interesting to see. This drama is what makes me love k-drama's so much-- good story, good actors, good OST....

Is "The Snow Queen" with Hyun Bin? I think I had wanted to watch this at one point and then decided against it cuz it looked so sad.

Yes, Hyun Bin is in "The Snow Queen", I think it may end sadly but it is an excellent drama. I would say that this type of drama is what makes me love k-drama's so much. The story line is great, easy to follow, but it has depth, the music is wonderful, the actors are doing a great job-- even the female lead, who even though she is a whiny "brat", she does have her moments of being smart and compassionate-- unlike some of the females in dramas. So far, I would really recommend this even if the end is sad, it is that good! (the male lead is soooo handsome!!!!at least IMHO )

My gosh, it took forever to find this drama at DramaFever. I always forget that "The" is alphabetized so I should've looked under "T" but of course I looked under "S" for snow. In every category. When I couldn't find it (and I knew DF had it), it dawned on me to look under "T." Okay, so I queued it. I don't know when I'll get to it but I will someday. I did NOT know the girl in it is Sung Yu Ri. Now I have to watch it cuz I adore her. Loved her in "Hong Gil Dong" and "A Thousand Years of Love." She is so cute. Yes I definitely agree with you, Birdy, that Hyun Bin is "soooo handsome" as you put it. My 2nd K drama I ever watched was "My Name is Kim Sam Soon" and I loved him in it. Certain scenes of his I watched over and over again cuz... well, just one viewing was not enough.

LOL @ fiona. Don't you HATE that! Alphabetizing in that manner is WRONG wrong WRoNG! But it's probably inevitable...because Internet. You never know, though, which method a particular place will use, so it's annoying at best.
Snow Queen is very good for a number of reasons. That's all I'll say for now.
Oh, no, one more thing--please open up a separate thread if you want to discuss it, rather than here. Because I fully intend to get back to Mrs Go very soon, so I'd like it--and I say this affectionately--if you guys didn't hijack this one. LOL..

Soooo sorry, I'm begining to feel that my head is on a chopping block like in so many historicals! I was really just looking for "Bo's opinion" because you seem to know alot about GOOD dramas. Anyways back to this drama, finished episode 28 last night. Where are you at, Bo? I am liking this sooo much better, it is almost a shame that they had to do the whole "other town" thing to get everyone to Seoul-- I get it was for background, but the story is much more interesting to me now...

Hi Bo- Just wanted to let you know that I finished ep 31 tonight. Wont't say much since I don't know where you are at, but this is going in what seems like a typical drama fashion-- everybody with meet someone and everyone will end up happy than they were in most of the drama-- not necessarily a bad thing, but it getting a bit extreme..... (hope you are doing ok, and not working tooooo hard)

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.16 - So here we are, kind of surprised, what do we do. Blink? Swallow hard? Um, yep. Then we notice one of us isn’t quite dressed and we turn from each other in total embarrassment to stammer out explanations and apologies. Mrs Go runs out and, to her credit, only peeks back one time. DK obviously wonders if he’s too fat, then picks up his drink and goes on his way. Mrs Go and Wonsook discuss David Kim, as to whether he’s a good guy or just scary. Wonsook starts blithering on about what a great guy Mr Seo, her boyfriend, was. Bongshil goes cold in the face and WS realizes her blunder too late. Chilly, chilly, chilly. Mija is worried because she can’t reach Mangeum, and Geumsil continues to puzzle over where she’s met Soo-ae. Uncle Seo, Mandeuk and Mangeum are in the sauna together, and Seo can’t get any sleep because of all the snoring. Mrs Go and pretty-boy Ricki get on like a house afire. She feeds him and he helps her out. The publicity process with Lee Junghyun is coming off like a charm, which is just what the actress is doing to the reporter (charm him). But outside, Yoon faints and Sungmin rushes her to the hospital. The doctor says she had a “rotten cold” (my, so precise), she’s exhausted and her blood pressure is too low. Sungmin calls Kyungsoo, who rushes to the hospital and of course yells at her for being a workaholic. Sungmin goes out to sleep in his car like a loyal dog. Wonsook decides to get Bongshil to go with her to the sauna by using Soo-ae’s situation. “It will cheer her up.” So Bongshil relents and goes with them. Unfortunately, this is the wrong sauna, because that’s where Soo-ae’s dad, Uncle Seo and Mangeum spent the night. A collision course is set, aaaaand…right. The two