There should have been a couple of real game changers in this episode if HBO had followed the book but they always end the season on a whimper not a scream . I have this fear not that every season will play like the first three ,some good episodes ,lots of filler ,shocking game changing episode than a muted finale . S1 ended with the birth of the dragons. I think that was a game changer. I don't think the S3 finale was bad. Just helped fill in some blanks. The fillers have been more of a trend the past 2 seasons.

I think a lot of the filler is just down to the fact HBO are getting closer to the end of Martins books ,i read Martin suggested they do a prequel instead which HBO rejected , Showtime dropped The Borgias (which funny enough now opens the door for HBO to run their version )after 3 seasons without ending it and without warning ,considering the howls of protest (HBO should be familiar with this as they did the same with Deadwood )HBO would probably like to avoid a similar reception but it seems their fate is in the hands of an author who is in no hurry to finish his books . Martin originally wanted this series to be a film franchise like LOTR/Hobbit but was unable to interest major studios ,he was going to sell the rights to the BBC (Hence their animosity towards the series )but lost out at the last minute to HBO who have the power to make a bigger production . HBO are probably regretting all the scenes and characters they dropped at this stage . One thing i did not like is in the books prior to his death Robb makes Jon Snow legitimate and also makes him his heir which pisses off Catelyn no end . Interesting take here on why the series is better than the books which is good news to myself as now i will not have to read them . twitchfilm.com/2013/06/destroy-all-monsters-hbos-game-of-thrones-is-better-than-the-books.html

What exactly was it about Robb legitimizing Jon you didn't like? If anything it shows how close the two are.

No what i did not like was the fact they excluded it from the TV version ,This would have really give so much more depth to the Snow character had HBO depicted this .

Oh I must have misread your post then. Yeah, I was a bit irritated too. Who doesn't like Stark sibling affection?

No kidding and it would be great to see the remaining Stark children reunited at least as vengeance seems impossible at this point .

Oh I must have misread your post then. Yeah, I was a bit irritated too. Who doesn't like Stark sibling affection? I'm sure the fangirls would have loved that. There's a new GOT game titled Game of Thrones Ascent from Disruptor Beam. The game can be played at Kongregate or Facebook but the best way is to go directly to the official site for GOT Ascent. It's a browser based game. Game of Thrones AscentGOT Ascent Preview

Where to start with this ? As expected the series will overlap the books so Martin has provided HBO with a guide line to finish the series as the new season will take us into Book 5 .
Ramsey Bolton is played by Alfie Allen who is Lilly's brother ,and dad was the Sheriff of Notingham on Robin Hood (TV Series ).
Martin also wants two films ,the first which is an original script by George is set 90 years before season one ,he also wants HBO to conclude the saga with a film after the series finishes .

Probably am in the minority on this but i found the opening meandering to say the least ,except for the Arrya and the Hound scenes it seemed to limp along content to rehash stuff we have seen before . I think the series is getting stale and formula driven ,in so much as every season will trundle along with the 9th episode being the one where things jump off ,than back to anti climatic snails pace .
I hope i am wrong .

Even though I liked the premiere, I can understand why you feel that way. Felt a little slow in areas. I love how the episode opens with Tywin having Ned Stark's sword melted, symbolizing his confidence that Westeros is in Lannister hands. The fires, the compositional shots of the molten metal with the Rains of Castamere in the background, its great few minutes.
There a new meme now? Sandor wants chicken? (first Bidam now Sandor)

Wow this episode was a game changer ,i expected this to have happened last season but using the books as a guide will get you nowhere because everything is re written . This should really put the cat among the pigeon's .
Rains of Castamere is such a great song ,all versions save for the dubstep remix .
