This thread is for discussion of episode 3 of Eight Days Mystery of Jeong Jo Assassination. Please check the drama info & schedule thread for more info and rules on how to avoid spoilers and such. --------------------------------------------------------- In Hyung kills Han Jang Bok in the middle of cheokseodan sale with an undercover agent, Kim Chun Deuk. Since both victims in the cheokseodan dealings are from the Daedong group, Jung Yak Yong and the authorities decide to investigate them further. In Hyung reports back to In Bang and Jae Cheon about the undercover agent and believes a royal emissary is involved. Chun Deuk tells Yak Yong he's seen In Hyung before and that he's likely a former soldier from Hanyang. Chae Jegong is promoted to Chief State Councilor. Shim Hwan Ji is made the Minister of War. Jae Cheon explains his plan to attack Jeong Jo during his procession to Hwaseong. In Bang tells him that his plan is doomed to fail. The Queen Dowager plans to "slowly deliberate" on adopting an heir to the throne. Kim Jung Soo takes it to mean that she won't oppose the Noron party's plans and the heir issue can always be dealt with later. The procession to Hwaseong, which Jeong Jo's mother opposes, is set for May 9th. A military drill will take place as well. The Noron party plans to use it to their advantage but Jeong Jo seems to have other plans.

Slightly confused here, I thought the Noron didn't know the exact procession date and they were assuming it was in the 6th month (for Lady Hye-gyeong's 60th birthday). Isn't that what they were talking about at that dinner?
I don't quite understand In Bang. Seems to be some sort of messianic cult leader. Reminds me of the Haemosu story (Jumong's father) and/or the group that was counterfeiting and fomenting revolution in Damo. So, does anyone know if he's based on a real person?
It looks like the writers (novel and drama) are suggesting that Lady Hye-gyeong falsified her memoirs in order to make herself look blameless. Recent dramas seem to take the line that Sado was falsely accused, and this would be one way in which that could be historically accurate.

I don't think they know the exact date but are still planning in advance.

Interesting about Lady Hye Gyeong's Memoirs in Everlasting Empire (The Book film is Eternal Empire ) she gets raked over the coals regarding her memoirs and the authors(Both Books Empire and The Journey on which 8 Days is adapted from ) accuse her of throwing hubby under the bus ....er sorry cart as they did not have buses than .