groups collide. Poor Soo-ae. She gets all relaxed and feels so much better. Has a nice talk with Bongshil about how she got here and how she felt when she first was able to be a girl openly. She doesn’t even see that Bongshil won’t talk to Wonsook, but WS feels the pain. Mrs Go sees a poster of Arnold Schwarzenegger and thinks of David Kim, so I guess she doesn’t think he’s too fat. As the girls leave the club, Wonsook tries to get Bongshil to go to brunch with them, but BS isn’t having any. Mandeuk sloughs off all responsibility for his “mugging” at Versace’s club onto a frustrated Uncle Seo, who almost catches the old man with his brother’s watch. Then Mandeuk walks out of the men’s locker room and oops. He sees the women and everyone holds their breath, but oh no, he recognizes his son and physically attacks him. Soo-ae runs out barefoot into the street screaming bloody murther and the men drag the ranting old man to Wonsook’s home, where he chews them all a new one for not telling him. He feels betrayed by his whole town, and he decides to roost in Soo-ae’s room until the boy shows up. Wonsook has found Soo-ae crying in the street, her feet a mess. WS brought her shoes, and she also calls Inyoung to come and help Soo-ae. Inyoung sends her to Jaesoo’s borrowed apartment, abandons her niece and nephew to Jaesoo’s care and goes to help Soo-ae. Meanwhile, Jaesoo is having idiotic fantasies about his life with Inyoung. Poor fool. At the hospital, Kyungsoo has to watch his normally impassive wife giggle with Sungmin over her work. Then she sends away an understandably jealous KS so she can play with her friend. So Kyungsoo misses the doctor’s visit, who tells Yoon she’s in very bad health and may have liver damage. She needs a full checkup and lots of rest. Of course, she refuses. The doctor mistakes Sungmin for her husband and they don’t correct him. Yoon goes back to her work. When Kyungsoo drags her home, they miss Inyoung coming out of the elevator and Yoon has a fit when she finds a stranger babysitting her kids. Then she remembers they missed the mortgage payment on the Flower Hill, but is flummoxed to learn her mother already paid it. Where the hell did she get the money, wonders Yoon. Meanwhile, Mrs Go asks Dongsik about Mr Kim’s kimchee preferences (he likes “anything”). After she feeds the great man (and bangs her head into his accidentally), they arrange for her to shop for kimchee ingredients and make it later at his apartment. Mandeuk terrorizes Wonsook, forcing her to accept that he’ll stay in Soo-ae’s room until the girl shows up. Uncle Seo explains to her that Beomsoo/Soo-ae was the child of Mandeuk’s old age and about their difficult relationship—Dad’s a hardass, Son’s a delicate flower. While they talk, Mangeum gets a call from Mija, who’s coming to visit him at his job (that he doesn’t have any more). He rushes out to beg his old boss for his job, and Wonsook tries to find him a job at other restaurants. Her description of him is pretty funny--“He can look like anything! Filipino! Whatever you want!” Har. When Mija arrives at Mangeum’s old job, he distracts her to Aunt Geumsil’s house instead, where Mrs Go is explaining who Soo-ae really is to the old lady. (My favorite part? Geumsil: “You’re saying he removed his PENIS? ” rofl…) When Mangeum and Mija arrive, he has to do some fast talk to explain why he’s not at work, but he then gets a call from Uncle Seo to come in for a job interview at the Mexican restaurant. Wonsook manipulates the doubtful restaurant manager to give Mangeum a job. Dongsik spies on the Japanese Yamaguchi gang, who are up to their necks in something, and speaking of necks, they cut Jincheol on the neck as a warning. He’s followed to the Seo antique store by Dongsik. Later, Jincheol goes to Baldy’s restaurant and tells everyone he’s looking for the antique table; Wonsook, scared and uncomfortable, makes an excuse and runs off to her store to obsess over what might happen to her because she threw out something that she never paid for. At Jaesoo’s apartment, Inyoung tries to comfort Soo-ae by saying her dad won’t actually kill her, but Soo-ae is doubtful. When Inyoung goes to pick up Soo-ae’s clothes, she too is terrorized by Mandeuk. Inyoung discusses it with Geumsil, while claiming she knows not where Soo-ae is. Yeah, sure, says GS, just tell him to lie low until it all blows over. Mrs Go walks toward the bus stop with the groceries. David Kim happens by in his convertible and forces a ride on her. As he passes the hotel (over Mrs Go's protests), we see a very irate Heo Kyungmi, a young woman with some sort of ego problem, trying to bully her way past Dongsik with no success. DK wants to take a nice drive with Mrs Go, but her scarf flies away. She’s PO’d, but pretends it’s all right. DK suppresses a grin.

