Ep.63-
Song does well at her court-woman studies, but keeps forgetting to talk down to people. Queen Hyeoui happily mentors her. Song pretends to Q-H and San that Dowager Hye has accepted her, but she is repeatedly humiliated. Later, D-Hye tells Q-H she’ll bring in a new concubine and insists she’ll never give Song her title or receive her. Song insists that she has to handle it on her own and that Q-H shouldn’t tell San either. [Hmm. Maybe he won’t notice that new concubine…]
Later, the soap opera continues. D-Hye refuses to attend her own birthday celebration, but Hyeoui talks her around to coming. When they meet Song on the way, D-Hye has another kitten fit that San overhears. Song won’t let anyone defend her and does not attend.
San tries to conciliate his mother by promising to take in another concubine if she just acknowledges Song, but she refuses. [D-Hye should yell at D-Hye for making all this unnecessary fuss.] Finally, Chobi finds out Lady Kim is choosing an attendant for Song, so she “weeps” near Lady Kim’s path, pretending deep friendship for Song. Lady Kim appears to buy it.
San meets secretly with illegal peddlers, who recognize him from their previous dealings under Yeong-jo’s reign. San tells them trade restrictions will be lifted, and this, he does. The merchant clans storm the palace, close up their shops and burn their own goods (again). San releases palace stores for sale, licenses peddlers and declares that (a) any clan which accepts the new law will get special subsidies, (2) those who do not will have their chiefs arrested, and (iii) he (San) has a secret weapon he’ll use if he has to.
The merchant clan chiefs swear not to give in, but then mysteriously re-open their shops and ask San to come to the marketplace and speak with the clans personally. San agrees. Hong has a fit—it’s too dangerous. San says he’ll go any time they want him.
Sir Choi and Tebi M. have wanted Hong to hurry the Wan Poong adoption, which he agrees to after San agrees to meet the merchants. Hong sends D-S and Kang out to secretly investigate the merchant chiefs. Tebi M uses Hong’s fear of Lord Jang’s interference to get him to investigate Sir Min's connection to that worthy.
Lord Jang has just heard of the Wan Poong matter and that the Norons have been ordered to support it when he is further infuriated by a visit from Sec’y Hong, who comes to search Jang’s home. They humiliate and then arrest him when D-S finds a letter in Jang’s desk from “the criminal Min.” Jang is dragged away as Min declares his revenge [to himself] from the shadows.
Hyeoui sees Wan Poong on the palace grounds and gives him tea; she thinks she should take care of him now that he’s a member of the royal family. The child innocently reveals that he’s “the royal heir.” She asks who told him that.
At San’s cabinet meeting, he is puzzled by Sir Choi’s demand that he designate a royal heir. Just before Wan Poong’s name is mentioned, San appears to realize what Hong has been up to.

Song looks super pretty in that Won Bin outfit. Much prettier than Won Bin did, and much prettier than Song did as a damo. But she looked pretty in the Qing costume, too, I guess it’s not surprising. Maybe it’s how her hair is around her face?
However, I wonder if “Won Bin” is a title? Will Song now be called “Won Bin” (that is, if D-Hye ever gives the title to her)? I’ll have to pay closer attention.
Hey, sorry you guys. I had this all ready for posting then my brain missed the date. I don't know what's wrong with me lately; I mean, more than noramalle...
