The historical film "The Face Reader," which is about King Sejo's coup, began showing in the US on the 4th. Just watched this today. Great movie. Loved the depiction of King Sejo, or Prince Su Yang in this movie. It was the best King Sejo in history of sageuks for me.

There are some errors in the movie but it's worth watching. I can only think of Lee Jung Jae when it comes to Prince Su Yang now. Some examples of errors(no story spoiler). 1. They look at a portrait of King Taejo(Lee Sung Gye) and call him King Taejong(Lee Bang Won). 2. The way Prince Su Yang's coup was done is different from history

I'm sorry I don't have time to search this thread right now to see whether this movie has been mentioned, but here's some news:
2012's Masquerade (a/k/a Gwang-hae: The Man Who Became King) has been released for Bluray. It is a Best Buy exclusive until February 2014, at which time you can get it at Amazon. (Amazon is always my preferred method, unless they keep effing up the way they have been lately, then I guess I'll rethink.) At the bottom of this review:
Bluray Reviews
you will find a link to the Amazon website, where you can preorder for $9.99. This means you get a price guaranty, and if it goes down, you get it for less, but if it goes up, you get it for the $9.99 price. I've ordered it.
FYI.

I just saw "Fatal Encounter" the movie about the assassination attempt (one of many) on King Jeongjo. It was pretty good, although long. I'm sure a lot of it was fictionalized, but still entertaining.

Hey, mugwump! Good to hear from you again. You getting any Korean TV in Philadelphia these days? Not a thing. I think the last new programming we got was Iron Empress. Then they reran a bunch of older historicals (which was kind of nice). Now we got nuttin. I've been patiently waiting to see if there would be online subs for Jeong DoJeon, but again, nuttin. So I am consoling myself by working my way through 7 years' worth of 2 Days 1 Night.

Well if it keeps you off the streets and out of trouble then I'm all for it!
Seriously like you I'm very surprised that no one has managed to put up a subbed version of JD. Do watch it when you finally get the chance to. It's excellent.

Arrrrrgh!!!! You Chicagoans are so lucky! I can't get ahold of subbed Jeong Dojeon either! And from the little bits of the summary I skimmed over, I seem to be missing out.