Ep.17 – At the Mexican restaurant, even Geumsil is impressed by Mangeum’s performance as “a Mexican person.” Later, Geumsil and Mija discuss what’s going on with their friends, and then Mija insists on staying overnight.
Dongsik has strongarmed the actress Kyungmi away from David Kim’s door. DK and Mrs Go come in, and Kyungmi is shocked to see DK carrying groceries for the maid! She tries to catch up with them, but Dongsik is too quick and tells her to wait quietly. She’s not having any of that. Inside the elevator, Mrs Go shyly tells DK he looks less scary with his hair windblown and hanging over his forehead a bit.
Kyungmi manages to push her way in to see an unfriendly DK. She tries to grill him about Mrs Go, then goes into the kitchen and tries to bully her instead. Kyungmi really goes nuts and breaks a glass, at which point DK comes in and drags her out for Dongsik to take her home. Kyungmi really doesn’t seem able to absorb anything, from the fact that DK broke up with her to why he’s mad she yelled at the maid. DK returns to his apartment and asks why Bongshil is wrapping up broken glass like an Xmas gift; she explains she doesn’t want the cleaning crew to get hurt. He goes into his room and smiles.
Mrs Go has a problem. There’s a midnight step to the kimchee—adding a cut pear--but she can’t come back there at midnight because of her restaurant. She explains to Dongsik what to do and he agrees to take care of it. Then, Dongsik reports to DK about Jincheol’s various eff-ups, involvement with the Japanese mob and also his connection with Mrs Go’s husband Seo. DK orders him to get more details and also to try to find out when Jincheol might have been seen by DK in Namhae (we remember it was the night Mr Seo was murdered). Late that night, DK sneaks up on an invader in his apartment. It’s Dongsik, rummaging in the dark and waving a knife around. DS can’t remember Mrs G’s instructions (to cut slashes in the whole pear, then put it in). They bumble together, and decide to peel one pear and leave one unpeeled, and they talk about DK’s mom and childhood, and how the place seems more like a home with Mrs Go there. Sweet.
At the sidewalk café, Yoon strolls in and asks for noodle soup. Mrs Go is delighted. Yoon demands to know how she made enough money to make the Flower Hill mortgage payment and finds out about the David Kim gig. She’s mortified. They argue and Yoon accuses Mrs Go of acting like a stepmother. This is a low blow and Mrs Go lets her have it, then says I don’t care if it’s bothering you so much, I’m still going to work and if it gets to be too hard, I’ll let you know. After Yoon leaves, Mrs Go is thrilled to see how much she ate and remembers how they met and how they became truly mother and daughter. Yoon cries alone by the Han, missing her father.
At home, Mrs Go is confronted by Wonsook, who begs for an audience. At first Bongshil is hostile, but Wonsook explains over drinks that her affair with Mr Seo was all a fantasy on her part. He loved only Bongshil and told Wonsook so, and their one “date” was a trick on him. He then felt sorry for her and tried to talk her into thinking better of herself and finding her own man to love her--more like a friend trying to help a desperate person. When he died, she was devastated and also wanted to see the wonderful wife he’d loved so much. Bongshil is still a bit prickly until Wonsook points out how lucky Bongshil is to have had a great family and husband who loved her and still to have two daughters who are so loving, when Wonsook has nothing [but property of course LOL]. They drink.
