I don't know how to describe my reaction to this drama.
After watching Ep6, I have to say this drama is my favorite historical of all time.
This drama isn't a drama, it's a movie!
The quality of this drama is as good as the movie Gladiator in my opinion.
It's pretty sad that this drama has low ratings.
The Mongols made their first apperance in Ep6, although it was only for like 1 minute.

I have read that the main PD and assist. PD have joined the ongoing MBC strike. I hope they aren't replaced as the quality would go down. The PD of the MBC ratings winner is also on strike so hopefully this will finally make the MBC president step down.

The PD of the MBC ratings winner is also on strike so hopefully this will finally make the MBC president step down. That is a good decision for MBC and Korean people, but bad for the drama. The drama finally reached its highest rating so far this past Sunday(12%). It's only 5 percent behind Gwangaeto now. All the momentum it had could be gone by the time the strike is over. Who knows when this is going to end? This strike's been going on for over a month now. I think KBS should go on a strike as well. Both the presidents of KBS and MBC are ass-kissers of the current Korean president Lee Myung-Bak, because they were appointed by Lee. I really hope that Moon Jae-in, the likely candidate for the liberal Unified Democratic Party, will get elected as presient this year and put an end to this insane conservative right wing government.

Only four episodes in, and I'm already poised to nominate both female leads for the Character Most in Need of a Good Smack Award.

Its that daughter of Choi Woo and the fat slave right?
To think that TV stations are being controlled by the head of the state....and this is supposed to be a democracy...Korea always had autocrats in the past but still......its my belief that governments should stay out of the entertainment business

My sole problem is the music keeps playing constantly in the background. Ironically stripping some scenes of otherwise emotional heft if it had been silent instead. Also some jarring editing.

I noticed the name Kim Kyongson in this drama. Is it possibly the same Kim Kyongson who would later defend Kuju Fortress with Pak Seo?
Also, didn't Cho'e U have a son who would later succeed him, CHo'e Hang? Either he will appear in the future or one of those slacker sons of his are Hang

As for Choi Hang, one of the slacker sons is Choi Hang.

Justt saw the Gyeokgu match. Man, I haven't had this much fun in watching Kdramas since the Battle of Myeongryang in IYSS...yeah, the fight wasn't even a battle between armies and it was that intense

So far the biggest flaw in the drama in my opinion are the lead girls. Written on paper, Choi Song-i would be a great character, but Kim Gyu-ri needs some work; her conveying the character feels a little forced. To her credit, she's better than how she started out. Wol A is just downright shallow. All she does is CRY. I understand why considering the situation she's in, but so far her only purpose in the show was to provide some waterworks.
Aaaah....such a good drama.....maybe there will be a point where quality decreases, but for now I'm going to savor every moment

I have yet to watch this to be honest i was put off by it being mooted as in the same league as Gladiator which sucked for a variety of reasons implausible and historically inaccurate being two biggies .And none of the trailers seem that impressive but ready to take the plunge .

Haven't seen Gladiator outside of fight scenes, and it isn't very often I meet someone who hates it, the deriders saying it's Hollywood cliche land. And you say that you usually don't mind historical inaccuracy. Isn't this a little hypocritical?
Best to have a look at the drama. Its great fun....

I am loving the sort of half senile portrayal of Choi choong Hun. It's such a contrast from Kim Gap Suu's portrayal.
