Ep.40:
[On DrFvr--Some unintentional shades of old Hong Kong kung-fu movies—the dialogue is jumping the gun on their mouths. LOL.]
San and his men race with time to find the turtle rock on Mt. Inwang, using the capital army. The queen suborns the army with murder and her secret men, who almost manage to kill San and Dae-so, but San prevails and finds the evidence. He shows the king, who believes he wasn’t a real king or a real father because of the depths of the conspiracy. Early next morning, before the meeting, Yeong-jo has a stroke and lies in a coma.
Earlier, Yeong-jo had given his “secret box” to Sir Chae for safekeeping because “San will definitely need this.”
Everyone, including Princess, thinks the queen did something to Y-J. She did send him some poison, but the Grand Eunuch finally grew a pair and refused to administer it, so the Queen feels innocent. She also visits Y-J and claims it’s all his fault she turned out as she did and that she now hopes he will die. Jeong realizes the Queen knows a secret reason San cannot become king without a conscious Y-J, but he doesn’t know it.
Everybody (including the people) nervously await developments, and Hong and Chae convince San to announce at a cabinet meeting about the abdication so the government will not collapse. He calls the meeting. The queen interrupts. The two argue about who has a right to be there and who should not, and then she produces “his majesty’s last decree”—the resolution to de-crown San. The chief secretary don’t know nothing about no abdication, so she tells San he’s out and she’s in. They argue—it’s a standoff.
--
Actually, it kind of takes away the suspense because we KNOW he did become king. I liked the hai karate fighting between San and the traitors.
