Candylover! Great to have you back. Thanks for the tips about the books.
Question for you: You used to have a nice chart posted on the Internet, showing the time periods of some of the historical dramas. Have you ever updated that chart? One thing I would really like to do here in our forum is post a simple chronology showing the dates of all of the Korean historicals. I actually still have a printed-out copy of your chart from several years ago. I was thinking that after QSD is done here in the spring, I would ask everyone for help scrounging up shows and dates. Apparently there isn't any such thing online anywhere, at least not in English. So it would be neat to have one here.

young jindeok's quite a silent creeper. truth: seondeok and jindeok might be in good terms as you said, yes, but how about jindeok's relationship to muyeol? were there any records implying they don't go much well together...? Nope. This drama's story of Jindeok and Muyeol having bad relationship is totally fiction

hey guys.. what is "bad blood" means ?
@ sageuk: i think it had another meaning ...
@ truth: the biggest temple in Korea at that time had been the one with 60 meters high, but it was destroyed due to wars and invaders. Right ?
The English wiki is probably incorrect , QSD was Chunchu's aunt so she couldn't even younger than him (Chunchu was born in 601.)

The Korean drama timeline chart you metioned is now unavailable on the net, and I do not intend to update it because now there are too many Korean historicals for me to handle. That's why I gave up. But making of the chart is simple. You need two programs. One is called Genelines Timeline, which produces the chart. The price 29.95 USD. progenygenealogy.com/products/timeline-charts/universal-version.aspxThe idea is to replace ancesters' names and their life spans with drama names and the periods the dramas are set in. progenygenealogy.com/products/timeline-charts/genelines-sample-charts/family-group.aspxAnd the other is called Legacy Family Tree, which produces data files for Genelines Timeline. You need to type in drama names and the periods the dramas are set in instead of ancesrters' names and their life spans. I think free version is enough for the purpose of just typing data into files. www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadLegacy.aspThe programs are so easy to use that you could not only reproduce the chart from the printed-out copy quickly but also make better one. I'm sorry for being unable to upgrade the chart. But at least I showed that genealogy programs are very useful to Korean drama fans, didn't I? If you're interested in continuing the work of upgrading the chart, I could help by doing some historical research on the dramas and providing with the time data needed to make the chart.

Umm, I gotta excel chart I started but never could finish, you want that ajk? It's only one page, I think the main value would be the listing of historical eras down the left side.

Thanks for the info, candylover. Actually I think I'm going to try formatting something that we can post here, as a regular post. (So no thanks, Bo--I'm going to try something different than Excel.) I have some ideas and when I get some time I'll start experimenting to see what displays best. Maybe Thanksgiving, or Christmas, or maybe not until we're done with QSD in the spring. But I'll get it done.
I do appreciate the offer of the information, candylover, and I'll take you up on it. Nothing urgent, but over the next few months if you come across the dates of different historicals and can just keep track of them, I'll definitely be needing all that when I get the first version posted. That would be great. Same goes for anybody else who wants to pitch in.

Annals of Queen Jindeok(?-654 R.647-654)
Jindeok was the daughter of Galmun King Gukban and Lady Wolmyung. Her full name was Kim Seungman. She became the second female ruler of Shilla on January of 647.
Jindeok appointed Alcheon as the prime minister as soon as Bidam was executed and sent a messenger to Tang to let them know about her ascension to throne. On October, Baekje surrounded Musan, Kam Mool, Dong Jam. Kim Yushin fought back with 10,000 soldiers. General Bi Nyung Ja and his son Guh Jin were killed in action. Their bravery boosted the Shilla morale and Shillans were able to kill 3,000 Baekje troops.
On March of 648, General Uijik of Baekje conquered 10 Shilla fortresses including Yoguh Fortress in West Shilla. Fortunately, Kim Yushin's brilliant tactics killed most of Uijik's troops and forced Uijik to retreat.
On August of 649, General Eun Sang of Baekje conquered 7 Shilla fortresses including Seokto Fortress. Kim Yushin fought against the enemies for 10 days and massacred 9,000 Baekje troops at Dosal Fortress.
Around this time, Kim Choon Chu was in Tang as a diplomat. KCC asked for Tang's help against Shilla's 2 enemies and promised to change Shilla's flag and clothes to Tang flag and clothes. When Emperor Taizong of Tang scolded Shilla for not using the Tang era name, another Shilla diplomat named Gam Jil Huh promised to replace Shilla's own era name with Tang's era name.
When Gaozong became Tang's emperor after Taizong's death, Jindeok wrote a poem called the "Peace Song," which praised the greatness of Tang and sent KCC's son Kim Bupmin(King Moonmu) to deliver the poem to Tang. Shilla did its best to get on Tang's good side, because Shilla was so weak at this point that it could be easily crushed if Goguryeo and Baekje formed an alliance to invade Shilla.
Queen Jindeok passed away on March of 654. Her tomb is located on Saryangbu. Emperor Gaozong sent Tang's Great Prime Minister Zhang Wenshu to send his condolences to Shilla and gave 300 silks as condolence gifts.

Truth do we know actually how both Seondeok and Jindeok died ? and roughly what were their respective ages at death ?. Like I said on the last page, Seondeok died of illness. Jindeok probably died for same reason or just of old age. They were probably in their 60s when they died.

@ truth:
- i assume, sangdaedeung is equal to prime minister, yes? i'm just curious when was Alcheon born. he is depicted in GKD as someone of the same age as jinpyeong (the looks), but in QSD, he's was at the same age as Yushin.
was he already present during jinpyeong reign? when he took that post on jindeok's time, what was his age? he must be really old by that time then?

GKD's age is more accurate. Yes, he must have been really old by Jindeok's time.
