I never even watched this drama. Is it as bad as Gwanggaeto?

Well considering truth couldn't watch a single episode of Gwanggaeto, and yet is watching this one regardless of how bad it is.....I think it speaks for it itself.

Sageuks right. It still has more history than Gwanngaeto despite my complaining.
One more thing though. Why is a random white guy bodyguarding Xu Dingfang?

A product of the Silk Road? Only plausible explanation unless I'm missing something

Baekje Prince shoots Kim Yushin's chest with arrow. Gyebaek scolds him for doing so, apologizes to Kim Yushin, and even gives him a herbal medicine to drink. That's it. I will never watch a drama written by Yu Dong Yoon(writer of Great King's Dream) again. Aw come on, truth--the guy shot his drinkin' buddy! Shouldn't he look out for him?

I've heard of enemies respecting each other
Sounds like here its a bit silly and ridiculous
I wonder if the real Gyebaek and Yushin did respect each other as warriors, with Gyebaek's determination to fight to the death and loyalty to the crown, and Kim Yushin being Silla's greatest warrior, and embodying the way of the hwarang (loyalty). As I never lived in that era, I really can't say for sure if my assumption of respect is right, but even if the two did respect each other's skills, the only thing dominating their minds was fighting for their country; only one will stand in that fight.

Episode 58
Gyebaek is now dead
This episode followed history for the most part except for the part where Kim Yushin tries to kill his son in order to scare Xu Dingfang.
In history, Xu Dingfang ordered Kim Yushin to kill a man named Kim Moon Young(not Yushin's son), but Kim Yushin says that Xu would have to kill a Tang man first before he orders him to do so.

truth: I've found this site while searching for some more history facts during this period ... I read the first line about the year fact and guess it might relates to some history events here... do you know what is it about? blog.daum.net/yeagimong/3704

BTW, this drama will end with episode 70(June 9th) due to low ratings. It was supposed to end at ep80. That means it won't cover King Shinmoon's rule and it might not even cover King Moonmu's rule.

Episode 59
Historical mistakes
1. When Buyeo Yoong surrenders, he surrendered because the Crown Prince's son talked him into surrendering in history not b/c Beopmin(King Moonmu) talked him into surrendering like the drama.
2. Uija surrenders in this drama, but historically he was captured by a Baekje man named Ye Shik Jin who turned him in to Xu Dingfang for a spot at the Tang royal court.
Neither Crown Prince's son nor Ye Shik Jin appeared in this drama.

Episode 60
Historical mistakes
1. Choong Sang gets killed by Do Choong, a fictional character. In history, he lives happily ever after in Shilla.
2. Sang Young gets killed by Bokshin. In history, Sang Young was executed for losing a battle against Baekje Revival Movement.
3. Dochim is Goguryean in this drama and YGSM is secretly backing up the BRM. In history, Dochim was a Baekjenese, not Goguryean.
4. Just as I expected, the Saint King Muyeol of this drama was all kind and goody goody to Uija who happened to be the killer of his daughter lol. He is still saying that he wishes to unify the three kingdoms to "save" the people of three kingdoms from the tortures of warfare, which makes no sense. It seems that the Baekje people do not wanna be "saved" at all by King Muyeol since they are all rising up to join the Baekje Revival Movement against Shilla and Tang. What makes even less sense is when Muyeol tries to persuade Uija into getting the BRM to surrender. Uija rejects by saying Baekje will never die. Muyeol then accuses Uija of being a tyrant because he put all his people in danger. If Uija was a tyrant, then the Baekje people wouldn't be rising up against the Tang-Shilla forces. No matter how much they try to portray Muyeol as some kind of saintly hero, Uija reminds me of King Bojang from DJY while Kim Choon Chu reminds me of Xui Rengui.
The Positive
1. Baekje Revival Movement has started and they remind me of the Dongmyoungchun League from Dae Jo Young. Bokshin looks like the main character rather than Kim Choon Chu lol.
2. They didn't include the 3000 concubine scene, which is written in the historical record but considered to be false.
Overall thought : The current story has been the most interesting part of this entire drama. I have no clue why they wasted so many episodes with stupid Queen Seungman and Gwimoon. The show only got interesting with Bidam's rebellion. The annoying Seungman storyline should have ended at Episode 15. Seriously, what is wrong with the drama staff?

There is no remaining painting of Kim Choon Chu. I think KBS meant CSJ's acting makes you think he is the reincarnation of KCC or something like that.
