Actually The Legend First King 4 Gods ect once you get past the Gods in the First episode it is pretty decent ,it does cover Gwanggaeto's conquests ,its actually better than the KBS drama , though it gets mystic again at the end .As far as being a historical drama it has about as much history as half the dramas on the list.
Bichunmoo or Dances was financed by China and a large portion of the cast are Chinese ,many consider it a Chinese drama .
At a guess i would place Moon in the 15th Century be the use of Shamans and that the court had not made the full swing to Confucian teachings at this time .

Sorry to be slow getting back to this one. Thanks for the help, guys...here's what I've done to revise the list:
--put Moon Embracing as a 1400s series --deleted Bicheonmu (I ran across a similar situation with another one and I had excluded it) --reclassified the remaining fantasy dramas as "date uncertain" and put them in the main list, at the end, pending an approximate date range --added "fusion" to Jang Ok Jung
I also added the recently completed Fugitive of Joseon and the ongoing Sword and Flower. If there are any other current or very recent series I've missed, please mention them and I'll add them.
After we're done with Shin Don I'll take another shot at the blanks I wasn't able to fill in. Maybe some new information will be online someplace by then.

Jeong Dojeon is KBS, not MBC.
Ballad of Seodong is about King Mu, not his illegitimate son.
You also forgot to mention The Great Seer(2012) which was about a fictional guru named Ji Sang guiding Yi Songgye's foundation of Joseon dynasty.

This is a small piece of info I come across in English Wiki. The drama "Queen Seonduk" (순덕이)made in 1968, directed by PD Choe In-hyeon and staring veteran actor Lee Seon-jae (High Kick), yet his role was unknown. I'm not sure about the accuracy nor I know where does the writer get this information from. Despite using these information, it's still impossible to dig out more.I think the title says it all, I guess this drama might focus on key events during 16 yers reign of QSD and several years before that.

Very cool Hung a 1968 drama ,bet it was a lot better than the recent one ,at least the storyline ,we know the production would be minimal . I know in the 60's there were dramas on Yi Soon Shin , Prince Hodong ,Jang Nok Su , Jang Hee Bin (nee Hyobin ), Sado Seja and the grain box ,Sejong but do not know the names or air dates .

Thanks for thinking of the timeline, Hung; I really appreciate it. Hopefully as time passes, some of the bits and pieces still missing will turn up on the Internet one place or another. After Shin Don is finished I'm going to look again for missing stuff.
If you're learning Korean then you may find Korean sources that I can't read. Will certainly be grateful for anything you come across there.

@ MTR: I suppose there were many dramas depicting almost every key historical figures in Korean history during the 60s to 90s, though there was not too much dramas like nowadays , that time was described as the "rising sun" or golden period of Korean pure historical drama. A few brief info I've got from Naver, I hope it will help compiling and updating the timeline Samgukgi 삼국기(Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms) is a period (chronicles of history) drama produced and broadcasted by KBS from Apr 12, 92 to Apr 17, 93. This drama wrapped up the events throughout 40 years, exactly during 629 to 669 involving 5 states Silla, Baekje, Goguryeo, Tang China and Japan(Wae) . It consisted of 50 episodes and along with (some) other dramas, it had to face the difficulties of huge production cost. It was directed by Choi Sang-sik, An Young-dong; scripted by Yu Hyeon-jong, Lee Sang jun; and starring: Seo In-seok(King Geunchogo) as Kim Yushin, Yu Dong-geun (Tears of the Dragon) as Gyebaek, Kil Yong-woo(Sparkling;Cruel city) as Baekje king Uija, Jo Kyung-hwan (First Love, Huh-joon, Dae Jang-geum) as Yeon Gaesomun... In a few videos leaked online, I think I might have seen some faces listed above. Full Casting List (Korean Wiki)

Thanks, Hung! Much appreciated. Completely wrapped that one up and it's plugged into the timeline with the proper information. Always nice to de-orange an incomplete one.
It sounds like it might have been a good series, if they spent a lot of money on it and it covered so much material. I hope someday it turns up somewhere so we can see it.

Princess Ja Myung from SBS Ja Myung Go is not a fictional character even though most of the drama is fictional.
You forgot to include 2011 version of The Tree With Deep Roots.
Han Myung Hoe never served Danjong. He served Sejo, Yejong, and Seongjong(7th to 9th kings).
Jeong Dejeon should be spelt Jeong Dojeon. Heaven Breaking Emperor got called off until further notice as well as King's Face and Dae Jang Geum 2.
Queen Insoo is basically the 2011 Remake of King and Queen. Has a same writer, same story line, same dialogue, and even has Chae Shira playing the same character she played in King and Queen.
Chilwu the mighty is a fictional character. Baek Dong Soo is a fictional drama based on a historical person.
The main character of SBS The Secret Door will be Crown Prince Sado, not King Jeongjo.
Jejuwon should be spelt Jejungwon and it is about fictional students studying under the first American doctors in Joseon during the reign of 26th king Gojong.
Dazzling Dawn was about reformists during King Gojong's reign.
Faith was about a plastic surgeon from 2012 time slipping to 1st year of King Gongmin era and falling in love with young Choi Young.
Time slip Dr. Jin was about a doctor from 2012 time slipping to final year of King Cheoljong era and helping out Prince Daewon.
Queen Inhyeon's Man was about a fictional servant of Queen Inhyeon time traveling to 2012 and falling in love with an actress who plays Queen Inhyeon in a sageuk.
Rooftop Prince was about a fictional Crown Prince based on King Kyungjong time slipping to 2012 with his buddies and falling in love with a woman living at a rooftop.

....Baek Dong Soo is a fictional character. .... Tchah, so much time-slipping in Korea. LOL. Truth, although he was fictionalized in a manhwa, I thought Baek Dong-su was a real historical swordsman? Isn't he the guy in Yi San, who was fictionalized there to be younger? Am I missing something here? I know we can't trust the Wikipedia on such matters, but they do have a whole family line for the man/character.

Careful, Bo...he can crush us like bugs! The guy knows everything.
Thanks for going through the timeline, truth...I'll add your new info as soon as I get the chance. After JD and Shin Don end, I'll do another round of research and see if I can fill in any more of the missing info.
The time-travel dramas, I wasn't going to post anything about them, but since you were nice enough to offer it I will. Haven't watched one so I'm not sure whether or not they deserve equal treatment with the others.

You mean I got something correct? I'm going to write down this day in my diary. LOL! Okay, truth, I don't get to catch you out very often, do I. I've never heard of Baek Dong Su before to be honest. Careful, Bo...he can crush us like bugs! The guy knows everything. Like I said many times before, I am not a history professor so I also have to rely on information I read on the Korean Internet. I'm usually not familiar with people who aren't well known like Su Baek Hyang and Baek Dong Su. I just assumed Baek Dong Su was a fictional character without even googling about him after looking at the fantasy looking pictures from the drama.