Next morning, a hungover Wonsook is surprised to find a beautiful hangover soup left for her by Bongshil, who is up on the roof apologizing to her dead husband and swearing to succeed in life. Downstairs, Wonsook and Mandeuk have another altercation when he barges into the bathroom while she’s trying to get ready for work. She’s shocked. Then he goes downstairs to buy large garbage bags from Geumsil and gets some homemade food.
Inyoung has a nightmare about chasing after gatecrasher Ricky as she’s in the middle of marrying Jaesoo. She wakes up and Soo-ae, who is getting sick, asks her to go get some clothes for her.
Mrs Go’s plants are not doing well. S-I-L Kyungsoo arrives with gifts--a winter jacket and some long underwear. She’s thrilled. They talk about Yoon. Kyungsoo is clearly his wife’s apologist. As they leave, the two run into Wonsook, who reminds him that she wants him to model for her store in a magazine shoot, and tells Bongshil about it, all very friendly. They then see that Mandeuk has packed up all of Soo-ae’s girly clothes and stuff for trash. They bring it all back in and Wonsook hides it.
Mrs Go catches up with Mandeuk at the bus stop and advises him not to walk around in the cold. He’s a little hostile to her. Dongsik arrives and makes Mrs Go get into the car instead of taking the bus. Mandeuk recognizes Dongsik from Namhae, when he roughed up the old man for following David Kim. He hides, then runs to Geumsil to get the skinny. She pooh-poohs his concerns.
At the hotel, David Kim receives a gift of a fine pink scarf from an Italian guest. He remembers that he caused Mrs Go to lose her scarf, so he plans to give it to her and leaves it on the desk. However, before he can, Dongsik scarfs the scarf and hands it over to Mrs Go, explaining that he usually gives such gifts to staff. Also, Mrs Go and Dongsik have a conversation about the kimchee and how he and David Kim solved the problem of what to do with the pears.
When David Kim returns, he finds Mrs Go feeding Dongsik by hand in the kitchen, like he’s her child or something. DK sees the scarf around her neck and them giggling like children while he gives them the annoyed Dad stare, and then he sends Dongsik off on an errand he could obviously do any time. He’s mad because of the scarf, and he’s jealous because Bongshil made one of his favorites and he’s not going to get any [because he’s being all grumpy]. So she calls to him that she’s leaving the meal on the table for him to eat later. When she returns a few minutes later to get an umbrella, she finds him stuffing his face at the kitchen counter, humming and doing the little “good food” dance. She claps her hand over her mouth to keep from laughing out loud.*** Cute thing: “How did you know I like flowers?” Bongshil asks Kyungsoo, then they laugh together over how silly that question is.
