I guess my love of Kpop made me jump to the conclusion that I would know who was singing--or maybe the thought that BigBang could actually be singing in a drama , guess I will have to keep on "studying" ) Big Bang songs have been used in dramas but not in any OST's that I'm aware of. If you guys can post a link or tell me where to go to find this mystery song, I'll run it through my thing and see if it comes up with the answer. So you don't have to watch the entire episode, below is a cut of In Young scenes from ep 6. Forward to about 3:15 and that's when the guy starts singing the song. In Young scenes from ep 6In Young is played by Luna, lead singer of the girl group f(x).

It is in episode 6 at around 39 mins, the male charactor is visiting the girl he likes and then he goes outside of her apartment and sings to her along with his car radio. I actually was able to load the app onto my laptop because I have Windows 8 -- but I guess playing it and using the app at the same time doesn't work! If you could figure this out that would be so great-- the song sounds so familar that it is driving me crazy-- I was thinking of bringing the laptop near the desktop computer after my son goes to bed and see if that worked-- but there is so much other "noise" in the scene I am not sure it will.

Thank-you, ajk-- wish I could say that I now remember the song, but alas I don't It is a really good song and the lyrics work pefectly for this scene in the drama. There is one part when a few notes sound similar to a song by the group Queen, so maybe that is what sounded so familar to me. When I googled the singer, I found out that he was in the drama "The Infamous Chil Sisters". He's also dating Yoona from Girl's Generation-- amazing how all this ties together with other things/people we know from dramas.... thanks again for all the help.....back to watching the drama

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADIn Episode 6, things start to cook. Mangeum, after explaining the herb’s benefits to Bongshil, says he didn’t tell her because it might be illegal to sell it. After giving some to the rice store guy, he says it’s all gone. But this is not strictly true. Mangeum saved some plants and has tried to grow them in a bamboo glade behind the priest’s house , but they are dying. Desperate, because Mija is pressuring him for more of what's good for them, he takes Bongshil there and they dig them up and bring them back to the greenhouse, where the plants start to recover. She concludes they need plenty of light, so they buy enough strong lights to make it look like an alien landed in the greenhouse, causing a power brownout in the neighborhood, but both Mangeum and Bongshil are thrilled. The plants make a full recovery. Elsewhere, we learn that David Kim’s secret project is a big, environmentally questionable power plant. His co-conspirators think “the people” may object, but DK has everything covered. He obviously thinks “people” are cows who’ll follow whatever misdirecting puppy he sends by them, and he’s probably right. Uncle Juntae helps a recalcitrant Inyoung to move into her sister’s home. He also meets her rich-boy follower, is very impressed with him and explains Inyoung’s family situation to the boy. He’s not put off, not one bit, he wants to help her, but Inyoung is not happy about it. She moves in with Yoonyoung’s family, and relations are predictably thorny. Before this, however, Yoon and hubbie Kyungsoo have a rapprochement when he returns home and is able to scare off some loansharks who break into their home and try to intimidate the family. She’s impressed. They are thrilled when (secret) dad-murderer Jincheol purchases the furniture store from them. The latter is gobsmacked when he realizes his hiding place for the national treasure painting has disappeared, however (although the other painting of the pair is safe behind a western-style painting on the wall). As he rushes off to a meeting with his sniveling brother, Soo-ae brings the missing drawer table right by the store on her way to give it to her friends at the transgender club, where it is transformed into an unrecognizable homage to Donatella Versace in leopardskin print and furs. Uncle Juntae may be a bit of a gigolo, we learn. He visits an old people’s home to try to boost some funds from some old dearies he knows, but the only one he can get ahold of is one who has succumbed to Alzheimer’s—“two weeks ago.” Ahem. **** FINALLY. LOL. I was watching episode 7 and thought I'd better post this before they run together. I think that's all that happened, let me know if I should add something. I'm not sure if the last paragraph happened in Episode 5 (about Uncle Juntae's LAYY-DEEES) however, it may be running together already. EDIT: No, looks like I've got it in the right episode.
Is it just me, or do these shows have an unrealistic view of what is involved in Alzheimer's--it is not a cliff-edge event. You don't "not" have it and then suddenly "have" it. I found the portrayal in Cyrano much more realistic, even though it was rather overwrought. (But it seemed to me the grandma character was overwrought and larger than life, anyway, so her reactions read as reasonable. To Bo.)

