Well it is early days yet this show does not start in Korea until Mid May and the Int version will be about 6 weeks after that . I think its probably way to early to post it and if Gwanggaeto gets a further extension even longer ,Gwanggaeto is a big hit in fact KBS's biggest Saguek since DJY so a further extension would be no surprise .

DYC you are right. I confused the start date of this drama with when the "kiddie" historical "The Moon That Embraces the Sun" starts...

Hi guys
I was looking for info on the new sageuk that's going to be airing soon and thought it was this one but it isn't... just discovered the sageuk i was looking for is called God of War and its also set during the period of the three kingdoms. I remember a while back somebody made a comment about a preference for Gorgoryeo era sageuks rather than Joseon - was it you DYC? For some reason i have not really liked the dramas i've watched that were based in the 3 Kingdoms era, they've been soso. Like Queen SeonDeuk and King Geunchogo - i liked the action/fighting scenes espec in QSD but other than that i didn't think much of them. God of War stars Kim Joo-hyuk as a man named Kim Joon who was born to the slave class and rose to power. That's all the info i can find about it, not sure which of the 3 kingdoms exactly, this drama starts airing on the 11th of Feb. Any of you guys have details on this show? I've seen the trailers but it did not pique my interest, it doesn't look promising at all even the fighting scenes. Any drama that has an awesome fighting sequences always wins me over even when all the other elements of the drama are sub par.
I was also on the lookout for posts on The Moon that Embraces the Sun but it doesn't seem like anyone here is watching, atleast i haven't seen any posts on it. Its actually pretty good, the young cast did a very good job - such great talent. They started it off really well, we'll just have to see if the older actors can keep the momentum. So far the older version of the king is doing a great job.

So far the older version of the king is doing a great job. I prefer pre-Joseon dramas, because there's been hundreds of Joseon dramas and most of Joseon period has been covered over and over again. I'm pretty much tired of them. I'm so tired of them that Deep Rooted Tree was the first Joseon era Saguek I watched since Iljimae(2008). There are still many parts of pre-Joseon era dramas that hasn't been covered though. The Moon that Embraces the Sun, by the way, shouldn't really be called a Saguek(which literally means historical play). It consists of 100% fictional story and fictional characters who never existed. I mentioned this in the other thread as well, but God of Warriors is NOT a Three Kingdom era drama. In fact, it takes place about 600 years after Three Kingdom era completey ended.

Hi DYC, just read your post re: King Taejong Muyeol not airing in Korea till mid may/or even later, thanks for the info. Now I have a little time when I get back to Chicago (end march/mid april to do all my chores so that hopefully I will find a site to watch...as you are aware if I can't find a site to watch my favorite Choi Soo Jong ) the sad factor will be unbearable, and this from me, a usually calm cool & collected human. However, always looking at the bright side of life there must be a way for me to follow this drama. Will keep reading on this board for any further details..again thanks so much and appreciated all the hard work you did to post. it is saturday 28th (2012)@11:34pm...you are 9 hours earlier in Cali. regards Jolson

Here's a bad news for CSJ fans...
There is a possiblity that CSJ might be pulled out of this drama. CSJ agreed to do this drama, but he hasn't signed an official contract yet. So it is possible for him to pull out anytime.
The Korean media also recently criticized CSJ for....
1. Doing too many historicals 2. He's known for doing Goguryo related people(Both Wang Guhn, Dae Jo Young claimed their kingdom to be the New Goguryeo), so he shouldn't play a person(Muyeol) who put an end to Goguryo.

Is the second point an actual legitimate criticism? Is so, then wow.

Hi truth, just read your post re: the removal of Choi Soo Jong from drama (Taejong) he has not signed official contract, how could he do that to me his great fan? i was looking forward to the drama, now I have to be so sad on daily basis till further notice....oh such is life...whoever the THEY are...who are pulling him out of drama are doing a horrible thing to me,ha ha ha,actually not funny...since i am a peace loving person I would never think of protesting, but this situation deserves a protest...however,looking at the bright side of life I will pretend that the drama proceeds with the marvelous actor CSJ...thats it for today 8pm here in germany/holland.... I must now go and shed some tears,
regard,have a nice day Jolson

Is the second point an actual legitimate criticism? Is so, then wow. Many Koreans tend to prefer Goguryo over Silla. Silla is usually criticized for using foreign(Chinese) help to attack Goguryo and Baekje. Although I'm a descendant of Park Hyukguhsae, the founder of Silla, I also prefer Goguryo over Silla. I honestly don't care about CSJ playing Muyeol though. I mean why the heck does it even matter? I think the popularity of Goguryo has to do with the image of virtue, courage, and masculinty. It's like the Sparta of Korea. And to Jolson.... CSJ hasn't been pulled out of the drama yet, so there is nothing to be sad about. Just hope that he doesn't get pulled out

I can somewhat understand the criticism of Choi Su-jong. If you think about it, the guy has been typecast alot to the point we don't see a character, but an actor playing a character, if any of you know what I mean. I speak of course, from a critical standpoint, not to mention its leaning on the safezone. Don't get me wrong, he's a good actor, but there won't be a character anymore.