Just noticed thing: Soo-ae and Inyoung sleep in the same bed! This filmmaker is making a REAL statement here about cross-gender people. Very subtle, I didn’t even notice it the first time I watched Ep.17, and maybe we’ve seen it before too in the show and I didn’t notice.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.18- David Kim has Dongsik bug a meeting room for the Japanese gangsters in the hotel, and naturally is anxious that nobody find out. [Presumably because it’s illegal and would look bad to the hotel’s legitimate guests.] DK and Dongsik see Mrs Go give Jincheol a friendly greeting as he’s on his way to grovel before the head gangsters. He gives the wise guys a less-valuable painting, then a song-and-dance about how customs is holding up the furniture in which the other painting is hidden. Dongsik and DK discuss their strategy in this matter. First, they go to Jincheol’s shop and ask him about historical paintings. Coincidentally, Jincheol has just been grilling his manager about DK. He tells them he doesn’t deal with any paintings at all. As DK and DS leave the store, the Japanese gangsters happen to see them and wonder why DK is interested in Jincheol. Kyungsoo wakes Yoon. He tells her what a good husband he’s been [he’s priceless] and then finds out she’s going to Hong Kong on a business trip with her assistant Sungmin. He spies on her phone and grumbles to himself, but can’t think of a reason to prevent the trip. Mija is scolded by her doctor for playing hookey at the hospital, but the doctor is stunned by Mija’s apparent near-full recovery. One more day she should stay for observation. When Mangeum finds out he has to pay the bill, he starts to panic. Inyoung sneaks into Soo-ae’s room for clothes but can’t find them. She visits Wonsook at the shop, which has been remodeled. Wonsook also has a new hairdo. She invites Inyoung to a party at Baldy’s restaurant. Inyoung agrees to go so she can see Ricky, and the two young lovebirds sing a karaoke together and later when he walks her to her mom’s place, they discuss his dream of being a musical stage star and hers of being a painter. She surprises him in front of Geumsil’s store with a kiss, but before they can react, Geumsil scares them away. In the house, she can’t believe she was so bold. Poor Soo-ae is being terrorized by her father’s angry phone messages. She’s getting sick. When she calls Inyoung, the latter is distinctly unsympathetic. At Yoon’s house, Kyungsoo disposes of an obstinate daughter (who wants to stay up late) in an effort to woo his wife. But Yoon’s business trip has been moved up to 7 a.m. next day and she wants to sleep instead. Little Kyungsoo, disappointed again. Later when he escorts Yoon out to meet Sungmin, he’s disgruntled by their easy repartee. Bongshil and Wonsook discuss the troubles she’s having with the herbs; Bongshil will go to the herbal market area and try to find someone who knows something. She’s made a rice cake, and when Wonsook says she appreciates it more than when she was younger, Bongshil makes fun of Wonsook for trying not to get old. The reason Bongshil made the rice cake is that she found out it’s Dongsik’s birthday. She made him seaweed soup and other birthday foods, but he doesn’t realize why until she mentions why she made the cake. He’s overwhelmed and leaves, and DK tells her that the boy is an orphan and this is probably the first birthday food anyone has ever made for him. It’s the day of Wonsook’s photo shoot and she and Kyungsoo giggle over the clothing choices. Like little girls. They do the shoot outdoors, and then Uncle Seo shows up at the shop where they are having coffee and the rice cake. When Seo asks whose birthday it is, Kyungsoo suddenly remembers they missed Mrs Go’s birthday. Mrs Go gets an urgent call from Wonsook and rushes home, where she’s indeed surprised to find Inyoung, Uncle Seo, Kyungsoo and his kids at her surprise party. Wonsook has fixed up a room for her inside the house. They talk her into moving there so she’s not so cold in the exposed roof room. [It sounds like it may not be heated.] She agrees and is overwhelmed by the loving surprise. Later they eat with Mangeum, and Geumsil comes up to join in the barbeque dinner. But Mandeuk arrives and is insulted by them having a good time while he’s miserable. They try to explain, but then Bongshil just apologizes. He yells at Inyoung and then shuffles away from their party. Bongshil feels bad. Later that night, Inyoung is upset that Ricky has not called. Worse, idiot boy Jaesoo shows up with a chicken, which she orders him to hang on the doorknob. She yells at Soo-ae for being the cause of her being stuck in the apartment. Also, Kyungsoo is upset because he can't reach Yoon and has a terrible, terrible dream of things happening between Yoon and Sungmin. Sexy things. Dongsik reports to DK that Jincheol was lying to the Japanese, none of Seo’s furniture is tied up with customs or the police. Then DK gives him some money and a restaurant gift certificate for his birthday, and tells him Mrs Go left him a note with his birthday food. “Eat it,” he orders. Poor Dongsik reads her kind note, then cries over his birthday soup. At his restaurant, Baldy gives Mrs Go grief over the state of the men’s room, but Ricky says he’ll take care of it for her every day. Jincheol walks in and apologizes for not coming to see her more often, and when Bongshil expresses concern over his brother, he pretends the guy is fine. Just fine. But then a small side table with drawers catches Jincheol’s eye. He goes a little crazy and starts beating on the table, breaking an expensive tchotchke and mauling Baldy. Dongsik happens to walk into the café and witness this small breakdown. Jincheol is pulled up short in his rant by Mrs Go’s shocked, but relatively mild, response. *** Several episodes ago, DK kicked the Japanese gang out for good, I wonder how they justified giving them the meeting room without the gang getting suspicious.