I just figured out why this name sounded so familiar--it's that guy from 9-tail Fox and Brilliant Legacy! He plays "annoying self-centered person" very, very well. Nice "boy band voice" too...lol...

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEpisode 7 - I was wondering why there's no discussion on Ep6 and then I remembered--we did that already! In this episode, shopkeeper Geumsil breaks into the greenhouse, helps herself to a large pile of greens, and eats them with her morning meal. (Apparently this neighborly borrowing is not unusual.) She finds her appetite improved, her skin is softer, she can work harder and faster, etc. Mangeum sees her with the herbs but for some reason decides not to inform Bongshil. Later, Mrs Go and Mangeum receive a visit from the wimpy guy she originally gave herbs to. He brings her money and expensive presents, because his marriage is saved and his (somewhat older) wife is pregnant. Mija, however, up and decides that Mrs Go is a drug dealer, and apparently the police are quite intrusive looking for people growing anything that might be a drug. Frightened, she orders Mangeum to stay away, then she proceeds to snub Bongshil at every turn. However, Mrs Go has realized Mija is pregnant (as Mija herself learns from her doctor), so she goes to her and apologizes for everything. The two make up. We learn Mangeum could be deported, but only Mrs Go ever gave him a chance in this bo-hick town. Presumably, he's from The North. Because they can't cast Oh Eunmi (who cut and run) in their drama, Yoonyoung decides they should do some stunt casting and try to get Lee Junghyun, who retired several years before to get married and raise a family. The production team stalk every place she might be--clubs, restaurants, nail shop, kid's classes. Meanwhile, hubbie Kyungsoo basically abandons their daughter Hanna at a commercial indoor "playground," and she goes home with a friend. The frantic couple go to pick her up and Mom figures out the boy's mother is--you guessed it--Lee Junghyun. Immediately Yoon puts on her secret plotting face and begins to use Hanna as a cat's paw. Jincheol bullies his employee about where the missing table is. He learns all the local businessowners have furniture from this place, so he joins the business counsel and proceeds to charm them all. Except Wonsook, Seo's mistress, who seems to feel slimed in his presence. In an attempt to get the ghost of Seo off his back, Mandeuk lends tuition money to Bongshil, who is overwhelmed and grateful. Inyoung has a run-in with a delivery guy. She pisses him off, he sets her up to spill the whole delivery and she ends up with a broken phone. She can't get it replaced, and Jaesoo (her goofy boyfriend) offers her a new one. She apparently has enough sense to turn down this offer. Uncle Juntae attempts to get a singing date at a club, but nobody wants him. At David Kim's hotel, we learn he's adamantly against drugs (maybe to keep the police away?). We also learn that the only people who take drugs in Korea are American servicemembers. Imagine. I wouldn't think the drugdealers could make a good living off of such a small pool of customers, but there you have it. Because they can't figure out who to ask about the herbs she's growing, and because she gets a final notice from the bank, Bongshil decides to rip the plants all up from the roots and take them into Seoul, after getting a new sharp, modern haircut. When she arrives, however, she has a sixth sense. Sure enough. Everywhere she looks, she sees black people. Oh, okay, other assorted foreigners as well. She sinks to her heels in the approved Korean style and hugs her bags to herself. Nothing to see here. Nothing valuable in these suitcases. Don't mind me blocking the stairwell. ***
I loved old Mandeuk out there in the street every day, bullying everyone in the village with his citizen policing. What a hoot.

Been holding off posting on this because it just wasn't as exciting as some of the other episodes, to me at least. The whole scene of Bongshil in Seoul was strange-- I realize she was a "country woman"-- but really she had no idea what to expect in Seoul?? And all the foreigners?? Yeah, that really made me want to jump on plane and visit Korea! Seeing InYoung working at the store and the run-in with the delivery guy was funny-- love how the phone ends up in the puddle of milk! Her life must be over now if she doesn't have a phone!!!! Waiting to see how her and the delivery guy keep reacting to each other will be interesting, especially with the rich guy having eyes on InYoung! When Hana is left at the indoor playground place I couldn't believe it! It would one thing if he stepped out side to take a call or something, but to up and leave was crazy-- but it will be interesting to see how that all works out for YoonYoung. I really like the actress who plays Hana and her friend is good, too. I can't remember where I saw it so I won't say much, but I love what happens(ed) to the piece of furniture that Jincheol is looking for!

