Glad it won't be a scorcher this year. We'll be there on Sat in the afternoon. We'll be browsing around and hanging by one of the the beer tents. Say HI if you see me first!! I am thinking about wearing my K-dest T-shirt from I think 2 years ago. Not sure yet. Good idea! sigh. Wonder where I put mine. Or the Dae Jang Geum shirt. Gotta get organized one of these days.

Having your company in my (what, procrastination?) is a comfort to me, but not likely to make DH feel any better about it. Good thing he's a saver, too. ;D (I'm just worse.....)

Joanie and I are planning on going sometime tomorrow afternoon. We'll be easy to recognize - I'll be wearing an Emperor Wang Guhn shirt and we'll have our cairn terrier Graham (who looks a lot like Chiquita for those of you who remember her) with us. Hope to see some of you there - say hi if you see us!

That was fun - what a gorgeous afternoon! It was really nice to see everyone again and it was cute that Joanie and ginnycat were wearing the same Yi Soon Shin shirt. JP, you have the cutest, sweetest family - it was great to see Mia doing so well and meet her little sister,Faith, who's just adorable! Sorry we missed you chigirl and soapygrams, though I'm sure you also enjoyed the afternoon!

I hope Teddy and Graham can become good friends. Seeing your son made us realize how long it's been since we've seen you - I'm glad he seemed to really enjoy the fest! He definitely knew how to use chopsticks better than any of us !

I looked for you but since I do not know what a cairn terrier looks like and my vision problems, I didn't recognize anyone. silly me, I did think I would recognize brib and Ginny . I am glad to read that you all did get together. My two daughters and my son-in-law were with me. My SIL really enjoyed the food and the singing contest -- we stayed until around 845 pm. Vicki has to work on Sundays, so we came home. I thin it was a very nice Festival. we sat in one of the tents to eat and have a drink, mine was watermelon bubble tea - yum. I couldn't find any pancakes though. We did get some bibibap, spicy rice cakes, and we had about 5 different types of entres - my daughters filled the table with all sorts of different foods. Needless to say, the kimchi was very good and mixed with the "purple" rice, it was delicious. ;D I wish I could go back tonight to see the finalists of the singing contest - we heard up to Contestant No. 12 I think. A few of them were very, very good. One of the male contestants had a really nice voice but he didn't use the microphone close enough; the background music sort of drowned out his voice. I don't know why they always blast the background music so loudly; it isn't necessary and detracts from the singers. All in all, I enjoyed myself and am glad we got to go and have some good food and watch wrestling, break dancing and singing contest. I did wish the traditional drummers had been there, as in years before, but still glad I went; sorry to have missed you folks. Perhaps we can have a gathering in the fall? It would be nice to see everyone again.

I went last night for the singing competition. I took a few pix. I also took a photo with Jennifer Yi. She was one of the MC's for the singing competition. She was a 2011 Miss Korea contestant. She's really pretty and super nice. I asked for a photo with her and we ended up taking several. I covered up my ugly mug lol. ;D Well Ginny, that answers the question of why I didn't see you LOL. we didn't get there until arund 3:45 - That was because I had told my childrenall adults LOL - that I wanted to stay until the singing competition - so they didn't want to go TOO early. Not sure what area in chicago you reside but birb mentioned above about having a picnic in Portage Park - which is between Iriving Park road, approx 4000 north, and Central Avenue, approx 5500 west. They have a huge amount of space there and a couple of field houses - not sure if they are open on week-ends for lavatory use. Summer is almost over now but if a few of us want to get together before winter starts again - and we know it will eventrually - a nice afternoon picnic on a Sat or Sunday woud be a nice time to get together. Is anyone else interested? I am close to Portage Park but others might find it a bit of a trip . . waiting to hear from others . . .

People love Portage Park, according to these comments! www.yelp.com/biz/portage-park-chicagoPortage Park 4100 N. Long Ave. Chicago IL 60641 Hours: Park: 6am - 11pm Fieldhouse: M-F 7am-9pm, Sa 9am-5pm, Su Closed Park Supervisor: Deb Groh (773) 685-7235 www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/parks/Portage-Park/So if the fieldhouse is open, there will be toilets? But it's a big park, with a variety of "facilities" including swimming pool. The list of "facilities" doesn't mention bathrooms or toilets, though. I can't imagine that they'd close toilets on Sundays. ?? --- The 36.5-acre park is much more than a pretty picture—it’s the site for hundreds of valuable sports, early childhood recreation and cultural programs, as well as fantastic family special events. Portage Park offers something for every kind of play—six tennis courts, a new soft-surface ADA accessible playground, a slab for in-line skating, a new dog friends area, a bike path, a nature walk, five baseball fields, two combination football/soccer fields and two fieldhouses, one housing a gymnasium and the other a cultural arts building. www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/parks/Portage-Park/--- It sounds like a beautiful park! (But with 36.5 acres, will we be able to find each other?)

;D Hi Ginny - The best way would b for someone of our group to scout locations and speak with the park super - that way if we need to have a permit or anythng, it can be taken care of and a location can be chosen. We should also determine if grills are allowed; they are in some parks and in others they are prohibityed. It's best to find out ahead of time. The streets boundaries are to the south: IRVING PARK ROAD - to the North - GRACE STREET; to the West: Central Avenue and of course the official address to the East: Long Avenue. If we get a spot on the Irving park side or whatever side, it should not be too difficult to find our group. Maybe we need a Raven's Flag circa DJY/ - The weathr forecasts have been very benefical for outdoor activities so I think if we are going to do this, we should do it soon before our "winter" season starts - whenever that might be. One of the Field houses that has the pool is on the Grace St side closer to Central than Long Ave. Hope we can do this - it has been quite a long time since we have had a Gathering --