I loved Jaesoo's glum response to being ordered to leave a gift hanging on the doorknob. "Okay. Enjoy your chicken." So very funny.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.19: After his tantrum, realizing Baldy's table is the wrong little table, Jincheol calms down. Mrs Go tells him she’ll take care of everything and sends him on his way. Leaving, he has to get past a disapproving Dongsik, who has come to thank Bongshil for his birthday food. She promises that no matter what happens in their lives, she’ll continue to make the meal for him every year. He’s overwhelmed. He gives her some employee birthday gift certificates he got from David Kim to eat in the hotel restaurant. They agree to talk to each other less formally, more like family. Meanwhile, Jincheol visits Uncle Seo at Versace’s club, where he asks about her fur-covered table. Everyone scoffs that this might be an antique, and Jincheol doesn’t recognize the thing in this state and happily toddles off with Uncle Seo to get a drink. They talk over old times and discuss Jincheol’s brother (JC lies and says the bro is fine, but actually, the poor man is peering into Bongshil’s restaurant window as they speak). Jincheol also asks about Bongshil’s job with DKim, but Seo feels guilty and won’t discuss it. Kyungsoo takes the children out of school so he can guilt his wife into coming to have dinner with them instead of going to the office with pretty boy. He drags her to a birthday dinner with her mom, and the two make it up. Mrs Go mentions her great coupons from her job, and she takes Uncle Seo, Inyoung and Yoon’s family to the place. While there, DKim sees them and has the wine steward present Bongshil with a birthday bottle of a very expensive champagne. Everyone is thrilled, and they are having a pleasant meal with pleasant conversation. Unfortunately, jealous ex-girlfriend Kyungmi, sitting in a distressing meeting with her manager, sees DK buy the wine, confronts the annoyed wine steward and worms out the price. She then sneaks behind Mrs Go when she goes to the rest room. On the way there, Bongshil runs into DKim, and because a badly behaved boy and his mother go running through the area, DK accidentally falls against Mrs Go a couple of times. [Extremely cute scene BTW—boy are their faces red.] Kyungmi sees them “hugging,” but not what caused it, and she is infuriated. When Mrs Go comes out of the restroom, she is physically assaulted by the crazy actress. Yoon and Inyoung go looking for Bongshil and come upon this scene. They dive in, too. Kyungmi is hustled off by her manager, but not before (a) Yoon sees who she is, and (b) Dongsik sees too. [Hard to say which of these will turn out to be worse for Kyungmi.] Dongsik reports to DK, who orders him to bring Kyungmi. Hard to say what she expected, but what she gets is this: If she doesn’t go down on her knees and apologize to Mrs Go, her career will be over. She’ll experience the deepest poverty. She is stunned by this threat. Worse to come for her, though. Yoon also demands that her mother quit the job with DK. She’ll arrange to repay the up-front loan he gave her. Mrs Go finally agrees. Everyone cries a lot, including Wonsook who is not quite sure what is going on, because nobody told the men in the family and Uncle Seo only knows the women are terribly upset. But Wonsook tries to comfort Mrs Go anyway. Bongshil insists on going to work, where she is seen writing in her diary and feeding a foreign man who is out of a job for free, “just until he gets on his feet.” Elsewhere, Kyungsoo demands the skinny from Yoon, but she is not forthcoming and calls assistant Sungmin instead. Yoon tells him to investigate Kyungmi and her career. Oh-oh. Inyoung decides the best course it to get drunk with Jaesoo. She asks him if he can marry her and pay all her mother’s debts. He seems struck by the idea. Inyoung goes home and has a drunken fight with Soo-ae, pretty much abusing her friend like a thuggish boyfriend. Inyoung breaks Soo-ae’s phone in the fight, but Soo-ae leaves in anger and swears never to return. Meanwhile, Jaesoo broaches the subject of obtaining a large sum of money from his mom. Because Mangeum has not been paid, he cannot pay the hospital bill, which must be paid on discharge. Mija can’t stand sleeping there, so they come up with the interesting solution of Mija sleeping at