Probably because Deokman wasn't a twin, so people just took it the whole way. And then, maybe around the time in the series that Mishil turned 80 and still looks in her 30s, people tended to give up on any hope of this thing being grounded in reality. Until I read truth's post I had sort of assumed she was made up too. News to me.

Yeh. That's how I was interpreting the conversation. So, does this mean Chunchu really was Cheongmyeong's son?

Aye. The real Chunchu was also Cheonmyeong's son.

What the heck made people think she was fictional? When I referred to her as fictional, I was refetrring to her being DEOKMAN'S TWIN. Somewhere in the beginning of this series someone posted that Doekman WAS NOT A TWIN and Doekman WAS NEVER ABANDONED. If she was the King's oldest daughter, why wouldn't she be in line to succeed to thwe throne, I mean besides the fact that she is a female? Not sure I understand how she was eliminated in the future episodes of this eries; she was not twin but from what all of you are saying, she was definitely an elder sister of doekman. That's what happens when ou play fast and loose with historical facts. everyone get so confused. In this case, My reference was to having twin princesses running around - how would you pick one to be queen? what would make her that special and not the othr twin?. Obviously for the sake of this storyline, she was eliminatecd. Sorry for all the c :-[onfusion - blame the writers LOL

No worries, soapy--you didn't confuse anybody more than we already are. I think the reason they had to move Cheonmyeong aside is that she was the older one and would have gotten the nod. Remember, she even asked Deokman to call her "unni" (older sister) once before she was killed, so the older/younger stuff even matters here with twins, I guess. And it would have been the deciding factor.
I don't know if you watched the Sejong series, but same situation--an older prince had to be moved out of the way for a younger prince. They didn't kill him, though.

AH yeah, the two older princes felt the youngest brother would be a better king so they left the palace to make room for him. Historically speaking. Saw a little bit of the Sejong TV series, but it seemed to me the circumstances were kind of different, the eldest brother having some cliche successor competition with Sejong or something like that?
@soapy Even if there are twins, there is always an older sibling, depending on which one popped out first.

LOL @sageuk. Popped out first. LOL.
Now, I'm so relieved, because I thought they completely pulled Cheonmyeong out of fine air and that was going a little far, plus I couldn't figure out why they gave a real child (Chunchu) to a fictional character. Things feel better now. And I'm sorry for misinterpreting you, Soapy.
