SBS 신사의 품격 (A Gentleman's Dignity) official site: tv.sbs.co.kr/sinsa/dramafever: www.dramafever.com/drama/4121/1/A_Gentleman%27s_Dignity/viki: www.viki.com/channels/6108-a-gentlemen-s-dignitygenre: romantic comedy length: 20 episodes cast: Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ha Neul, Kim Soo Ro, Kim Min Jong, Lee Jong Hyuk, Yoon Se Ah, Kim Jung Nan, Lee Jong Hyun (CNBLUE), Kim Woo Bin description: A Gentleman's Dignity is an upcoming SBS drama about four friends in their 40's who have had trouble finding love. Brought to you by the director and writer of Secret Garden. It begins on May 26 in Korea. SBS A Gentleman's Dignity PreviewThe wonderful Kim Ha Neul will be playing a role of Seo Yi Soo. She's a strict high school teacher and an umpire at amateur baseball games in her spare time. Jang Dong Gun will play the role of Kim Do Jin. He's an architect with a sharp tongue. Kim Soo Ro will be playing Im Tae San. He's an older bachelor with no game. (Note: I find his character description odd because Tae San has a girlfriend.) Lee Jong Hyuk will be play Lee Jung Rok. He's a married playboy and part of a celebrity baseball team. Kim Min Jong plays the role of Choi Yoon. He's a considerate lawyer. Tae San's girlfrined, Hong Se Ra, will be played by Yoon Se Ah. CNBLUE member Lee Jong Hyun is cast as a student named Colin. This drama sounds interesting. I thought come June the only shows I'd have to worry about keeping up with would be TNT's Falling Skies and the SBS drama Ghost but I think I'll be watching this too.

I watched the first 2 eps of AGD. Do Jin falls for Yi Soo at first sight. Yi Soo is secretly in love with Tae San. Tae San is dating Yi Soo's friend Se Ra. Do Jin learns about Yi Soo's feelings for Tae San and things become a tangled web of K-Drama silliness from there.
You also have Joon Hyuk. He's a married playboy who owns a coffee shop. He married Min Sook for her family's money. Min Sook is aware of cheating ways and keeps a close eye on him. I don't think there's anything funny about a guy who cheats on his wife. To their credit, they'll show him flirting with other girls but you don't actually see him cheating.
Then you have the lawyer Yoon and Tae San's younger sister Me Ah Ri. Yoon is a widower, who hasn't gotten over the death of his wife. Me Ah Ri is in love with him and throws herself at him every chance she gets. I'm all for pursuing someone if you have feelings for them rather then keeping quiet about it (like Yi Soo is doing) but she comes off as overly desperate.
I like how the 4 friends interact with each other. I find that aspect of the drama relatable. Regardless of age, when a group of friends get together, they can revert to behaving like teens. The end of ep 2 was the funny. The rest was just silly and over the top.

I am up to ep. 8 and things are moving along-- some of the antics of these guys are so funny I just laugh out loud. I like the scene in ep8 when Da Jin gives Yi Soo a pair of shoes and tells her that even though they are expensive, he is paying on a payment plan so each payment falls under her rules as a resonable priced gift. The camera angles as they filmed him placing the shoes in front of her made it really click......

bird The safety pins have yet to be explained but a Viki user had a good theory. Due to Do Jin's memory issues, he uses the safety pins to remember what he wore the previous day. Another possibility is that the safety pins are in tribute to Secret Garden. In SG, Ra Im uses safety pins to fix her bag. AGD is from the same director and writer that did SG.

This drama needs Maury Povich. I don't think the dad is Do Jin but I think he knows who it is. I don't think it's Yoon either. Jung Rok is too obvious. My guess is it's Tae San.

I am now all caught up with this drama and in acute withdrawal wondering when the episode will be added! I like the explanation for the saftey pins, it makes sense. I was wondering when the guy would show up and add to the story-- I think that Jung Rok is too obvious but I hope it doesn't destroy the guy's friends or anything between Do Jin and Yi Soo.....

I watched episode one of the drama, but I'm not a huge fan. It seems like it might get raunchy over time. I like watching K-drama for the wholesome qualities.

Despite the events of this week, I still think Tae San is the father. Before Do Jin said it was him, Tae San looked worried when Yoon brought up doing a DNA test. Yoon only said he was the lawyer for the father's company at the end of episode. He never said Do Jin's name so he could have meant Tae San. Even if Do Jin isn't the father, I don't expect him to get back with Yi Soo right away.

It turns out Do Jin is the father. Lame. I can't help but feel that he's the father only because he's the main character. I think it would have been better for Tae San to be the dad.

I agree, I thought that Do Jin being the father was way too obvious, although so was Jung Rok since he was a playboy. Yoon seems too quiet and Tae San would have been a good guess. I thought both Do Jin and Yi Soo overreacted to the news that Do Jin was the father, although Do Jin's reactions to anything is not what you would expect! It's not like an infant was dropped in his lap-- the kid is 19 years old! I'm sure the news would have been shocking but for them to just give up on each other so quickly didn't seem believable. I watched the latest episode tonight and the storyline between Yoon and Me Ah Ri builds in this episode and Yoon really comes out of his shell, really liked this episode a lot. Something about Yoon, made me keep an eye on him and it was really great watching him come alive in this episode!