Geumsil’s place and Mangeum sleeping in the hospital bed. Since it’s a women’s hospital, this is a problem, and also it means the bill keeps going up. Geumsil is disgusted, but tells Mija someone is looking to buy her boat, so this might solve their difficulties. Yoon gets on the phone and sabotages Kyungmi’s acting possibilities. She also visits DKim, pays back the money and informs him that Bongshil is better than a maid and won’t be doing that any more [so snobby]. Dongsik and DK discuss this development, with Dongsik providing some insight to the family for his boss. Also, Dongsik reports that he thinks Jincheol has lost the painting, because he’s acting crazy and searching for something. They don’t know whether Mrs Go’s husband (Seo) was in on it yet, so DK says investigate more and also follow Jincheol closely. Mrs Go is not happy with Yoon butting in. She wants to continue to work for DK because he’s been good to her, but Yoon stubbornly insists. She finally plays her trump card: If Bongshil ever goes there again, Yoon will refuse to have anything more to do with her mother. However, Bongshil does go back there to say goodbye, but nobody’s home. She prepares one last meal for DK and comes home to Wonsook, who annoys her about the money they need and then wishes aloud that someone would rent a restaurant for Bongshil so she could make her own money. At Jaesoo’s sister’s apartment next morning, Inyoung is surprised that Soo-ae really left. When Jaesoo shows up and says he has his mother’s permission to marry Inyoung, he is shuffled out with a flea in his ear. Stuck in a traffic jam near Baldy’s restaurant, Dongsik points it out and tells DK about Bongshil’s night restaurant. When DK gets home, he finds the food she prepared for him, along with a nice goodbye note. He decides to walk down to Baldy’s restaurant, alone. He goes in, they greet each other, and then DK says, “Could I please have some noodles?” *** I really enjoyed this episode, it felt like things were really picking up and going. Very nice. Lots of sweet scenes between DK and Bongshil, and lots of Yoon percolating like a stopped volcano. lol...

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.20- David Kim wants Mrs Go to return to work, but she gently refuses because of her kids. He leaves when Mija and Mangeum show up for noodles. (They are thrilled to see him.) Bongshil refuses to take DK's money for the food. Next morning, the unfortunate Wonsook walks in on Mandeuk taking a shower. The old guy acts like a jerk, staring at her nightdress and accusing her of flirting with him. Then Geumsil shows up and starts harassing Wonsook, calling her “old” and trying to beat her for “what she did with Seo.” Bongshil tells Mija to drag the combative old woman downstairs, while Mandeuk giggles in the bedroom over the incident. Bongshil tells Wonsook that she’ll tell them the truth (no affair) but Wonsook is inconsolable. Mrs Go treats her like a crying child, then goes downstairs and tells Geumsil to lay off. She explains that nothing happened between Seo and Wonsook. After they hear the whole story, Geumsil thinks she still was bad for trying to flirt with Seo, but Bongshil has forgiven her and so should Geumsil. Seo is gone now, and they are both “pathetic,” so they should live peacefully together. Mija calls Mangeum and tells him she paid the hospital bill. The poor guy just got paid for working so hard at the Mexican restaurant, he looks a little deflated, but agrees to meet her. Mija visits Wonsook at her store and is charming to her, telling her Geumsil isn’t so bad, just quick-tempered. Versace flounces in, furious with a waiter that quit. As she leaves, she shoves past Mangeum, come with some oranges (if you listen carefully, I think he says they’re from Jeju, so very special indeed) as a thank you for what she did for him. He also is proud to give money to Mija for their new life together, but now that job is at an end. In the district where the herb market is located, Mrs Go wanders around trying to get someone to look at her herbs and help her. They recommend a cantankerous herbalist who habitually leaves to hike the mountains and gather herbs, but she just misses him and leaves a note at his shop. However, he sees her and learns she is looking for him and why, but he is such a curmudgeon he just continues on his course. Later, he