I thought that site was for live streaming only. I've been a member there for a while, maybe I need to check it out more thoroughly. Thanks.

Did Koreans wear brigandine back then? It seems a little too soon. They did wear them in the final part of Koryo. What did they wear during the Warrior regime? That is unknown. I guess that's why they used the brigandines in this drama, which is much better than creating a fantasy armor like Jumong, Shindon, and Iron Empress. Brigandines should have came out in Shindon because the drama is about the final part of Koryo, but they wore fantasy armors instead.

WHy are there half an episode? Koryo armor is really difficult to find.....but regarding the armor during the Warrior regime, I read that according to a Song diplomat in the book Koryo-dogyung, armor was black colored and was made of either iron or leather. I'm also going to assume the way they wore armor was lamellar....which was how my drawings of Koryo generals were portrayed....BTW, this was written in 1123... I'm going to assume the brigandine was influenced by the Mongols right? And it would appear plated chainmail was also during the late-Koryo period As for soldiers, thats a little difficult to say. Paintings of the the Mongol Invasion of Japan show the invaders, and most sources tend to say the soldiers with the funny ears are the Koryo soldiers... Then here's this article saying its Koryo armor in Yasukuni Shrine, yet its brigandine. article.joinsmsn.com/news/article/article.asp?ctg=17&total_id=4768626

Well, I just watched the first episode and it wasn't bad. . . . . . - No sappy music - No one yelling, snarling, screaming, twitching or otherwise overacting - No comic relief - no cliff-jumping - great attention to detail in costumes and sets (not qualified to comment on the armor) - no scenes of the hero's unhappy childhood (however, since this is only the first episode, this could still happen...) - some questionable casting - Choi Son #2 looks a lot older than Son #1
I have to say I already love CCH.
I think I'm going to have to refresh my memory of the CCH years from Age of Warriors, since some of it's getting revisited here.

^Glad I'm not the only one who finds it really odd that the younger brother looks several years older than the older bro
I really like how unrelenting the violence was...especially the harshness of the officers towards the prisoners, showing us this is not a happy world

Choi Woo and many of the high class generals are wearing the thing Japanese wore during Imjin War. I thought Ep1 was boring, but then it got so much better in Ep2,3,4. If you liked Ep1, you will love the rest of them. Ep4 was my favorite so far. Sadly, this drama is doing pretty bad(7% ratings) compared to the drama full of yelling, snarling, screaming, twitching(17% ratings). As for the set, they are re-using the set from QSD. The set went from being a Shilla building in QSD, Baekjae building in Gyebaek, and now its a Koryo building.

I watched ep 1 unsubbed and i really like it . I am really impressed with this drama and if it gets better that is great
I was watching Taira No Kiyomori on drama crazy subbed and that of course in the same year 1170 in both Japan and Korea the military overthrew the govnts and seized control , ironic anyway the sets and costumes in Kiyomori are very realistic ,its great to have two top notch historicals on now .

I wonder if that was the costume designer's intention. The warrior regimes of Koryo have alot in common with the shogunate of Japan: military leader, monarch is a figurehead, etc. The generals wearing outfits like the samurai's haori....in order to emulate that? Ah well, better than the RPG armors, right?
BTW truth, the soldiers in that painitng?

I'm okay with the armors though. They're too colorful, but they actually tried to make them look like a historical armor as much as possible. I agree with you on the painting.

Agree what on the painting? That thats what Koryo soldiers looked like?
The armor seems to have more in common with the chainmail in late Koryo, right?
Choi Woo's daughter is annoying....

Here's something funny regarding the scenes with Cho'e Chungheon when playing chess. The way he talks when it came to board games almost reminded me of the interactions I had with my own grandpa whenever we play baduk/go together, minus the drinking and the old man losing. That scene adds more humanity and realism with the character. The man is just a old grandpa in spite of the power he has
I also love how the narrator downright admits he doesn't know why Cho'e Chungheon favor Hyang over U
