Started to watch the next episode and they went to a lady's home where she is known as a national treasure for making Korean sauces. She has over 1,200 clay pots in her yard. One of the pots has ganjang (soysauce) that is over 370 years old! I will watch the rest and comment if anything special comes up. The celebraties had to tranfer 3 differnt sauces to plastice tubs- one was soysauce, one was gochujang and I think the third one was fermented soy beans. The last two were tough because they are so thick and they had to empty the clay pot. I like this because it lets me learn more about Korea and I like how it is showing the history and how these people are so important to the country.

I finished this series and I really enjoyed many of the things I saw. The episodes were about the following things: catching octopus at the Getbol mud flats, weaving mosi hansan cloth, catching anchovies using Jukbang (a 600 yr old technique), Jjack:dyeing cloth blue from green plants, making makgeolli, making najeonchilgi: making pictures useing pieces of shells inlaid into the pictures. The episodes were interesting because it was amazing to see the time and effort the Korean people go through to make these things or in the in catching the octopus and anchovies. I think my favorites were the Jjack cloth dyeing and the neonchilgi pictures from shell fragments, because the effort it took and the final products were beautiful. I would certainly recommend watching this.

Not really upcoming but The Glory on Netflix is probably the best contemporary drama i have seen in a long time . Also worth watching with Choi Min Sik in Big Bet/ Casino which is on Hulu ( just to the free trial ) . Itβs his first Tv drama in eons .
Song Of The Bandits looks interesting in a Good The Bad And The Weird type way . It wonβt be arriving until later this year .

Flowers that Bloom at Night seems interesting for the premise, and I'm excited to see another Hwang Jin Young sageuk - how am I going to fit Iron Empress in between all this...

Interesting time period to pick! I'm relying on the show's 19+ rating to give us some believable Goguryeo sets and attire.

Thanks for the info on that truth--if it becomes available with subs online someplace we can certainly do a board for it. Certainly an unusual subject! Hope somebody subs it; not sure if it's intended to ever reach an audience beyond SK but we can hope.

Which raises the question. Will she be a villainous consort as the protagonist just like the Jang Heebin and Jang Heebinβesque evil consort historicals of the past or are they gonna make her a sympathetic hero?

Hope somebody subs it; not sure if it's intended to ever reach an audience beyond SK but we can hope. It could be on Netflix or Disney Plus which would have subtitles, but they wouldβve announced that either of the two were producing if that was the case. This is why Iβm just presuming it will be streamed on a Korean streaming service, but weβll have to see. The actress whoβs been cast as Queen Woo was recently on Korean version of Netflixβs Money Heist and was cast for a Netflix film set to be released on Winter 2023, so it is possible for this series to be on Netflix as well. If youβve never seen her act, I recommend watching the film Burning. Sheβs a phenomenal actress. She most recently starred on Hollywood film Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon

I saw both Mona Lisa and The Bloodmoon and Burning . She is a superb actress . I would watch it just for her alone . Itβs not going to be Netflix, their only historical this year is Song Of The Bandits ( Good The Bad And The Weird fans i think will like this as it has that spaghetti western influence ) . Hulu/ Disney tend to avoid anything with sex and violence so looks like we may need the fan subbers for this one .

Just eight episodes? Was hoping for something longer...but these days it's just good to see anybody making any kind of series so I won't complain. Is TVING a big enough service that they might subtitle the series in English? Or big enough that some foreign streamer would possibly be interested in running it?
Thanks as usual for keeping us informed, sure do appreciate it.
