Additonal Cast : Yi Kyubo(Actor : Cheon Hojin[played Dong Yi's father in Dong Yi]) - Yi Kyubo was a famous poet and a historian of the era. His most famous work is Life of King Dongmyung(Jumong). He was one of the few scholars who survived the warrior regime. He is going to come out as a close friend of Choi Choong Hun in the drama, but he hated Choi in real history. Choi Hyang(Actor : Jung Sung Mo[Kim Yushin's father in QSD, Yoon Choong in Gyebaek] - Choi Woo's younger brother Song Kiryu(Actor : Jung Hobin[Moon No in QSD] - General who works for Choi Woo Emperor Gojong(Actor : Lee Seung Hyo[Alchun in QSD] - The puppet ruler

Did the Mongol wiping out military rule change anything? Instead of being a puppet to the Choe's, Koryo Emperors were puppet to the Mongols.

He cuts off the puppet strings for another one... ^A line from my Sambyeolcho comic, from those who haven't read it. iam-artist.deviantart.com/gallery/35037656#/d4o1payI know that Koryo sent LOTS of tribute to the Yuan Empire, and I'd like to assume there was Mongol influence of the court

Just watched the 1st episode. It was okay, but this show is really slow. I almost fell alseep watching it. The one hour of this episode would have happened in like 15-20 minutes in QSD or oter historicals.
It looks like armors and clothes were made by the same place as QSD and Gyebaek.
It tried to follow real history as much as possible.
Historical flaws of Ep 1 : Yi Kyubo as a friend of Choi Choong Hun Kim Joon as a buddhist monk

Usually a first episode should hook the viewer its a dangerous game ratings wise to attempt a slow buildup .

Just watched Episode 2.
This is the most realistic historical I've ever seen. Finally! Although some Korean media is criticizing that it was too cruel, I seriously doubt that these historical times were all flowers and butterflies like the other historicals.
I loved the long argument between Choi Choong Hun and the Head Monk. I felt like I'm watching Age of Warriors or Tears of Dragon again.
Kim Gyuri, the actress playing Choi Woo's daughter, is a terrible actress. The actress playing the slave girl Wora is so much better at acting and more beautiful than Kim Gyuri. I hope Kim Gyuri(Choi Song)gets dumped in the love triangle so that Kim Joon could marry Wora.
The flashback of young Kim Joon getting his hair shaved to become a monk reminded me of young Goong Ye's scene in Emperor Wang Guhn. EWG was written by Yi Hwan Gyung like this drama, so I guess it makes sense.
The Bad : There are a lot of pointless evil laughs like most Yi Hwan Gyung dramas.

^I remember you being initially reluctant because Yi Hwan GYung wrote Yeon Gaesomun, which you disliked. After watching this, does this make you wonder what went wrong when he wrote YGSM?
I can imagine Kim Joo Hyuk having nice conversations with Yi Hwan Gyung, considering....
Alas, a historical that doesn't hold back
Yeeeeesh, that girl looks HIDEOUS! (Choi Woo's daughter)
Can't wait for subs to come up

It was good until episodes with Kim Gap Su(forgot the Chinese emperor's name) ended and then things got so bad I just couldn't watch it anymore. This drama is currently 7% lower than Gwanggaeto's rating. I hope the ratings get higher than Gwanggaeto soon. That would teach KBS to stop making a comedy with everyone doing nothing but yelling throughout the whole 100 episodes.

You Tube has a bunch of clips that is about it really .
Later this year SBS will revisit the subject for a new drama .
I did not know but the Sejong Drama was adapted from the last part of the Tears Of The Dragon book which sort of explains why many of the same cast from Tears played the same roles .

I don't see whats to complain about the cruelty portrayed. But if its causing criticism because of that, sounds like good news to me if its brutal...I like it when a medium doesn't hold back
But seriously, I've seen alot worse torture scenes....