The furniture appears in this episode (7), Bird, at the karaoke bar (presumably the transgender club) where Wonsook is drinking away her troubles while her two friends sing and tango--I just didn't mention it because we already saw what she did to it in the previous episode (6). YES, what the hay with Bongshil in Seoul. She's NEVER visited her children there? Really? I had fun writing about it though. Your reaction to Hana's predicament also was mine exactly--Srsly, Dad, you're going out drinking? I so enjoyed Inyoung's new fella, too. It was really cute, and in fact I think I used your exact words to Bob when he asked me what I was laughing so hard about--"She broke her phone and now her life is over! Hah, hahh, haaaaaa!" Bob was only mildly amused. I was going to start watching Ep.8 this morning, but the "preview photo" was Bongshil looking scared and confused, and I just couldn't bear it. I'll watch it later this week.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEpisode 8. Mrs Go finally uncurls from the sidewalk and tries to find a place to stay. Some jerk sends her to a love hotel, where she pays for "the big room" and then is kicked out by the callous desk clerk after a couple of hours of trying to sleep while the people in the next room noisily go at it. She is seen leaving the hotel by a certain street trollop named Red Nails, or something like that, who immediately assumes Mrs Go is trying to move in on her territory so she viciously attacks the poor woman. When the police arrive, Wonsook happens to see them drag the two combatants away, so she goes to the police station where Red Nails is walking all over Bongshil. Wonsook claims Bongshil is her cousin and bullies everyone into letting Bongshil go. She brings her to her home, gives her a bed for the night and offers for her to stay there, but Bongshil mutters "no, no, no," like some sort of shy nutcase and shuffles down the street. Mrs Go is seen by Soo-ae, who knows her and is shocked to hear that Mr Seo (Mrs Go's late husband) is the "dead lover" Wonsook has been crying over. When Soo-ae sees Mrs Go selling herbs in the street, she steers Inyoung away, and later, Soo-ae purchases some noodles at a street vendor and sends them over to Bongshil. The latter, when she returns the dishes, is totally floored by how good a business noodle selling is and walks back to her post muttering over the possible profits. Earlier, though, Mrs Go is seen by David Kim being kicked off the curb by his henchmen, but since "people are watching," he urges the guys to go easy on her. Later, Kim, eating a pretty bloody steak, tells his driver how much he liked the noodles (made by Bongshil) that they bought by the side of the road. Touchingly, that guy goes over to Geumsil's place and begs her to make some for him to take back as a surprise. This takes awhile, because Geumsil doesn't usually make such fancy fare, and David Kim goes out with another driver. Presumably, this guy isn't as good, because he almost runs over Mrs Go, tiredly wandering the streets after a day of mostly unsuccessful selling. This is the end of the episode, but other less-interesting stuff happens too:Mija is practically mauled on the street by her blind date (Mangeum pulled her out of the restaurant, remember), and that guy crushes Mangeum who has run to Mija's rescue. She shrieks at the bully and leaves Mangeum bleeding in the street. Mangeum, who is upset by Mrs Go's mysterious disappearance, goes back to the greenhouse to see if she left even one plant, but can't find one. On both visits, he misses the card she left for him in a plant by the door. Yoonyoung goes forward on her diabolical plot to get the actress (forgot name) to her clutches. She takes her daughter to a play date with the actress's son and buys the boy his favorite juice, and she is thrilled when the girl suggests the boy come over to play. She tells them they'll have a pajama party and gives her number to the boy so he can ask his mom. Uncle Joontae is having a tough time getting singing gigs. He also gets taken advantage of by a club owner, who makes him work an entire set as an "audition" and then won't even pony up the cab fare Joontae paid to get his gear over to the club. FINALLY, Inyoung refuses another phone from her silly boyfriend, and also confronts the milk deliveryman about her phone, but he blows her off, actually physically attacking her. Not much if it was your friend, but from a stranger--way out of line. **** As I said earlier, I started to watch it, thinking to myself, "Well, isn't this just slow and not that interesting, Inyoung's a spoiled brat, who didn't know..." Even after the fight with what's her name--Five Lips? (lol) --I was like, "Maaaaan, another Korean woman (Bongshil) not getting fair treatment because she doesn't know how to talk to people. HATE IT." But then Wonsook showed up and THAT was HIL. LAR. REE. US. She was on fire! What a gal. I loved how she would alternate ladylike simpering with insane screeching. Very effective. First time I actually liked her.