witnesses her in a local restaurant giving up her food to feed a poor homeless guy and also paying for the guy’s future soup. At Baldy’s restaurant, Wonsook and Uncle Seo try to talk him into hiring Mangeum. It seems he’s not pretty enough and looks weak--Baldy says he’d hire Mija first. [Uncle’s reaction is adorable.] He suggests they go to Versace, but obviously he can’t work there. They seem to be wearing him down, though. Then Jincheol walks in to charm Baldy with an expensive ornament, in apology for messing his place up, and Wonsook, extremely uncomfortable, leaves in a hurry. She seeks out Uncle Seo and explains the whole sorry story about the table, while we see the unfortunate item drooping with fake fur in the distance. They decide to ask Beomsoo/Soo-ae about the table but can’t reach her. Jincheol gets dragged to a roof by the Japanese gangsters, who threaten to ruin his daughter if he doesn’t come through. Soo-ae is boarding a train for Nam Hae (their hometown area). Meanwhile, Inyoung visits Ricky at Baldy’s place and demands to know why he didn’t call after their kiss (her first, she admits). He just teases her and goes back into work. Mija and Mangeum discuss learning to cook and opening their own restaurant, but are belittled by Geumsil. Mija tells her to cut it out, and also, to stop picking on Wonsook. Mija admires her and thinks they should invite her over for breakfast because they feel sorry for her, she’s a bad housekeeper and “eats bread for breakfast.” Geumsil is not happy about this, but doesn’t refuse. Dongsik comes to visit Bongshil. She’s very happy, as he has apparently decided to call her “aunt” and they discuss his food preferences and also David Kim. While they chat, Jincheol’s pitiful brother Byung-geun again peers into the window. This time they see him and run outside, but he runs off before they can stop him. Mrs Go thinks he escaped from the hospital, so she calls Jincheol, who insists she must have been mistaken. He’s angry. At home, Wonsook is foraging for leftovers, but there aren’t any. Mija shows up and invites her downstairs for breakfast with them and Mandeuk. She isn’t going to sit down, but Geumsil invites her, then announces that breakfast is $5. Mija is annoyed, but Wonsook agrees she should pay her way. She proposes that instead of paying $5, they can eat in her home and use her kitchen and table, and since she’ll be paying for utilities, etc., and would do some grocery shopping with Geumsil, that should make it even. Mija accepts on her aunt’s behalf, and Mandeuk and Mangeum heartily agree. Wonsook is very aware she’s scored a point, but Geumsil gives in fairly gracefully and they all happily eat together. Inyoung is at school, complaining to a friend about her “miserable life” with her sister, when Mandeuk arrives and tries to force his way in. She attempts an escape after class, but he catches her. He demands her to find Soo-ae, which of course she can’t do. So she texts Jaesoo to pick her up in his sportscar, leaving behind the old man but tossing herself into another snarl she’s not even aware of—a lunch with Jaesoo’s mom, who seems unusually solicitous to the girl about her health. She presses a mink coat on her, which Inyoung eventually accepts and considers selling to help her mom. Kyungsoo has his script ready to send for the contest, and sends it on its way with a prayer to the universe for help winning. Kyungmi’s manager is having a hard time calming her down when she learns she’s been frozen out of a job she had in the bag. When all her jobs start falling through, she decides it’s David Kim. Who is, coincidentally, looking for Bongshil in the streets of herb town. He sees her picking up garbage in front of that herbalist’s place. While Kyungmi kicks her heels at Wonsook’s house and a wondering Mija and Geumsil try unsuccessfully to reach Mrs Go, DK takes the lady out for tea and reaches into his pocket for an envelope. “What’s this?” she asks. “It’s the lease to a restaurant space in Lee Tae Won.” Then he smiles. *** I always feels kind of stupid because I mix up Mandeuk and Mangeum, but then I saw that the translator of this episode kept writing “Mandeuk” when Mija and Geumsil were saying Mangeum, but in the same conversation they were talking about Mandeuk. Later on, he/she calls Dongsik “Dong-shil” (like Bongshil). Then I felt better. LOL
