EMPRESS OF CHINA , a new drama about Empress Wu , massive budget , dazzling costumes , Fan Bing Bing . Hope they avoid the Cinderella storyline this time . www.dramafever.com/news/17-of-fan-bingbings-most-stunning-costumes-in-the-empress-of-china/pics look great , especially her as an old woman . WOLF HALL starts on PBS in June , it depicts the animosity between Anne Boleyn and Thomas Cromwell , its the highest rated British drama in over 20 years , Damien Lewis is a good H8 . I was lucky to see a screener of the first two eps , the use of natural lighting can be good and bad .Ep 1 was a bit slow but 2 kicks into gear .

I read Wolf Hall. And Bring Up the Bodies. Tough read at times but stuck it out on both. Very very good books. And I can so see Damien Lewis as H8 too. (He was really good in that Alex Rider movie.) Can't wait. Just checked over at Amazon to see if was available on DVD. No. Who plays Anne?

Lol yes AKJ , no kidding , about a week back some site had pics of with and without cleavage . Think this series will suck anyway , very few Chinese historical dramas are decent , they tend to throw in bad jokes and slapstick . Water Margin and Romance Of The 3 Kingdoms being the exceptions . Actually the trailer looks decent .. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Say5t2Mwmgw

Jewel ....Claire Foy plays Anne , she is good but not as good as Natalie Dormer but still good . No DVD yet it , it will air on PBS right after Season 4 of Call The Midwife finishes . I was lucky to see the first two episodes from a private screener , but like every one i wil have to wait until April to see the rest . So its two months away the start date is the first Sunday in April , it is really good , you will not be unhappy . Here is the trailer for Ep 3 which features Anne www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxiRjRk5hkE

So after twelve seasons and 260 episodes, the 261st and final episode of Two and a Half Men airs tonight. There used to be so many good prime-time comedies on TV, but it seems like fewer and fewer of them are all that funny any more. Lately the only ones that make me laugh regularly are THM and South Park. Even after Charlie Sheen left they managed to make it work pretty well.
Lots of anticipation about whether or not Sheen will make an appearance (I'm guessing he does, probably in a dream sequence since his character died)...but either way I just hope the storyline fits with the series and gives us a satisfying ending, however they do it.
Will be a sad night; really gonna miss it.

Latest episode of Gravity Falls tackles child abuse and the socioeconomic gap without being preachy about it.

For me the best comedy ever will always be "Seinfeld." I love that show. For Christmas I got the complete series and I love it. Love the the whole packaging and the pictures, everything. Hubby and I are working our way through it. Never gets old.
Ajk, did you ever watch "Absolutely Fabulous"? It's a Brit comedy and for some reason I think you'd like it. After "Seinfeld," this is my very fave show. I own all of the shows in existence on DVD and I adore them all. I discovered it on PBS a few years back and then I got the DVDs to watch while tread-milling. Well, it didn't quite work. The first time ever I tried to watch while exercising I almost fell off the machine and broke my silly little neck - I was laughing so hard. This show is so hysterical I can't even begin. Either you love it or hate it. Unfortunately my husband hates it. Whenever I get into my AF-marathon mood he moans and groans. I think he secretly fears I'll become like them if I watch too often. If you've never seen it you should give it a try.
Oh I love "Will and Grace" too. Only the first three seasons.
Hubby and I are watching "John Adams" right now. Finished the second episode last night. Now, usually I have no interest in American History. It usually leaves me stone-cold, and I think I slept through AH class in high school. Or more liked chatted my way through it. Anyway, this drama makes it interesting even for me - amazing. The show really makes what I usually find unspeakably boring come alive. I'm learning so much. And my husband is once again flabbergasted at how ignorant I can be about things. Hee hee.

Wow, what a finale. Give 'em credit, they totally went big on the storyline. Some of it worked, some of it not so much, but it wasn't boring, not for one minute. Love it when a show takes risks (just said that about Shin Don). Lots of inside jokes and references to the show's history and the whole Charlie Sheen thing; those were great. Really enjoy it when a series rewards the viewer for staying loyal (said that about QSD, I think). And the final scene was genius. Very, very clever.
The episode didn't give us any sort of grand wrap-up of any of the existing characters' lives, which sort of surprised me...but that's okay, final episodes don't need to do that. (The Everybody Loves Raymond finale didn't either, and it was a good finale too.) It was entirely a stand-alone one-episode story that could have been told any time in the last couple of seasons.
Anyway, so many of the most successful sitcoms, their final episodes come up way short. This one sure didn't. As sad as it is that it ended, it was great to see it go out so strong.

Covered a lot of ground there jewel! AbFab, yeah, saw the whole thing, enjoyed it a lot. Definitely not for everybody, but for the type of show it was, it was very good. (Especially when Patsy bought the powdered sugar.)
John Adams, I've praised that one here in the past. Great mini-series, glad you're watching it. I had a few people tell me they didn't care for it, and I could tell it was because it jarred them to see our founding fathers portrayed as real people doing some odd things. Well guess what, they WERE real people who did some odd things just like the rest of us, not the icons we tend to think of them as. Anyway, good choice.
Will and Grace, watched it, I agree, it could be very good at times but it lost steam after the first seasons.
Seinfeld...sigh. Yeah, watched it loyally from episode 1 (when few people were), enjoyed it, some outstanding episodes, very cleverly written. But all of the hype about calling it the best sitcom ever, it drives me nuts. Anybody wants a big argument from me, that's a good topic choice. But whatever, it is a good show, glad you're enjoying it.
P.S. Anybody wants a hidden gem, dig up the DVD of a 13-episode abandoned sitcom called "The Tick." Fox gave it a shot and didn't renew it because they didn't know what to do with it (go figure). I don't buy a lot of DVDs but I treasure that one.

Ah yeah, it took me three tries and viewings, but I managed to finish John Adams, finally. What a very good series. Paul Giamatti is great.
Has anyone heard the news that Netflix is making a series based on The Legend of Zelda games?

One of my very fave episodes is when Eddie finds herself all alone at home and can't open a can of tuna or something. She goes all the way to her daughter's college lecture hall with the can in one hand and a can opener with the other. And Saffie wordlessly opens it for her while all her classmates watch with wonder. Ohmgosh, so funny!!
Yeah, that's really the whole reason I loved this series (finished it by the way). All these historical figures, that for me were like cardboard cutouts in the classroom, were so human in the drama. Loved when George Washington was being sworn in and everyone had to lean in to hear cuz he whispered his words. Loved when he was chewing food and complained of teeth pain. Loved when John Adams wiped his mouth with the corner of the tablecloth when eating dinner (and this was when he was president). Loved when he was burning all his papers in the fireplace and he caught one paper he didn't want to burn and tried to save it by stomping out the fire. Whether these things really happened or not, they made the characters come alive for me. I just so enjoyed every episode, it could've been much longer as far as I'm concerned. I wanted more details on certain things they glossed over. I loved Thomas Jefferson!
It was so funny cuz there were so many things I never knew about the founding of America. But when Adams and Jefferson were dying I said ooh I know they die within hours of each other. Hubby was impressed yet again that after all, I did know something about American history. Tee hee.
Speaking of hidden gems, have you ever watched "Keen Eddie"? Ohmgosh, this used to be one of my faves shows. Sooo funny! I just looked it up on Amazon and they have the complete series. I might just get it. Loved it.
I'm in a dilemma... should I watch when it airs? Or should I wait till the DVD comes out? I love just watching when I feel like it. But then can I wait? Does anyone care?
