This drama has been canceled off after airing just 2 episodes due to huge criticism regarding excessive amount of historical distortion. All the sponsors have called off their sponsorship after huge criticism from the public. SBS decided that drama could not continue without sponsors. I was reading about this earlier. I've seen cast & crew changes and Kdramas shortened while they're airing before. Can't recall another series being pulled off the air like that.

Well this one becomes the shortest entry in the timeline! Good riddance absolutely. That part about the pope co-founding Joseon was a great laugh, totally hilarious...but some of the rest of it was just pathetic, can't even laugh. I hope whoever at SBS signed off on the thing gets fired. You have to be a complete idiot to see content like that and not know that it would cause huge trouble.
And you know what, this didn't just happen in a vacuum. It happened because networks started messing with real historical stories for the sake of gimmicks, pandering to certain demographics, inserting contemporary-style romances and relationships, pushing the envelope farther and farther away from what historicals used to be. Probably not surprising that this was the series that finally burst the dam, considering that the creators were basically just ripping off Netflix Kingdom. But it's sad that it got this far. A lot of people out there with no respect for history. (Not just Korea, we have the same problem here.)
Hopefully some greater good comes out of this, as in networks pulling back from the silliness and being more faithful to true stories. Certainly SBS had better produce a darned good traditional historical real soon, they owe the Korean public that much.

p.s. Hey you know what, let's watch em! I'll do a board for it and we can trash the two episodes that aired. They're online in multiple places with English subs. Anybody else up for it?

Update : The descendants of the Royal Lee Family and descendants of Choi Young are asking for an official apology from SBS and the production team. Good luck, SBS lol

SBS Green Bean Flower(2019) 1st Air Date : April 26th, 2019 Writer : Jeong Hyeonmin(KBS Jeong Dojeon) Director : Shin Kyeongsu(SBS Six Flying Dragons, SBS Deep Rooted Tree) Time period : King Gojong of Joseon Dynasty Synopsis : Two brothers face each other in opposing sides during Donghak Peasant Revolution en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donghak_Peasant_Revolution Skimmed through first 13 episodes of this drama in 6 hours today and it's the closest thing SBS ever made that resembles a traditional historical. Story wise, it's mostly fiction with some historical events shown. However, it's the first SBS historical I've seen without fusion/fantasy style costumes. First time I've seen SBS with accurate looking costumes. The depiction of class system is accurate. (Not allowed to call your middle-class father by 'father' if you are an illegitimate child born from a slave) Sexual inequality is also depicted perfectly. (Women not allowed to eat on same table as men. I don't recall seeing this in other historical dramas. Not even in KBS traditionals.) There's still the lone girl fighter like every other historical, but she mostly just shoots enemies with a flintlock, which is more realistic than other dramas where girls are physically fighting with a sword. Many of the dialogues sound very like the kind of dialogues from Jeong Dojeon. You can easily notice the drama was written by writer of Jeong Dojeon if you have watched JD before. Overall, I would say this drama is somewhere between traditional historical and fusion historical. The director of this drama was also the director for Joseon Exorcist. Imagine going from this to that disaster. The traditional historical elements of this drama are probably all from Jeong Dojeon's writer judging from the director's past fusion historicals like Six Flying Dragons though. Will attempt to skim through the rest tomorrow.

Will attempt to skim through the rest tomorrow. Just finished this drama. Skipped every single love-storyline scenes. My overall impression is it's the most "traditional historical look-alike" drama SBS ever made, but I can't help but to think it's almost like a SBS version of Mr. Sunshine. Same film set built by Mr. Sunshine production team was used for this drama as well. The drama is mostly fiction, but it does try to stay accurate to history as much as possible when depicting historical characters and events. (Thanks to Jeong Dojeon's writer) But then again, there probably isn't too much history to show besides the ones they showed in the drama as this whole drama takes place during one year only(1894). Fun fact : Actress playing main character's mom(young QSD's step-mom from 2009 Queen Seondeok) is only 1 year older than him in real life.

Ahn Bo Hyun, Lee Yoo Bi and Park Ji Hyun will be joining Kim Go Eun in Yumi's Cells. It's about a woman named Yumi and told from the perspective of her cells. It's based on a webtoon. The series will have multiple seasons. Yumi has multiple love interests in the webtoon. It's believed each season will focus on a different suitor.

So the cells will be portrayed by real people?
I would have expected Osmosis Jones style animation for this kind of thing

So the cells will be portrayed by real people? I'm not sure how they'll handle it in the tv series but Yumi's Cells has a similar concept to Pixar's Inside Out. They could use people or just voices. If anyone is interested in the Yumi's Cells webtoon, you can check it out at the link below. Yumi's Cells

Oh, this webtoon!
I didn't read it, but the title popped up frequently in the main page some years ago.
This feels more fit for a cartoon than a live action show.
